  1.
  2. Skaela-rei
  3.
  4. Predominately Elvish city in the far South-West
  5.
  6. City's primary trade is 'Steel-Silk' a type of silk named for both it's durability and the dull dark silvery-grey color it has naturally before bleaching or dyeing. The silk comes from the larva of a giant beetle native to that region, but said larva requires some very specific factors in it's care, making it difficult to raise outside of the region, not to mention the elves of Skaela-Rei do not want those practices taught elsewhere.
  7.
  8. Kadosh was born to a family of Silk-weavers. Her father owned one of the larger Steel-Silk 'farms' Her mother had been an adept weaver already when she met her father. The children were expected to carry on this legacy, but Kadosh, who's birth name was actually Valyna Uhialhrel showed a strong aptitude for the Arcane, and when she was still quite young for an elf, (67 years old) she was taken to Arandil.
  9.
  10. She becomes a rather adept student, hardly anything mind-blowing but, she was one of the better students in her class. Determined to do well, because she feared not doing well meant having to go back and deal with her parents, who were disappointed she was becoming a mage rather than being involved with the family business. She's not outcast from them, but she knows deep down there is some tension and disappointment there. She writes them semi regularly and occasionally goes back to visit.
  11.
  12. She was told about Beleger from a very early age, but she'd been studying magic about 20 years before she ever saw him. She'd been told how dangerous he was, but she first began to suspect he was not so much so when she accidently came across him in one of the upper floor libraries (One she wasn't suppose to have access to as a student of her level) she spoke to the awkward young half-elf for a while before it even dawned on her who he was, causing her to have mixed feelings.
  13.
  14. She was afraid of him, but also she was deeply curious as the rumors, and the tales of how dangerous he was, that had been drilled into her didn't match the shy, socially awkward, but highly brilliant man she'd spoken to. It might have been one of the things that set her on the path to becoming a Lorekeeper, her drive to know more, to know the truth of things.
  15.
  16. It was this sort of research, that when she was around 225 years of age, had her setting off to a remote location, to recover some ancient lost to the ages artifact. It had been buried in a tomb of sorts, a marker for the resting place of a legendary mage, who had supposedly died, 1000s of years ago in the final conflict that brought an end to the previous 'Unmaker'
  17.
  18. Where he had died had left a 'scar' of sorts on the nature of magic, leaving it very unstable. That was the primary reason for the sealed tomb, keeping people out of a place where magic was highly dangerous and chaotic of drawn upon.
  19.
  20. Valyna was cleared to go there for research purposes with a small team. They managed to find the relic, but disaster struck on the way back out, and one of her assistance, used magic to try and stop a cave in once within the tunnel. Wild magic errupted from all around, killing the rest of the team, and leaving Valyna in agony from the energy coursing through her body.
  21.
  22. She managed to get outside, where the guide, who'd remained outside got her to the nearest mage tower, where spells were put to contain the magic that was threatening to rip her apart at any moment.
  23.
  24.
  25. Eventually the runes and sigils were made as a longer term solution. Magic still behaves 'strangly' for her at times leaving her with some unusual talents but a lot of limitations. Arandil considered her a liability and she was 'advised' to leave and retire. They offered her a small pension and the 'privilege' to go work at one of their more isolated mage-towers in the middle of nowhere. She refused.
  26.
  27. It was Mithras, that accepted her with open arms, known for being a bit more lax and less strict and parinoid than the other major Keep. She was promoted to Lorekeeper there, where she continued her research, regreting only that it was more difficult to study the Unmaker from 1000s of miles away. Still, it was one of her side projects, learning everything she could about him and the others who'd been like him before.
  28.
  29. Her research had her stumbling upon some things few mages were ever made aware of, and it made her a part of a secret sub-sect of Mithras.
  30.
  31. At some point early in her stay at Mithras she earned the name Kadosh, a nickname she readily adopted because there were still rumors and some tarnish to her repultation as Valyna that she feared might carry over from Arandil. Going under a new name, she felt might help break the association.
  32.
  33. Most of Mithras does not even know about what is wrong with her. The Sigils help keep her from putting off a strange aura around other magic users, too all but the most keen arcane senses.
  34.
  35. She had been there for around 75 years before she learned of the Unmaker's escape from Arandil, a few years prior. Already for the past ten years of her time at Mithras, she'd been away more often than she was there, seeking a more long term solution to the instability within her that might one day kill her. In secret, she'd been looking for Beleger too, until learning of his supposed death, just a few years into being on the run. She has had reason to suspect it's not true however, since the story doesn't add up.
  36.
  37.
  38. Suggested quirks n shit
  39.
  40. She might dislike 'regular' silk as it's so airy and fragile in comparison
  41.
  42. However, since most of her people wore mostly black and dark silver, a small rebellion of sorts could be her love of color
