- Hi Allan and Kris,
- I am trying to figure out why I should use BSD systems more than GNU+Linux systems. Looking at ZFSOnLinux, that diminishes the use of FreeBSD for just the file system. PF is great but it isn't really an edge when Software incompatibility still occurs between the two Operating systems.
- I'm considering this from the idea of CentOS with ZFS-on-root vs FreeBSD for server and either Gentoo or Arch with ZFS-on-root vs FreeBSD or TrueOS for the desktop.
- Side note: Jails seems like a potential tipping point for the server, but it's not something I use everyday.
- I enjoy using both FreeBSD, and several GNU+Linux distros. I'm just trying to see if the *BSDs are more of an occasional use case for me or am I missing something big.
- What would you two recommend?
- A torn *nix user.
- Matt F.
