  1. >Magic
  2. >It was something that existed naturally in all Equestrian beings in some form
  3. >Unicorns could directly manipulate it
  4. >Pegasus could fly and control the weather
  5. >Earth ponies were connected with nature or some shit
  6. >The enhanced physique might also count
  7. >Zebras
  8. >Griffins
  9. >Hell, you bet the fuckin' YAKS have something up their sleeves
  10. >But you?
  11. >You-
  12. >"-don't have any magic?"
  13. >Yeah, what Twi said
  14. "Nope."
  15. >"Really? No magic to speak of at all?"
  16. "Nope. Seein' as I'm from a world completely devoid of magic, it would make sense for me not to have any."
  17. >"Oh. I had just assumed... never mind."
  18. >Yup, in a world full of technicolor equines and magic, you had nothing
  19. >It's not as if you expected to have any
  20. >Or to BE here, for that matter
  21. >But you felt kind of like an outcast in that aspect
  22. >Mind you, in THAT aspect
  23. >You were kind of surprised by just how accepting the pones were when you first met
  24. >Though you had just broken your leg falling through a portal into Twilight's castle, so you may have earned some sympathy points there
  25. >Nonetheless, they were quite accepting even after you started walking around normally
  26. >Still, it sucked that, in a world so full of magic, you got the short end of the stick
  27. >You though that maybe, once your body acclimated to it, you could do SOMETHING with it
  28. >Hell, that's why you were here in the library at this moment
  29. >You grabbed Twilight and asked for her help
  30. >"Hey Twilight, Anon. How everything going?"
  31. >Starlight enters, waving a hoof at you both
  32. "Hey Star. What's up?"
  33. >"Oh not much. I had just finished buying ingredients for dinner, was bringing them back and happened to pass by. Whatcha doing?"
  34. >"Anon wanted me to help him see if he could use magic."
  35. >"How's that going?"
  36. >You sigh
  37. "We got nothing."
  38. >"What have you tried?"
  39. >"Beginner spellbooks, clouds, plants, shamanic rituals..."
  40. "All for nothing. Fuck."
  41. >"Oh, come on. You're fine the way you are. Why would you even need magic if there wasn't any in your world?"
  42. "I dunno..."
  43. >You had always wanted to wield magic
  44. >Whether it was controlling the elements
  45. >Seeing spirits, maybe talking to them
  46. >Manipulating time and space
  47. >That shit sounded AWESOME to you
  48. >But, naturally, that was all within the world of make-believe
  49. >You could wish for it all you want, wouldn't change the fact that it didn't exist
  50. >In your world, anyways
  51. >But this was Equestria
  52. >This WAS the world of make-believe
  53. >Well, a world of make-believe
  54. >Maybe, just MAYBE, in this colorful world of knee-high equines and sunshine and rainbows, you hoped that magic might be something you could do
  55. >But of course not
  56. "I had always wanted to use magic back in my own world, but naturally, as there was none, I kind of just threw away that dream. I thought maybe now, in a world full of it... never mind."
  57. >You get up, knowing there was no point in pursuing this childish fantasy of yours any longer
  58. >You can't use magic
  59. >You exhale with disappointment
  60. >Obviously, this wasn't anything to cry over
  61. >But a little bit of you died just now
  62. >Starlight looks at your face, growing a frown, then getting thoughtful
  63. >"I... have a bit of an idea."
  64. >You look up at Glim-Glam
  65. "Really?"
  66. >"Now now, this isn't some surefire way of getting you magic. Just... an idea."
  67. >"What are you thinking, Starlight?"
  68. >"Twilight, you know how some unicorn foals have trouble using magic because there's a magical block in their system?"
  69. >"Well, yeah, but I do-"
  70. >"And how there's a magical procedure to remove that block?"
  71. >"Well-"
  72. >Twilight's mind works for a second, before finally figuring out what Starlight was getting at
  73. >"Ooooh, ok. I see where you're going with this."
  74. "Could I perhaps get a glimpse of this idea?"
  75. >"Oh, sorry Anon. You see, Starlight mentioned the procedure because it involves a spell that examines a pony's magical energies and their soul."
  76. "Their soul?"
  77. >"It's tied to a pony's magic."
  78. "Okay then, so you'll be examining my soul to see if I have any latent magic or whatever?"
  79. >"Yup. Ready?"
  80. "I might need a minute..."
  81. >"Alright, whenever you're ready."
  82. >You take what time you need to mentally prepare yourself for the fact that two ponies were about to basically peer into your soul...
  83. "Alright. I'm good. Go ahead."
  84. >Both unicorns nod at each other, and Twilight pulls out a strange gem from a deep corner in the library
  85. "What's that?"
  86. >"A soulstone. It'll help us see into your soul with the spell."
  87. "O-okay then."
  88. >Star and Twi both focus their magic into the stone, their eyes beginning to glow
  89. >A minute of charging later, and a beam of magical energy shoots straight into your chest
  90. >aAAAND THIS FEELS WEIRD
  91. >NO AMOUNT OF PREPARATION COULD MAKE YOU READY FOR THIS FUUUUUCK
  92. "aaaAAA THIS FEELS WEIRD!"
  93. >"Are you alright? Should we stop?"
  94. "NO TWILIGHT, I'M FINE! THIS JUST FEELS STRANGE!"
  95. >"O-okay. Just tell us if you want us to stop okay?"
  96. "Got it."
  97. >They both begin prodding around in you, and you don't get used to it at all
  98. >Seriously, it's... eeeEEEEEEH!
  99. >"Are you seeing anything Starlight?"
  100. >"Magic is generally found around the nervous system so I'm checking nerve endings right now."
  101. >"So, you got anything?"
  102. >...
  103. >"No. I'm sorry Anon, but I can't see anything."
  104. >Oh
  105. >You sigh, your hopes dashed
  106. >...
  107. >...
  108. >"Wait."
  109. >"What's up Starlight?"
  110. >"I.."
  111. >"I think..."
  112. >"I think I see something."
  113. >"What?"
  114. >"It's... It's kind of connected to the heart, but... Twilight, has something like this ever been inside a pony?"
  115. >"Well, Anon isn't really a pony... nor is he any species we've seen before, so..."
  116. >You feel that bit of hope that died resurrect itself
  117. >"...I'm going to see if I can bring it out."
  118. >"Are you sure that's a good idea Starlight?"
  119. >"I won't pull too hard. I just want to examine it better."
  120. >You feel Starbledarble pull on something in your chest for a second
  121. >And OOOOOOOOOOHSWEETJESUS
  122. "FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUUUUU-"
  123. >"STARLIGHT, STOP!"
  124. >"I DID, IT'S MOVING AWAY FROM ANON'S HEART ON ITS OWN!"
  125. >"WE NEED TO STOP THE SPELL!"
  126. >In an instant, the spell falters and disappears
  127. >You fall to the floor, writhing not in pain, but something else
  128. >Like a part of you, something you didn't even know existed just fell out of your body
  129. >Like you've had an extra hand attached to your heart your whole life and no one had the decency to inform you, only finding out now
  130. >You try to speak up, to utter "HELP"
  131. >All that comes up is vomit and fatigue
  132. >You can hear the girls shouting, asking you to stay awake
  133. >Starlight is holding you in her hooves
  134. >You can hear her pleading, begging you not to close your eyes
  135. >Unfortunately, having your essence violated like a virgin on prom night basically tuckered you out
  136. >Before you pass out, you notice something odd floating above you that neither mare seems to notice
  137. >Why... did... I have...
  138. >Three... floating... rocks...
  139. >Stuck... in my chest...
  140.
  141. >Anon's eyes close
  142. >No
  143. >NO
  144. >Panicking, you shake Anon
  145. "ANON, PLEASE WAKE UP! THIS ISN'T FUNNY ANYMORE!"
  146. >Twilight wraps Anon in a magical barrier along with you and her
  147. >Before you know it, you three have been teleported to Ponyville General
  148. >"WE NEED HELP!"
  149. >One of the orderlies spots Anon and quickly grabs him, ordering others to grab a gurney
  150. >The next few minutes are a blur
  151. >Anon being pulled into an operating room
  152. >You, begging and screaming to see him
  153. >Twilight forcefully pulling you away
  154. >Now you're sobbing into Twilight's chest as she strokes your mane, unable to console you
  155. >Good job Starlight
  156. >Real nice, Starlight
  157. >How's it feel putting your friend in mortal danger?
  158. >This was bound to happen
  159. >You're like a Yakyaki nesting doll of failure
  160. >Every layer, a new fuckup
  161. >Remember when mom left? How that was your fault because you just had to be so demanding?
  162. >How you can never hold a relationship because you're such a bitch?
  163. >How you enslaved an entire town of ponies because I LOST A FRIEND BECAUSE HE GOT HIS CUTIE MARK WAAAAAH
  164. >This'll go right into that nesting doll
  165. >"Excuse me, Princess Twilight?"
  166. >Your self loathing is broken up by Nurse Redheart approaching with a clipboard
  167. >"We have some news on Mr. Mouse."
  168. >You leap to her feet, shocking the nurse and forcing Twilight to telekinetically pull you back
  169. >"Aaaanyways, the good news is that he's relatively stable. He's still got a pulse and is breathing fine. We couldn't find any injuries, internal or external."
  170. >Please have him walk out and suprise us
  171. >Please don't leave us, Anon
  172. >Please
  173. >̭͍P͉͟L̴̥̋̀E̟͐͆͠A̲͋S̯̒́E̪̲
  174. >"The bad news is he hasn't woken up and any attempt to awaken him has failed. Just as well, he seems to have a fever of about 103°F"
  175. >You go limp, letting it all sink in
  176. >"So what are you gonna do?"
  177. >"Well, princess, we were hoping you could sign this waiver and let us keep watch over him for the next few days. We'll keep him fed and such. We simply want to examine him. We've never seen something like this. Especially with his soul. It seemed as if he had something deep within pulled out."
  178. >You don't say a word
  179. >You just want to go home
  180. >You just want to sleep
  181. >You just want to die
  182. >"Might you know something about that, miss Starlight?"
  183. >You explain what happened in detail, doing what you can to keep from breaking down
  184. >"So, this.. thing was pulled from near his heart?"
  185. >She looks at you, confused
  186. >"I... don't think I've heard of any sort of magical buildup near the heart... but we'll check and see if it comes back."
  187.
  188.
  189. >For the next 10 days, you take every minute you can sitting beside Anon's bed
  190. >The other girls are worried naturally, but they all have lives outside of this to take care of
  191. >Every minute you can get next to Anon, you take it
  192. >The other girls begin to worry about YOU at some point
  193. >Say you shouldn't be spending so much time sitting there
  194. >That you shouldn't be blaming yourself
  195. >Why wouldn't you blame yourself?
  196. >You did this
  197. >It's your fault
  198. >...
  199. >9:00 AM on the Eleventh day
  200. >You've been here since 8:00
  201. >Technically, visiting hours aren't until 10:00 on Sundays, but thanks to special permission from a certain princess, you get to see him early
  202. >...
  203. >Please wake up Anon
  204. >...
  205. >Anything...
  206. >...A finger spasm
  207. >...A word
  208. >....give me something
  209. >...I can't sleep knowi-
  210. >A slight movement from the bed covers
  211. >Is it?
  212. >He stirs a bit and...
  213. >He's awake
  214. >He's AWAKE
  215. >HE'S AWAKE
  216. >You nearly choke him with a bigass bear hug
  217. >Then you remember
  218. >The girls
  219. >THEY'LL BE SO EXCITED
  220. >You let go of Anon, filled with more energy than ever before
  221. "Sorry Anon, I'll be right back!"
  222. >After getting the girls and Spike, you all arrive to find Anon...
  223. >Staring straight into the ceiling
  224. >Odd, but WHO CARES, HE'S ALIVE AND AWAKE!
  225. >All the girls go in for a hug and give him some gifts they brought him...
  226. >...but he seems distracted with the ceiling
  227. >Is he hallucinating?
  228. "What's wrong Anon?"
  229. >"OH! Hey Starlight, glad to see you're here. Could you, uhh... Could you do something for me real quick?"
  230. "Anything, Anon."
  231. >"Could you..."
  232.
  233. "...Pass your hoof over here?"
  234. >Starlight looks at you, befuddled at why you'd request that
  235. >Admittedly, she wasn't seeing what you were seeing...
  236. >...Which was 3 basketball-sized spheres orbiting each other above your head
  237. >Before Glim came back with the girls, you took the time to examine each of them
  238. >One of them was absolutely cold to the touch, like it could give you frostbite
  239. >The second one looked... kinda like Earth
  240. >Water, land that was green, except for near the poles
  241. >The landmasses were different, but nonetheless
  242. >The third one had an orange-brown tinge to it, and a wide but thin ring circling it
  243. >When you reached at it, you felt... mostly air and... wind?
  244. >Like it was a...
  245. >Gas giant
  246. >You currently have three basketball sized planetoids spinning above you in a perfect circular orbit
  247. >Starlight stretches her hoof out and you gently pull it towards the objects above you, making sure not to touch them yourself
  248. >Aaand yep, her hoof passes through them
  249. >Huh
  250. >"So Anon, are you ready for your SUPER DUPER JUST-WOKE-UP-FROM-A-COMA-PARTY?"
  251. "Uh, yeah, sure, just... could you hand me something small?"
  252. >"Sure, Nonny! How about this pencil?"
  253. "Sure."
  254. >She gives you the pencil with her mouth
  255. >You wanted to check something
  256. >When you were examining the planets earlier, whenever you moved your hand into their orbit, it felt like your hand became weightless
  257. >You put the pencil in the orbit of the spheres
  258. >...And it floats
  259. >Unbeknownst to you, everypony in the room has taken notice
  260. >You tap the pencil as lightly as possible, causing it to lean ever so slightly to the left
  261. >"Anon..."
  262. >"Are y'all doin' this?"
  263. >Holy shit
  264. >Holy SHIT
  265. >YOU ARE DOING THIS
  266. >FUCK YE-
  267. >Getting excited seems to have made you lose control of the orbs, making them spin
  268. >After a few seconds, the pencil flies and sticks straight into the ceiling tile above you
  269. >Woops
  270. >...
  271. >"Mr. Mouse?" Are you awake?"
  272.
  273. >A few hours pass
  274. >After getting your check up and clearance to leave, you and the girls head into town
  275. >Pinkie really DID have a Just-Woke-Up-From-A-Coma Party set up.
  276. >And it was pretty good
  277. >It was nice to see all of your friends happy
  278. >And the gifts weren't bad either
  279. >But god DAMN did it tucker you out
  280. >You were NOT a partygoer
  281. >Not to say you didn't enjoy hanging with friends back home
  282. >But there was a reason you were noted as "The Shut-in" by all of them
  283. >It wasn't the worst name to be called
  284. >That went to Danny "Boypucci" Barducci
  285. >You'd think that little stint with him would have earned you something like that too, but apparently not
  286. >Sure you like the ladies, but how co-
  287. >Enough about your sexuality
  288. >You were too distracted with a little theory
  289. >After the party, you asked the girls to help you with something
  290. >If these things you had were what you thought they were...
  291. >You decide to run a few tests
  292. >After getting enough control over them, you ask Rarity to grab some measuring tape
  293. >While waiting in the main entryway of the Château d'Twi, you heard Starlight and Twilight have what sounded like a heated argument
  294. >From what you gather, the soulstone that they used on you has gone missing
  295. >Oh well, not important right now
  296. >First: any damage done to it is reflected on its user
  297. >You wind up the hardest punch you can muster and strike one of the spheres
  298. >Resulting in a sudden massive headache
  299. >Well, you're not bleeding or anything, but you're pretty sure that counts
  300. >"Are you alright darling?"
  301. >You turn to see Rarity with her measuring tape ready at hoof
  302. "Yeah, just gimme a sec."
  303. >Next: the farther it is from its user, the less powerful it is
  304. >You bring the planets right up to your face, their orbit now completely vertical
  305. >After increasing their orbit's speed to its max, you grab a bit from your back pocket and throw it through
  306. >*PTCHOOOO*
  307. >It shoots through like a fucking bullet, hitting the wall and shattering on impact
  308. >Damn
  309. >After a few minutes of guiding Rarity to the max range you could get the orbiting rocks to, you ask her to put her hoof through them
  310. >Rather, you asked her to start waving it and stop where it felt weird
  311. >After she stopped, you asked her how her hoof felt
  312. >"Kind of... weightless?"
  313. >You were spinning those things at max speed
  314. >Alright then, that test is a success
  315. >Out of curiosity, you ask Rarity to measure the distance between the two of you
  316. >820 feet
  317. >Around 250 meters
  318. >DAMN
  319. >Now for one last test, though it's more for curiosity than anything else
  320. >You do your best to withdraw the three orbs, eventually making them phase out of existence
  321. >Then, you search deep in your soul
  322. >...And hear a name call to you, begging to be beckoned
  323. "...「SATURN'S CHILDREN」!"
  324. >The orbs reappear into reality
  325. >Well, while you're not 100% certain, you're sure enough
  326. >You get Rarity and Spike to round up the other girls for a meeting
  327.
  328. >After everypony is seated in their thrones, you approach the map in the center, arms behind your back, Saturn's Children floating above the map
  329. "Ladies, if what I think has happened has indeed happened..."
  330. "That being the sickness I endured and the odd manifestation now floating in front of me...
  331. "Then I both am excited... yet fearful of what I must inform you."
  332. >"Why's that? So you see a bunch of floating rocks everywhere you go. BIG WHOOP."
  333. "Big whoop indeed, Ms Dash. If I'm correct, then these "floating rocks" I have dubbed Saturn's Children are a both a blessing to me... and a possible curse to Ponyville, Equestria, perhaps the entire world."
  334. >"Um... why would that be Anon? Rarity said that you said that you could only extend them around 250 meters."
  335. "Why yes, Fluttershy, I can only extend them to that length indeed. That, however, is not why they may pose a threat to the world."
  336. >"What could result from you getting... Saturn's Children as you call them? How could that possibly endanger Equestria or the world at large?"
  337. "Simple Starlight. If I'm correct..."
  338. "...I have, what some back in my world might call..."
  339. "...A Stand."
