  21. This was recommended by my husband's doctor. Can't see that the regimen is helping him a lot however. He's been on it for 2 years. Many have been helped by it though, so I think it's worth a read.

  45. He ordered it many years ago because he had a diagnosis of Alzheimer's. That was 12 years ago and the doctor told him he would be dead or totally disabled within 10 years. His story is amazing as you would never guess he has any problems with memory at all and he is 80 years old.

  69. She clearly makes the point that not all people will be helped by her solution (coconut oil). However, I am thrilled to say that we are seeing memory improvement with our 89-yr-old mother. It is slow but steady. We did purchase and are using the "Food for Thought" drinks she mentions.

  141. We started my Grandmother (now 89) on the protocol described in this book 3 years ago. She has dementia. It significantly slowed her rate of decline, to the point she was stable for many years. I wish we had started her earlier! There is a lot of information that can be found on the website (google the terms coconut oil and ketones). She takes it three times a day. Taking it several times a day is the key.

I am single &amp; have no one to notice if I'm having issues, but I was able to recognize them - like getting lost on my way home from work (only 5 miles), losing items, not remembering where I'd been or couldn't backtrack to see if I'd left my debit card at a store, etc. Was starting to have problems completing tasks, couldn't remember why I was doing something or that I hadn't finished something. Felt like I was in a fog a lot &amp; would feel overwhelmed for projects requiring logical mindwork. Got scared when I left something in the toaster oven to point it was smoking &amp; about to burst into flames. Now, I am no longer feeling in a fog, overwhelmed by small details or even larger projects now. I remember if I put something in the oven. Was able to start a new job requiring memory work (P.O. delivery routes) &amp; am doing well at it

I purchased this for a relative currently suffering alzheimers.<br>He is in a veterans facility, the care givers there agreed to give him coconut oil as recommended in the book.<br>He is given more when his family visits each day but no change is seen. No way to know if the care givers actually give it to him regularly. I would say to try it in more controlled environment.

  213. We started mom on Coconut Oil (MCT oil) therapy about 3 months ago. After 2 days we saw a NOTICEABLE difference! Mom remarked that she was feeling different, better. We told her that we had started a new routine, she asked about it, and we showed her the book...she sat and read this book for 2 hours! Mom hadn't read anything in 3 years! Mom was suddenly able to follow a storyline on a tv show, sit through a movie, and have a conversation! We took mom to the doctors for a routine check in, and her doctor couldn't believe she was the same person! We don't think its a cure, but it sure is amazing!

  261. My mother is 88 years young and has Alzheimer's Disease, I am 69 years young and I am very much my mothers son and follow very closely to her genetically. I am now following DR Mary T Newport's direction and with the oversight of my MD. I have been following the regiment now for 4 months (faithfully). Just completed a complete physical and blood work-up. My blood labs were very much improved (previous work-up labs were 6 and 12 months prior) and "ALL" my latest results are in the very healthy range. My A1c was 5.5 and I am vertical and still breathing with a sound heart and vitals PTL :-). I could go on forever about what I am learning and it truthfully all started with this book by Doctor Mary T Newport.

Identifying improvement in cognitive skills is not easy because one day may be an "on" day and the next day he may be "off" having had the oil both days. The book is an easy read for one that has little medical knowledge.

  285. I have been giving my husband Dr. Newport's fudge, which he loves, every night for four months. A recent blood test showed that his "good Cholesterol" had risen from 55 to 65, a significant amount. We are still hoping for improvement to his memory but this is harder to measure and he is 88 years old. The coconut oil offers the only glimmer of hope.

  301. Last year, when I first heard about Mary Newport's success treating her husband's Alzhiemer's disease with coconut oil, I began randomly adding coconut oil to my foods. I didn't notice any changes or improvements in my well being. But, after I bought the book and started following Dr. Newport's recommendations for a couple weeks, I noticed a distinct (actually dramatic), increase in energy, alertness, and motivation for exercise &amp; taking on new projects. I'm reading music more easily and am less overwhelmed at rehearsals &amp; social gatherings. I now have hope &amp; motivation to take the needed steps to avoid my senior years becoming the "nightmare that is Alzhiemer's disease."
