  1. <RoanKattouw> alkamid: I assigned it to rainmain, who basically wrote our search engine
  2. <RoanKattouw> He'll be poking at other search problems tonight, he may get to your problem
  3. But it's very possible you just have to wait for the index to update
  4. <alkamid> I don't think this is the case
  5. I checked it in fr.wikt from where I imported the templates
  6. their search enginge doesn't show conjugated verbs either
  7. <MaxSem> I strongly doubt that Lucene search expands templates before indexing
  8. <rainman-sr> it is a known issue, raw wikitext is searched
  9. not the template-expanded text
  10. <MaxSem> ...which makes sense: templates shouldn't be used for storing content
  11. <rainman-sr> mediawiki afaik doesn't have an option to fetch template expanded text, nor to monitor when it is updated
  12. well except on wiktionary where they are heavily used, making the search quite useless
  13. <alkamid> but there's a reason for using them :-)
  14. so, as far as I understand, there's nothing I can do about it
  15. <MaxSem> no, there's a reasont to subst them
  16. <alkamid> except for putting the conjugation in raw text
  17. <alkamid> MaxSem: but when I subst them, the page grows to 100kB or so
  18. with lots of useless text
  19. <alkamid> kb
  20. <alkamid> rainman-sr, are there any chances that the search engine will be changed, or we rather should find another solution on wiktionary?
  21. <rainman-sr> alkamid, not by me, and afaik there is no-one else working on it ... as for other solutions, i guess you could try to minimize the usage of templates
