  1. Element and Magic Mechanics (W.I.P)
  2. This page explains the Elemental/Magical/Powers within my universe that most of my characters and races base their abilities on. While they apply to the majority of my characters and such, the mechanics have little impact in other role play universes, and basically serve as an explanation on how they do what they do.
  3.
  4. Aurata is a particle that makes up the basis for the magic used within my universe. Each particle of Aurata is charged with one of the four basic elements- Water, Fire, Air and Earth. Different charged particles can come together to make alternate elemental states.
  5.
  6. Now, these particles exist everywhere in space. Often referred to those who cannot interact with these particles directly as "Dark Energy" or "Dark Matter". These particles basically create a link between the person using the Magic or Powers as a medium, which allows the user to control the elements of the charged particles at will.
  7.
  8. A large collection of Aurata in one area around a being is generally referred to as an Aura.
  9.
  10. The scope of the control is based on the individuals will to control an element. While each person is born with an innate connection to one of the four basic elements, some have learned to control charged particles of Aurata that has combined with another element. And example of this is using Water with Air to create Ice.
  11.
  12. First, an explanation of the different types.
  13.
  14. Water
  15. Water is the most common Elemental charge of Aurata. Something of about 60% of all charged Aurata is Water. Water Aurata has the most healing properties within it, with a lot of Water based magic being focused on healing. This is likely do to Water being a basic building block of life.
  16. Water based magic used through Aurata is the hardest to control. This has a lot to do with the fact that water can be found in multiple states and is often obstructed by solid matter. It is easiest to manipulate it when its just a simple body of water.
  17.
  18. Fire
  19. Fire is one of the easiest Elements to use, but it often overtakes the users control and becomes wild. It takes strong will to maintain control over Fire Aurata. Fire Aurata consumes charged Air Aurata particles which makes fire based magic burn stronger, making it hard even for Water based magic to put out. Earth is the one true counter to Fire in these situations. Those with a strong connection to Fire Aurata tend to be healthier and more energetic than those with connections to other types of Aurata.
  20.
  21. Air
  22. Air Aurata is unique. With enough of it gathered in one place, it can repel both Water and Earth element Aurata. However, it can be consumed by Fire Aurata, making it impossible to maintain usage over Air Aurata based magic. Those who use Air Aurata have very easy control over it. With enough skill, they can combine Air Aurata with the other elements to cause interesting effects and different type of magic.
  23.
  24. Earth
  25. Earth Aurata is the example of strength and power. Those who use Earth Aurata can pull Aura so close to their own bodies and condense within them to increase their physical strength beyond natural means. Earth Aurata also has healing properties like Water, although not always quite as effective unless it has to deal with mending damaged bones and the like. The best of the Earth Aurata users can make slight changes to Earthen materials and metals around them, weakening or strengthening them to slightly varying degrees.
  26.
  27. Sometimes, Aurata can have multiple elemental charges within a single particle or two particles can attach to each other. While this happens rarely in nature with the exception of Water and Fire (which only creates Void Aurata, which nothingness), it rarely creates a useful ability unless specifically manipulated by a being.
  28.
  29.
  30. Ice
  31. Ice Aurata is formed from a combination of Water and Air Aurata. The Air cools down Water to change its energy charge within a particle, allowing the user access to Ice based abilities. Only the most adept of Ice Aurata users can create Ice magic from Water in a gaseous state. Otherwise, its only used with a source of liquid water.
  32.
  33. Lava
  34.
  35. Lava Aurata is formed between Fire and Earth Aurata, which gives the user access to magic that interacts with molten rock. Its the only way a Fire Aurata can attempt to manipulate Earthen Aurata to move it. However, this skill is much harder for a Fire Aurata to obtain than someone who has Earth Aurata.
  36.
  37. Plant
  38. Plant Aurata is a mix of Air and Earth Aurata. The basis of this is that Air breathes life into Earth and that Earth channels that life into Plant Aurata. With this Aurata, a user can manipulate existing plant life, and the very talented can create plant life.
  39.
  40. Plasma
  41. Plasma is born from Air overcoming the consuming properties of Fire Aurata, creating Plasma. This Plasma takes two different forms depending on the natural Aurata of the user. If the user is Air, they create Lightning and electricity, discharging the power of fire through the air. However, if its from a Fire Aurata user, it becomes molten Air, much like what you find in stars. Both are powerful types of Aurata, if you can channel it into a practical magical use.
  42.
  43. Crystal
  44. Crystal Aurata is the most unique of the combinations. It is an amalgamation of Water and Earthen Aurata, which when enough is condensed in a single space, it becomes a physical object. This physical object is a crystal that holds Aurata particles within it. However, these particles have no elemental charge to it at all when created. They can be charged and used with technology or magical items with specific purposes, but have no innate uses in nature. Crystal Aurata can focus all other types of Aurata.
  45.
  46. Void
  47. Void Aurata is when Fire and Water Aurata combine. When they do, the energy is literally discharged and the Aurata particle looses its ability to hold any energy within it. These particles make up empty space. Void Aurata particles cannot be interacted with to use any type of magic.
  48.
  49.
  50. So, how do the mechanics work?
  51. Aurata are particles. When enough Aurata particles are gathered around a person, it becomes an Aura. Auras are influenced by a persons will. Once the connection between a person and the element they chose to use is established, and the element is manipulated, the end result is considered magic.
  52.
  53. Manipulating Aura consumes mental and physical energy. Beings who are sick, unhealthy or not conscious enough cannot manipulate Aura. Overexerting oneself while using Aura can make someone pass out.
  54.
  55. Disclaimer- This is a serious work in progress. Almost everything within this is subject to change.
  56.
  57. Notes:
  58.
  59. Resonance and Radiance to be added. This has to do with how Aurata can be overcharged within a specific element that allows the user very special abilities.
  60.
  61. Chaos and Structure to be added. Chaos is the destruction of Aurata and Structure is the creation of Aurata.
