  12. We expected to find LGBTQ people, however there were none. In fact, it shows that several of these owners took notable offense to Question #7, which asked for their sexuality. The whole data pool stated they were heterosexual. Beyond the data pool shows that there are also married couples and partners buying lots together, yet still no LGBT representation. The LGBTQ people are approximately 4% of Michigan’s population. Whether or not inclusivity in the program is needed is undetermined based on the small size of the group. LGBTQ people are much more likely to live in lower income areas, which we primarily target in order to raise property values.
  13. However, a very large portion of people who were buyers of the lot were elderly, 82%. This could be due to having more time after retirement or steady incomes. There was nobody younger than 30 years old. That could be a problem due to younger people being more likely to be in poverty.
  14. The ratio in terms of gender was about 50/50 with women slightly ahead. This is reflective of Kalamazoo’s population as well. However, in the age range from 30-50, men out numbered women by 2:1.
  15.
  16. The race representation is pretty good, with our data showing 58% Caucasian, 32% Black, and 10% Latino or Asian. Kalamazoo’s demographic shows 68% Caucasian, 22% Black, 6% Latino and 4% other. So we have good minority representation, which we need because non-white people often have a harder time getting jobs, make less money on average and are more likely to be in poverty.
  17. If we want to help the people the most, we need to help the people who need the most help.
