  1. ***Kometsatsu-Do***
  2. AKA: Pilz creates a weeaboo background fluff thing
  3.
  4. The Way, or Code, of House Kometsatsu is created around three sacred tenants, known collectively as "Shitaji."
  5.
  6. 1. "Reservation is the way of the Skilled."
  7. 2. "Violence Only In Service."
  8. 3. "Uphold the Rule of Heaven."
  9.
  10. With the code as vague as it is, it may seem a wonder to outsiders why this noble house has yet to fracture. In truth, upon these tenants has been built numerous methods of interpretation, but given the relatively small nature of the family and the nature of the first and third tenants, serious disagreements have never broken into more than an odd grudge or two. The basic interpretation of the Shitaji is below; and represents what is generally understood to be the "True" Code. (Deviations mentioned in brackets)
  11.
  12. 1. To waste energy is an affront: to the divine beings in whose benevolence it was and is granted, to the Lord of the house who might call upon those reserves at any time, and to oneself who might better spend their energy in self-improvement. More practically, constantly optimized movements in the arts of the warrior result in the ability to outperform and outmaneuver opponents. This tenant also has a social side: to state things in a manner "Artful but without intent" is insulting, as it implies a lack of value of the time of your audience. (Some go so far as to swear off any art as a waste of time.)
  13.
  14. 2. Violence is an inherently destructive behaviour and clashes with the task of preservation taken up by members of the house. Violence may be necessary, yes, but only as a 'Lesser Evil' manner of behavior. Injustice may be corrected but only at a net gain. (The issue with this lies in interpretation of what qualifies as 'Service' as well as how strictly it is followed. Perfect behavior cannot be expected from mortals...but what level of transgression is acceptable?)
  15.
  16. 3. Amateratsu-no-kami is a divine being, as close to flawless as can be hoped. His children are likewise close to perfection, and so long as they remain true to the teachings their kingdoms must be preserved for the return of the immortal emperor.
  17. (Opinions differ as to what level one must go to fulfill this tenant. Can a peasant be left to starve, leaving the more worthy to eat their fill...or is such a thing a shameful waste brought on by inefficiencies which endanger the power of the kingdoms? In addition, this tenant can result in conflicts of loyalty between shivat and lannet: both are kingdoms of Heaven, and to date no member of House Kometsatsu has openly participated in the wars between both sides...though, some might note, those generals and commanders whose plans would bring ruin to one or both kingdoms often have the strangest changes of heart, sometimes swapping it for no heart at all.)
