  1. Cooldown
  2.
  3. Kev: Hello, Lidia?
  4. Psy: Hi. Come have a seat, Kevin.
  5. Psy: So, what’s been going on in your life?
  6. Kev: I had to save the city again, this time by cooling a nuclear reactor that was about to have a meltdown. And I also had to save some people from a burning building while Dioxin was throwing acid at me.
  7. Psy: Well how did those events go?
  8. Kev: I succeeded, at both. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here today.
  9. Psy: Well how do you feel about that?
  10. Kev: I’m glad that I succeeded, but I feel terrible.
  11. Psy: Why?
  12. Kev: It’s kinda like when you get hit by a truck and go flying, but you find get up okay and no bones are broken and you’re not bleeding. But you still feel the force of the impact and the air being knocked out of your stomach and the pain caused by it. In fact, that’s literally happened a few times.
  13. Psy: I see.
  14. Kev: I tend to do well when under pressure, but I just hate that feeling so much. And I hate having the entire city relying on me. There are nights where I can’t get any sleep even though there’s no crime going on that the cops can’t just take care of. And I just wish that if I just so happened to fail, that it wouldn’t be the end of everyone I know and love. That there would be such a thing as “trying again.” But I succeed, and everything turns out okay until the next disaster arises. But what if I don’t succeed? What then?
  15. Psy: Y’know what? You’re right. If you do fail, it’s going to be a big disaster. And people probably will die.
  16. Kev: Oh no!
  17. Psy: But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. When people need someone, they need Cooldown. They need you. And if you fail once, sure it may be a big disaster, but if another situation arises that doesn’t mean you can’t try again. You can’t save everyone, and this has been proven for generations. And there may be a time where you fail horribly. But when that feeling of anxiety gets to you, just remember all the great things you’ve done and say to yourself “I can do it again.”
  18. Kev: I…thank you.
