- Hi guys,
- I've been a listener to the show for a while and want to say a big "thank
- you" for all the effort you put in - I really look forward to the new
- episode each week
- Something that's been mentioned a few times on the show is how it's better
- to use an HBA rather than a hardware RAID controller when using ZFS. One
- thing that's worth mentioning is that a lot of LSI SAS controllers have IT
- JBOD-only firmware that can be used instead of the IR RAID-supporting
- firmware. It's easy to swap between the two (albeit via flashing) but
- switching to the IT firmware will remove the requirement to use workarounds
- like creating a RAID0 for each disk before handing it over to ZFS.
- For example, here's a link to instructions for the LSI SAS9211-8i:
- Keep up the great work - here's to another 150 episodes!
- Cheers, MJ
