- You can mix and match for four or five of Diglett/Cottonee/Pawniard/Fletchling/Stunky/Archen/Mienfoo and get a decent Zigzagoon team, but that's not very interesting and I'm not fond of relying so much on a sweeper as unreliable as Zigzagoon.
- Stealth Rock and Pursuit support are mandatory for any team with Zigzagoon; I decided to go with Onix for rocks because it's probably the most reliable offensive rock setter alongside Pawniard / Omanyte and can deter Magnemite's Volt Switch, and Scarf Pawniard for trapping because it can also Knock Off Fighting-types for Zigzagoon.
- Then I decided to make the rest of the mons potential wincons so that the team can still support Zigzagoon but isn't reliant on it. Calm Mind Spritzee appreciates Gastly being trapped and can help to prevent opposing Scraggy/Shellder/Timburr sweeps; it also heavily damages Pawniard and scarf Magnemite for Zigzagoon. Carvanha wall-breaks in general and helps against Ponyta. Croagunk checks Scraggy/Omanyte/Tirtouga and potentially lures in Porygon.
- This team may have trouble against opposing Foongus, and a well-played Fletchling, Croagunk, Gastly, or Magnemite may be irritating at all. That being said, this team has enough win conditions that good plays will usually be a much bigger factor than match-up.
