  2. [2011-03-24 18::22:50] Doink: [DATE: MARCH 14th, 2016]
  3. [2011-03-24 18::23:10] Doink: [LOCATION: NERV HQ, ARKHAM, MASS.]
  4. [2011-03-24 18::35:11] » Ruru_Fields left the chat room.
  5. [2011-03-24 18::35:47] » You left the chat by being disconnected from the server.
  6. [2011-03-24 18::36:07] » You rejoined the room.
  7. [2011-03-24 18::38:46] Doink: It's been a few weeks, but it seems like all the necessary checks have finally been cleared. You have been summoned down into the Geofront to a meeting room in the upper levels of headquarters.
  8. [2011-03-24 18::40:35] Doink: Inside is a remarkably bright, airy room, large windows letting in the golden sunlight which suffuses the interior of the geofront. An expansive wooden conference table takes up the center of the room, at which sits a nervous looking man in a white Science uniform. Joseph Archer.
  9. [2011-03-24 18::43:15] Ruru_Fields: walks in with a smile on her lips, moving over to sit next to the technician as opposed to across from him, she turns her seat his way and pushes back till she hits the next chair, restingher elbow on the table and setting an intentionally casual air. "Hello again."
  10. [2011-03-24 18::47:19] Doink: Archer doesn't seem nearly as enthusiastic. "...Hello, Ms. Fields."
  11. [2011-03-24 18::47:49] Ruru_Fields: "So, when last we met we were talking."
  12. [2011-03-24 18::48:12] Doink: He clears his throat. "Yes. Um, I've been ordered to tell you... well, almost anything you want to know. So... ask away."
  13. [2011-03-24 18::53:09] Ruru_Fields: "What have you been ordered not to tell me?"
  14. [2011-03-24 18::54:33] Doink: Archer "urk"s. "That's not—that would defeat the purpose of not being able to tell you!"
  15. [2011-03-24 18::56:59] Ruru_Fields: "Right, you don't have to tell me the information, just tell me what information can't be told. Subject matter, not content. You haven't been ordered not to answer the questionabout the question right?"
  16. [2011-03-24 19::05:19] Doink: Archer: "...I /can/ answer any technical questions about the Evangelions or yours in particular. Construction, maintenance, experimental procedures... that sort of thing. But nothing beyond that."
  17. [2011-03-24 19::06:08] Ruru_Fields: "Hmmm, what are they, on the inside. You hesitated to call them alien, why?"
  18. [2011-03-24 19::07:40] Doink: Archer: "Well, alien implies extraterrestrial. The Evangelions were made here, based on terrestrial organisms—er, they're from Earth, originally."
  19. [2011-03-24 19::16:35] Ruru_Fields: "I've never heard of an amorphous terrestiral organism of that size..."
  20. [2011-03-24 19::23:04] Doink: Archer: "Oh, well, they aren't around anymore. At least, not naturally. The Evangelions were made from genetic material recovered from... well, from what remains we could find."
  21. [2011-03-24 19::26:44] Ruru_Fields: "Where did you find these remains?"
  22. [2011-03-24 19::28:40] Doink: He frowns. "Antarctica. But I, um,  really can't say much more than that."
  23. [2011-03-24 19::43:43] Ruru_Fields: "Terrestrially based monstrosities, interesting. Tell me about the construction, could you give me a history? AN overview? How did the project come about?"
  24. [2011-03-24 19::51:55] Doink: Archer: "Um, to be honest, I only know so much. Project E is pretty huge, and they pretty much only tell us what we need to know."
  25. [2011-03-24 19::54:35] Doink: Archer: "I mostly work on the theoretical and technical stuff, so... they keep me away from the history. Probably on purpose."
  26. [2011-03-24 19::55:01] Doink: Archer: "The Field Teams are the only ones who get to know that stuff."
  27. [2011-03-24 20::00:50] Ruru_Fields: "Interesting, I'll have to find out more. Tell me about my Eva then, in particular. You mentioned experimental procedures, I want to know more about the care and disposition of my partner."
  28. [2011-03-24 20::05:00] Doink: Archer: "Well, let's see... 05 was the first standardized model we developed here at Arkham. The only other one constructed here was 01 and the 00 prototype, and they were both experimental models. The design of 06," and he frowns as if the thought was unpleasant, "was based on 05, and any future models we produce will probably be the same."
  29. [2011-03-24 20::07:03] Doink: Archer: "As I think I said before, it was constructed by binding the base organism to a frame and inserting control circuitry into its nervous system to allow a human pilot to interface with it safely... the creatures are strong, but they need a human will to direct them to do anything."
  30. [2011-03-24 20::08:49] Ruru_Fields: "Left to their owndevices what happens?"
  31. [2011-03-24 20::10:36] Doink: Archer: "They behave instinctually. Occasionally they try to destroy the frame and revert to their previous state, and they typically seek organic matter to consume. They also react extremely negatively to the presence of, um, other beings with AT fields."
  32. [2011-03-24 20::13:25] Ruru_Fields: "Sounds about right. Antarctica, well at least I know where to look. If at all possible I'd like to take the crew that works on my EVA out for dinner, I owe you my life after all." She grins.
  33. [2011-03-24 20::17:16] Doink: Archer blinks. "That, um, would be nice, actually. I think they'd like that. Although it's a pretty big team..."
  34. [2011-03-24 20::17:53] Ruru_Fields: "I make a couple hundred a week doing this, I might have to embezzle the funds. Would you help me with that?"
  35. [2011-03-24 20::20:11] Doink: He waves his hands in protest. "N-no, let's not go there. But, well, they'll throw money at you pilots for just about anything really. You could probably get it pushed through." He settles back in his chair. "I mean, you got me all the way up here."
  36. [2011-03-24 20::20:45] Ruru_Fields: "You have a fear of heights?"
  37. [2011-03-24 20::22:32] Doink: He lets out a nervous chuckle. "Only metaphorically. When you've been with NERV for awhile... you learn to be careful of those above you, I guess."
  38. [2011-03-24 20::23:48] Ruru_Fields: "That only makes sense. I'll probably take over this place someday if I survive the war, if I do I'll try not to be quite as scary as our commander."
  39. [2011-03-24 20::23:59] Ruru_Fields: winks conspiritorialy.
  40. [2011-03-24 20::25:28] Doink: Archer shakes his head, but he's smiling. "I hope so. Then maybe I'll finally get up for a promotion."
  41. [2011-03-24 20::28:06] Ruru_Fields: "Well you're doing a great job so far."
  42. [2011-03-24 20::33:04] Doink: "Thanks. It's kind of a thankless job, usually. What with being totally classified and all. We don't usually get to, you know, see what our work is doing."
  43. [2011-03-24 20::35:19] Ruru_Fields: "You're saving lives, mine every time I go out. I couldn't be more thankful or interested in the people wiho take care of y partner for me... I wish I could lend more of a hand."
  44. [2011-03-24 20::37:40] Doink: He scratches the back of his head. "Well, you're the one doing the other half of the work. All we can do is keep the thing running, not actually use it..."
  45. [2011-03-24 20::38:53] Doink: "But, well, I can't actually give you authorization to do anything. I'm just a researcher, you have more influence around here than I do."
  46. [2011-03-24 20::39:35] Ruru_Fields: "We'll see, we'll see."
  47. [2011-03-24 20::40:18] Doink: He nods. "I don't even know how you got permission to get me up here. So maybe you could convince someone yourself, or something."
  48. [2011-03-24 20::44:23] Ruru_Fields: "Keeping me happy is infintely prefferable to angering me, basically."
  49. [2011-03-24 20::45:32] Doink: He shrugs. "Probably. You're lucky, at my level they just tell you to keep quiet and don't ask too many questions."
  50. [2011-03-24 20::46:09] Ruru_Fields: "At my level fish people come to kill us in our school."
  51. [2011-03-24 20::46:47] Doink: "...Good point."
  52. [2011-03-24 20::55:53] Doink: [SESSION END]
