Well, you did it. You made it to Equestria. The promise land. A utopia. A world without strife.

And you hate it.

It nothing like you expected. Things are too different. Not the way they are is the show. For whatever reason, everyday is a living hell to you. You barely get by, with just enough bits to feed yourself and not much else. You don't click with any of the ponies and none of them have gone out of their way to befriend you. Most days are lonely.

To make it worse, reminders of what you gave up on earth are cropping up everywhere. No matter where you look, you see something that makes your heart ache with homesickness.

A mother and her foal? A reminder that your own parents are gone now.
A young couple on a park bench? You see nothing but yourself and your last lover, but know it's not real.
Some laughing friends exiting a late night bar? Pain in your chest, as they all sound eerily like YOUR old friends.

You can't even try to earn your attention, as it seems like every adventure happens too far away, and human talents pale in comparison to magic.

It finally happens. No matter how strong you are, you are just one man. And you are a man who hit his breaking point. You though it would never come to this, but you see the ultimate sin as the last choice.

You prepare to commit suicide. Something totally unheard of and unthinkable in Equestria.

But even that can't go right, as you are happened upon by a pony, who forcefully stops you at the last moment.

>Feel like shit
>You've been in Equestria for so long but it wasn't like anything you dreamed
>Several nights you cried yourself to sleep, realizing what you gave up.
>So you decided to end it
>You could no longer stand this nightmare
>This hell that pretended to be your heaven
>You brought yourself to a large cliff
>You figured the rate at which you would fall and the height would kill you instantly making it painless
>Because after all the suffering you endured, you just wanted a release
> You took a deep breath and jumped
>Every moment blazing through your head of what home was like
>All the things that could be or may never be
>All the times you posted on boards like /mlp/
>You cried wishing you had never stupidly accepted coming here in the first place
>And just as you approached the ground, something grabbed you and with as much force as it could muster it slowed you to a halt then placed you safely on the ground
>You turned and saw Fluttershy out of breath with her fellow flying animals who helped her save you
>You just sat there ready to weep, why did she save you, your nothing, you don't fit in, your dirty mind would only poison their perfect world
>Just as you were ready to let the tears flow you could feel Fluttershy hug you
>She was still out of breath but you could feel the love with every once of force she put into that hug
>It was like she was squeezing every bad thought of yourself out of you
>So then you began to weep
>You cried so much that suit was almost soaked from head to toe
>You probably cried harder in that one moment in your life than you ever had before
>And here was Fluttershy, the most skittish of all the ponies, comforting you, the most foreign and unknown thing
>She and her animals gave it their all to save you
>And you couldn't see why, you felt like you were just like a worthless blot on their perfect world
>You continued to weep there, time flew by, minutes, hours, you couldn't tell
>Because each time you began to doubt yourself she seemed to hug harder and harder
>Finally you passed out tired from all that crying and hurting, everything fading to black
>And then you opened your eyes
>You realized you were in Fluttershy's cottage
>All the animals stared at you with a concerned face making sure you were alright
>"Anon!" Fluttershy came rushing over surprised to see you awake already
>"You stay right there anon, I don't know what caused you to want to jump, but I'll make it all better
>Whatever she was cooking smelled delicious, and although you tried to protest laying on her couch, her animals held you down giving you a look of wanting cooperation out of you
>You sighed, you felt so pathetic, that the pony who is normally taken care of by everyone else is taking care of you
>You could tell that Fluttershy knew exactly why you jumped
>You could tell by the way she was treating you that there was no doubt she knew
>However something puzzled you
>You know she has a thing for animals and can understand them in a way other cannot
>But how would she know how you felt?
>You're no animal on par with a cat or dog, so it was as if she was hiding something that she knew that connected her with your feelings
>"The Soup is ready Anon!" she places the tray with the meal on it on your lap
>She looks at you eagerly awaiting you to try it
>You observe the meal: Tomato soup with ice tea and a grilled cheese sandwich
>So you take a bite of the grilled cheese, and immediately begin to weep
>This isn't some regular grilled cheese, it was as if the God of grilled cheese sandwiches had personally crafted it for you
>Fluttershy looked concerned "You don't like it? Is it bad enough to make you cry? I'm so sorry for making yo-
>You stop her by gently grabbing her hoof, you stare at her with a face still worn from weeping, "It's perfect..."
>You begin to scarf down the meal
>Each part of the meal so fantastically made, you can't help but cry at the wonderful flavors filling your mouth
>As you begin to finish the meal with the iced tea Fluttershy takes the tray from you, "I'll get this cleaned up for you!"
>She floats off into the kitchen and just as you finish the tea, her bunny grabs it for you and brings it to Flutteshy
>You begin to feel very cozy on he couch
>You try your best not to drift to sleep but you begin to nod off
>Try as you may you seem to edge closer and closer to falling asleep, worried she might think of it as rude if you fall asleep on her
>However, your exhaustion gets the better of you and you begin to lull to sleep
>Your dreams are filled with conflicting memories
>Memories of you past, on earth and you life
>Oh how you misjudged it, it was much better than you thought it to be
>But also memories of Fluttershy
>You subconscious starts having you piece previous experiences with her parallel with this one to see why she is gone so far for you
>Suddenly you are awoken
>Apparently the snoring bear must have woken you from your slumber as the bear's snores could probably be heard all the way to Canterlot
>It was dark since it was about midnight but the moon was bright enough to help you see what was in your surroundings
>You look across and she Fluttershy passed out on her chair using a footrest to make it a makeshift bed.
>You quietly creep up and then out the back, you feel the need for some fresh air after all of this drama
>So you sat there, gazing at the stars, trying to make sense of why she would try and save you
>Sure she was the nicest pony around but you had never seen her risk herself like that for anyone
>As you sat there lost in thought, you felt a slight change in the breeze
>"How art thou-I mean, how are you anonymous?"
>You turned to see Princess Luna approach you
>She's managed to improve her speech so she doesn't sound like someone stuck in the middle ages, which you always admired her motivation to do so.
>You've also seen her visit several of Fluttershy's friends but she has never approached you like this before
>"What brings you here princess?" you ask with a puzzled look on your face
>"I've noticed your situation on how you feel perplexed by Fluttershy's push to save you like that before, curious to know the reasoning behind it..."
>Your curiosity now peaking you edge closer to the princess who has, by now, sat next to you under the starry sky she helps maintain
>"And what might that be?" you question her, your mind hungering for the answer
>"Speak with Fluttershy and she will reveal it to you, I cannot speak for her as I cannot muster the emotion behind it like she can, however I also cannot guarantee that she will talk about it" She says calmly
>You sat there dismayed, curious to know but knowing that you don't want to force the answer out of her or Fluttershy, and the loss of knowledge still bothers you
>"Remember Anon..." she pauses waiting for you to face as you turn your head to look directly at her
>"This world is not as perfect as you think, I have seen your dreams, your previous life, and their are struggles similar to those found here. These ponies however believe that hiding those problems is the best way to handle them. I thought that too before becoming Nightmare Moon."
>You stare at her, more interested at every word as it begins to give you new purpose and outlook on life with the hope of connecting with others here
>"These ponies would rather take these problems to their grave, and yet I have seen the result of this from dreams of your world and I dread such problems here. So please, be a guiding light, help others as Fluttershy has helped you, we all need help sometimes..."
>And with that, Luna soars away back into the night sky
>She minds you of some wise teacher of sorts kind of like Yoda was to Luke Skywalker
>It makes you chuckle because you now start to imagine her as some little green critter speaking in backwards sentences
>You eventually lay back gazing at the stars, enjoying the moment of peace
>Luna's words giving you new-found confidence, that you might have a purpose in this world
>Of course you have no clue what you can truly to do help but you decide to let it bother you another day as you drift off to sleep on the soft grass with the cool breeze lulling you to sleep
>You awake to a bright morning and the birds chirping quite peacefully
>You walk in to Fluttershy's cottage to find a note left for you by Fluttershy
>" Dear Anon, I left some breakfast out for you to enjoy, I didn't want to wake you up since you look so peaceful sleeping there so you'll find the breakfast in the kitchen. Love Fluttershy, P.S. It was nice having you over, maybe we should hang out again sometime?"
>Fluttershy was always so sweet and now more than ever you only wish to thank her more than ever, so it wouldn't hurt to visit more often
>You drag yourself back to twilight's library, since your arrival to this world, Princess Celestia decided to give you room in her home until one was made for you.
>You are the only of your kind here after all
>And while Twilight world normally be ecstatic to research something new and unheard of...
>Unfortunately due to your hunger for all things meat and more dark humor, she began to regard you as just some kind of monster
>It didn't help that you felt alone to then have the leader of friendship be a jerk to you
>But you can't blame her, they lived a life without seeing real carnivores or omnivores so they don't really understand the meat-eating concept.
>Celestia manages to get some for you every now and then, ensuring that it is not pony meat, but this has made twilight still create a gap between you and her
>Spike isn't nearly as awful to you and is actually quite nice since he can understand the urges although gems work out better for him, he ins't treated with as much respect either in your opinion
>Luckily when you arrive twilight is nowhere to be seen but Spike notices your arrival
>"Hey anon, how's it going?" He looks at you with a large smile
>"Alright I've been feeling much better, Fluttershy took care of me and helped me feel better after..." You cut yourself off not wanting to think about the attempt at your life again...
>"Don't worry about it Anon, you don't need to give me all the details, us guys are tough and can handle anything!" He retorts with his chest puffed out
>You let out a snort, you tried to hold it back but the childish nature of Spike can be very funny sometimes
>"I'm not sure if I'm that manly Spike, but yeah, thanks for being supportive."
>"No problem Anon, I'm always here to help!" Spike gets back to sweeping the floor while you head for your room
>An addition was made to the tree house, a small coven of nice size to fit your large height and gave you comfortable room to work with
>You sat down on your bed trying to contemplate you next step
>Luna said that there was something that even Fluttershy needed to talk about, but how to have somepony like her talk about something like that?
>Within a moment you heard the door open and in walked Applejack, now AJ didn't mind you too much considering you were willing to help at the farm although not as good at applebucking but she at least believes in you to an extent.
>So as she finished asking whatever question she was asking Spike you lept at you chance and moved quickly to her side to ask her a question
>"Hey Applejack, I was wondering if you were willing to help me with something?" You asked her with an eager face
>"Sure sugarcube, what do ya need?" she asked with a friendly smile, she always started conversations with such a friendly smile
>"I was wondering if you might be willing to help me figure something out..." you begin to ask in sort-of a shy manner
>"Well I'm not sure if ay'm the best problem solver, but I'll do my best, why don't you walk with me back to the farm and we can talk 'bout your question."
>So no the way to the farm you begin to ask her after summoning up enough courage "Well, you see it's about Fluttershy..."
>She gives you a questionable look but not a dirty one just a sort of cautious/curious look "Alright, what's got yer mind in a tangle?"
>"Well after an incident, Fluttershy kind of saved my life-"
>"GOODNESS SUGARCUBE, WHAT HAPPENED?" She declares looking concerned
>You look away afraid to say anything about it, not knowing how she might react or think of you for stating such a thing
>"Ah'm guessin' it's something you don't feel strong enuff' to talk 'bout, hm?" She looks at you with a gentle face with some dismay on it
>You feel like burying your face until she begins to speak up
>"Ya know, I'll give ya somethin' you're a lot braver than most. Most ponies aren't willing to admit their darkest problems. Ah'm usually on the same boat. However, if it might help Fluttershy, well, I'd be more than willing to share with ya if it makes ya feel more comfortable."
>You smile a small smile of relief and give AJ your full attention
>"Ya know, my life wasn't all apples and fritters, I've had my dark moments too. I've never known my parents, never knew who they were, all I know is that they are related to the apple family."
>She begins to struggle with the next few sentences
>"I was left as a babe at the family reunion, no one watching out for me. I felt so betrayed, so hated, so worthless."
>She was barely getting the words out of her throat, her eyes filling with tears and once rolling now pouring down her face
>You embrace her, helping her face the pain, she's know sniffling and struggling to make comprehensible words
>"It's so hard,living day to day knowing your parents were so willing to abandon you, to leave you lying around like garbage. Ah know my family loves me here, but nothing can help heal the wound so completely left by that moment."
>She was now full on weeping and yet still trying to push the words out of her mouth
>And the harder she tried to say the words, the tighter you held her, trying to help her gain the strength to finish her statement
>"And so as result, I push myself, I make myself the best pony I can be. I want to be a pony so many others want to be and is cared for so much so that Ah never feel like trash again."
>She was breaking down completely at this point, you could feel her entire soul, poured out in that one moment as if she was finally letting go of a burden she held for so long
>As she begin to calm down you speak up
>"Well I guess we both have been there..."
>She begins to stare at you as yourself start to get teary eyed, trying your best to hold it back
>"When I first came here the only thing valuable about me was that I was unique.I was never treated like I belonged just another wonder to witness."
>You try to fight back your tears and you can't. Applejack hugs you as the begin to flow down your cheek
>"What do I matter, I'm just stupid human in a world where I don't belong who cares about me you know...I'm not even worth the trouble."
>"And yet Fluttershy saved me, saved me from...Taking my own life, she cared enough to save me...How could I even show that level of care?" You begin to weep
>"By doing everything you can to show her that ya care."
>You look up at Applejack who's smiling back at you with some tears in her eyes
>"Ya got a lot of heart Anon, and most of us ponies don't have that unlike you and Fluttershy, so if ya speak with her heart, I think there is sumthin you can give to her..."
>After you both calm down and stop crying you both stand back up
>"Now go to her Anon, let her know how you feel, and let her know how thankful you are for her saving you."
>You gave her a wide grin and then you bolted off to Fluttershy's cottage only to look back once as Applejack waved to you as you ran
>Applejack had renewed the fie within you, there was something worth living for, sure you didn't fit in, but you'd be damned if you didn't make the best of it.
>So with all your might you kept running till you made it to Fluttershy's cottage
>And so you took deep breaths as began to reach for the door to confront your savior
>But as you try to open the door the handle won't move, was it locked?
>You ponder curiously to find out why the door would be locked on a house that is usually never locked...
>You knocked on the door gently, calling for Fluttershy, "Hey Fluttershy you there? I want to talk to you about something."
>No response, getting a little concerned you decide to try the back door
>When you get back there you see her pet Angel trying to get in
>You can tell by the way Angel is frantically waving at you that something is wrong, very wrong
>Back door was locked, "Forget this door!" with all you might you slam into the door knocking it over and dashing up the stairs with Angel in tow
>You make it all the way to Fluttershy's room when you see a horrifying scene, there is Fluttershy hanging in a noose
>Your immediately kick into adrenaline mode, you find the sharpest object in the room and cut the rope proceeded to get the noose off of her neck
>No pulse...FUCK...
>You perform immediate CPR
>With every pump you press hard into her chest where her heart would be
>You blow deep breaths of air into her lungs
>You keep pressing harder and harder and putting more and breath deeper to get even more air in her
>You keep going and trying harder and harder tears falling from your face
>Angels breaks down and begins to cry he stops thinking it's all over
>Minutes go by and after trying for so long you give her once last breath of air the deepest you could muster and then all back on your back
>You immediately begin to weep, you couldn't even save the person who saved you, all your previous confidence was blown out of the water and you were wailing in defeat over her loss...
>Just as you had given up and were ready to accept her fate you could hear something...
>*Wheeze* *Cough* *Cough*
>You turned to see Fluttershy come back to life
>You hold her up, "BREATH FLUTTERSHY BREATH!!"
>After a few breaths her breathing stabilized and she seemed steady...
>She looked at you with the most pitiful face "Anon?"
>You gave her the best hug you could,"Don't you ever do that again Fluttershy, your better than that."
>She began to weep in your arms
>You both sat their crying for such a long time never loosening your grip on one another
>Till finally she spoke up "I still don't know why I pushed myself so hard to save you..."
>You looked into her eyes, fully attentive, waiting on her every word
>"I guess I was so desperate to find somepony to be able to console with, to find common ground with that I turned to you. Sure Rainbow is my best friend, but she isn't treated like you and me are."
>She's still crying pretty hard, it's hard for her to get the words out but you still listen attentively
>"I'm everyone's doormat, nopony cares if they walk all over me to get what they want, they'll even use me and trick me into doing things for them. And then they treated you like a monster, I always saw how helpful you tried to be but other ponies only saw you as some monster figurehead to hate."
>"Sure Twilight didn't think of you highly but even she didn't hate you to the degree that some ponies do. She was just so afraid of backlash because she already didn't have many friends."
>"And here I was, day by day, used as somepony else's doormat for their own gains and only my friends could stand up for me, I couldn't even stand on my own!"
>She began weeping this time, you held her real close
>"And even though I am he element of kindness, nopony even cares, they could just replace me with some other kind pony and nopony would notice, in truth I'm just the Element of the doormat"
>You never thought that Fluttershy would think so lowly of her self
>"And then I realized, I just saved you just so I could feel some relief from my pain!" she exclaimed
>"I'm no better than the ponies who used me, using you for my own benefits, I couldn't live with myself, being a doormat and then treating others like a doormat, that's why I tried to take my life. You don't deserve a friend like me, I'm a monster!!" She wailed as she broke down now creating a pool of tears at your feet...
>"Fluttershy..."you say with a gentle smile
>She looks at you, her eyes filled with tears, her beautiful hair all a mess
>"Fluttershy, you're no more of a monster than I am..."
>She begin to sniffle, tears rolling down her face, giving you her full attention.
>"I'm surprised that somebody even cared at all to save me, I felt I wasn't worth anything, what could I do to help? I felt so worthless..."
>Tears started streaming down your cheeks, her tears started pouring faster but her every featuring focused on you, waiting your next words.
>"But then you gave me hope, when you saved me, you made me realize that their might be something worth living for. I didn't know what it would be that would give me purpose, but I knew as long as I had friends like you, that even when I've lost everything else..."
>Then you begin to weep, trying with every once of strength to utter out those last words...
>"That I still have you..." you gave her a big smile tears now pouring down your face
>"Oh anon!" and then she hugged you hard, you both sat their for what could have been and hour, embracing one another and letting every uncontrollable cry out.
>Then finally you both calmed down and then smiled at one another
>then you spoke "You know what Fluttershy?"
>"What?" she replied with a smile still lingering on her face
>"I think I could go for one of your fantastic grilled cheese sandwiches best pony pal of mine!" You said with the biggest grin.
>She grinned back "I have no problem fixing food for my favorite human friend!"
>So side by side you both walked down the stairs
>You both were greeted by all her animal friends hugging her and making sure she was okay
>While she fixed you grilled cheese you told her funny jokes and good stories from your homeland.
>You and her chatted for hours and hours about all sorts of things
>And then finally you and her sat their with all of her critters and watch the sun set
>Bathing in it's glory you turned to Fluttershy and said "What a beautiful way to end a eventful day huh?"
>And so you all kept watching the sunset watching as with every second slowly faded away
>Just as the past you once had faded away behind you, and experience you would never have to share alone, again...
