- "Mama? Where are you?"
- A small Finneon darted through the ocean, frantically looking around for any traces of another living being.
- "Mama?" The Pokemon repeated in desperation. "Where are you? I don't see you!"
- Finneon's mind continued to flash back to the previous evening, just as he closed his eyes to sleep. His mother had told him that she would see him bright and early the next morning, as they were traveling with their school of fellow water Pokemon to find a new home to live in -- their current place had become discovered by less-than-friendly Sharpedo, and the older Pokemon of the school didn't think it wise to keep the children around.
- Finneon hoped his mother didn't meet one of those mean Pokemon on her way out -- but he won't know unless he finds her first, and that was proving to be very difficult. Nothing around him but plant life, rocks, and a lone Magikarp.
- Wait! Perhaps Magikarp saw where Finneon's mama had gone?
- "Excuse me, Mr. Magikarp!" Finneon called out as he swiftly moved towards the red fish. The Magikarp looked older the closer Finneon came, and gave him a warm smile when he approached.
- "Hello, little one. Good morning." The Magikarp replied. His whiskers were curled and his scales looked faded -- this Pokemon looked to be far past his prime. "Is something troubling you?"
- "I can't find my mama!" Finneon frantically nodded. "I can't find mama, or even my big sister!"
- "Hush now, child. It will be all right." Magikarp assured him. "Just keep your calm, and I promise I will help you find your family."
- "Thank you, Mr. Karp." Finneon smiled, using his tiny fin to wipe a tear from his eye. "I've been really, really scared!"
- "Naturally." Magikarp nodded. "I remember becoming separated from my Gyarados family as a youngster. It was quite the ordeal."
- "Did you ever find them again?" Finneon asked as the two started to swim. Magikarp nodded.
- "Indeed, I did. I just kept my cool, remembered that they would never leave me behind, and it turned out that they had been looking for me all the while. It was rather funny at the time." The older Pokemon explained. "I'm sure your mother and sister are looking for you as we speak."
- "I bet'cha they are!" Finneon smiled. "You're really smart, Mr. Karp!"
- "Why, thank you kindly." Magikarp chuckled. "I get by with what little I know. Say, young one, would you school happen to include Staryu and Goldeen?"
- "Yeah!" Finneon furiously nodded, his eyes lighting up at the mention. "My mama is a Lumineon, and my sister looks kinda like me, only she's bigger and kinda annoying!"
- "Well, I can't spot anyone annoying." Magikarp laughed. "But you see, there, between those two Staryu? Is that a Lumineon there?"
- "Come on, Mr. Karp, you know not all Lumineon are the same one!" Finneon giggled. "That'd be silly."
- "It's not silly this time."
- Finneon gasped in surprised, looking up at the sound of a familiar voice -- his Lumineon mother floated in front of him. She swam towards him, and hugged him with the fins on her head.
- "I told you to stay in the school, but you had to wandered off to talk with that Krabby!" Lumineon scolded. After a moment, she shook her head and sighed, hugging her child once more. "I was worried about you. Please don't wander off like that ever again, okay?"
- "I promise, Mama." Finneon nodded. "Mr. Magikarp here helped me find you!"
- "Oh, the pleasure was mine." Magikarp nodded. "You have a sharp boy on your fins, Ms. Lumineon. He didn't stop searching for even an instant."
- "Thank you for helping him, Mr. Magikarp." Lumineon bowed. "I'm very grateful." She looked at Finneon, who had started to swim past her and head for the school. She laughed, and turned back towards Magikarp. "As you can see, I must be going. Thank you again!"
- "Thank you, Mr. Karp!" Finneon shouted from the group. Magikarp chuckled, watching the school leave with a smile on his face.
- "Kids these days." Magikarp said with a laugh.
