Friendship is magic review

long ago, in a land called equestria, ponies lived a happy. there were planty of people in the fandom and everything was just swell, but then twileycorn happened and people started panicing, some left the show, but most stayed, the seasons passed and it seems that more and more people are leaving. every aspect of the community is suffering, the musicians, the writers, but most importantly, at least for me. the analysis community.

at first there weren’t many, just digibro, then he added some more, and more, and more. untill seasons 2-4 where the analysis community was at it’s peak. but before they left, they had a massive orgy of hate fucking and passion thrown in there for good mesure, as the seasons went by, and the analysts keept reviewing they haven’t noticed me a small abomination sitting there, i was the mistake of some and the pride of others, for i will evolve into greatness, lurking from the shadows i notice them talking about the episodes and not mentioning really important things, well i’m here to fill the gaps.

i set myself a few rules:
1 analysis every week or less
can’t re-tread old grounds, i can use what they said as a basis to something, but i can’t base my entire analysis editorial on what was said.
i’m allowing myself 30 skips, there really are episodes which have nothing new to say about them.
i will link the analysis videos which i will reffer to in the video

it’s time to clean up the mess.

friendship is magic isn't a proper intorudction to the series or a good pilot for that matter, as a pilot it fails because it doesn't meet the standards that the show sets for itself by the following episode, and shows the characters as skeletons of their future selfes, i think the best character introduction is one that shows the bare minimum and will build up on it in the future. i mean you probably can write two 22 minute episodes that set up 6 characters with unique personalities and then expand on them in the 2nd part while having a threatening villian that goes throughout it without it feeling poorly paced. okay, off to the characters.

pinkie’s character in part 1 is best since she has the best moments (unrelated to her being my favorite character) pinkie’s shreaks which at first seem weird to the viewer makes them later realize how important throwing a welcome party is to this character is, which makes her instantly likeable, or annoying to some.

rainbow’s thing is cute, but that inflating hair comes off as childish and offputting, at least to me but the set up of the wonderbolts being a thing that’s important to the characters is interesting, although from this episode we don’t really know what they are exactly, and rainbow’s laziness to go away to a challange perfectly sums up her character from the first few seasons.

rarity’s thing with the makeover is nice, but doesn’t show the character as much more than most of the g3 counterparts, the same goes for the others, also her wishing to go to canterlot is weird when looking at the show as a whole, i mean, why never go there? it doesn’t seem expensive or anything, you have a boutique. idk, it just seems weird, maybe it’s just me, also the saddles were a mistake that goes away in season 2, so them being there was  a horrible design choice. shame on you lauren.

applejack’s is actually pretty well done, with the character showing both her feeling towards apples and strong famliy ties, and care for others.

and it sets up fluttershy to be the weakest emotionally for the entire show, to leave a lot to be built upon, which the show delivers, but her attachement for baby dragons is puculior, but not impossible.

and twilight, which in 22 minutes is shown both as somebody who doesn’t care at all for relationships but is willing to embrace help from others and not push them away,not knowing what the customs of ‘a party’ are makes her seem more like an outsider which leaves place to be built upon for her to become more in tact with the rest of the group.

hmm, it’s like the characters weren’t horrible in the first place… interesting.

part 2 rolls around and there some things start to fall apart, every character eithre has her aspects go more in depth, or new character traits come up, which later in the series roll around, it also sets up their elements.



pinkie’s the best in my opinion, the song isn’t bad, i like it, the instumental version by L-Train shows its true potential, and pinkie laughing at the scary, while doesn’t come back later in the series, it’s still neat for the first episode, it doesn’t show her character, which isn’t explained untill the smile song in season 2 but is still a classic moment.

rainbow has to say no to her dream, although these clearly aren’t the wonderbolts oh well, this is a theme that later will be used in wonderbolts achademy, while in that episode it was a bigger deal, she still pretty much does the same thing here.

rarity’s thing is cool too, it shows how she is willing to actually give, which sets up for her to be the element of generocity, and that she isn’t a fru fru girl and actually lets her personality build upon what

fluttershy needs to save a lion thing from a splinter, she pulls it out and a cute happends, it’s cute. it sets up that although fluttershy literally has the word shy in her name, she is able to do something brave, and not cower in fear, as long as it’s related to animals.

applejack’s moment is worst though, i don’t even need to say anything about it, here are a billion reviews who said what i was gonna say.

hmm, it seems that every one of the mane 6 was set up and later got payoff for their actions or were developed further… hmmm…. it’s like this episode isn’t the worst thing since ever. welp i said all i needed to say. i’m done here.
