  1. Hi,
  2.
  3.
  4. Thanks so much for volunteering! During the last two weeks we have had many more volunteers then we could have ever anticipated, with people volunteering hours of service in almost every trade imaginable. Now after going through and reading each of your skills and capabilities, we would like to invite you to join our Open webOS Porting Group.
  5.
  6. As you know, the primary initial focus for Phoenix International Communications will be porting Open webOS to new devices. We will select an initial target device and take on the task of getting webOS up and running on it. There are several steps involved in this process, and each one will present a whole
  7. laundry list of challenges that will need to be overcome, but we will tackle each one head on and keep at it until our goal has been achieved.
  8.
  9. Before we can do anything at all, we need to develop a plan laying out how we are going to proceed, identifying the steps involved in the process, breaking them down into tasks, prioritizing them, and assigning people to them. With that done we will be able to pinpoint any areas where we are lacking in resources and then initiate another more targeted recruitment effort to get people on board who possess those specific skillsets.
  10.
  11. We realize that you are all coming from different backgrounds and bringing different experiences and perspectives to the mix. Thus, rather than have a single person create the plan and have it imposed on you, we propose working together cooperatively to put it together. As we are all also mostly strangers at this point (although united by our love of webOS), this will also serve as a good exercise to get everyone communicating and getting to know each other. As a part of this, please feel free to update your profile pages, providing information on your areas of technical competence, your amount of experience, and letting everyone know your personal hobbies and interests as well if you'd like. You can also choose whether you would like to disclose your full name to other volunteers, or whether you would just like to use a handle - that's totally up to you. Just be sure to tell us when you reply to this email, and let us know the handle you would like to use.
  12.
  13. Before we can do anything though, we will need you to sign the attached NDA. Although this is a community based project, we anticipate that we will from time to time be working with certain corporate partners who in order to support our project may need to disclose certain confidential information which they do not want disclosed to the general public. This may include confidential information on protocols, architectures, specifications, release schedules or the completion status of products and/or services that have not yet been released to market or even announced to the public. In addition, within PIC we may also have occasions where we have internal information that we may need to be kept in-house only (eg. meetings with potential partners and investors, release
  14. dates, etc).
  15.
  16. After you have returned a scan of the completed and signed NDA to us, you will receive an email from medwards@phxdevices.com with your username and password that will allow you to access our Open webOS Porting Group community, and the adventure will begin!
  17.
  18.
  19.
  20. Thanks & Best Regards,
  21.
  22.
