- Hey [name removed],
- A lot of people ask me this question and I don't really have any specific resource or whatever... I might try writing an article sometime and put it somewhere like pastebin or a blog or something.
- Anyway, here's how I find glitches:
- 1. Make a playlist of all current glitches in the game and become very familiar with how they work. Use these to make a list (mental or type it out) of tech you can use in a game to do certain things (like jump farther, clip out of bounds, etc.).
- 2. Become friends with people who speedrun the game. I know twitch.tv/flickyish and twitch.tv/surreal_ and probably other people run Ape Escape 3 so you should talk to them and watch them whenever they do runs. Speedrunners encounter weird things all the time and also are a good source to get ideas of what to look for.
- 3. Make an "ideas list" or wish list of what kinds of things you want to find. For Banjo-Tooie, I made a list of the longest Jiggies so I would know what sort of things I wanted to look for.
- 4. Look at each idea on your list as a puzzle and the pieces you gathered in step 1 and 2 as pieces to that puzzle. In the case of the video you sent me, the person jumped over a wall out of bounds. This is a common way to get out of bounds in many games (particularly PS1/PS2 era games, but it's also possible in some places in Banjo-Tooie [see my Witchy World video]). If there is a map where getting out of bounds to get to an area in it sooner would be useful, then look for places where you can jump over the wall.
- In addition to this, simply be familiar with glitches in other games. A lot of games have particular moves where backwards speed isn't capped. A lot of games allow you to swim through air if you enter water out of bounds. A lot of games have seams that you can fit through if you perform certain moves. Take what you know about other games and apply it to Ape Escape 3 (or whatever) and you might find new tech for getting out of bounds or whatever.
- I suggest subscribing to other glitch hunters' YouTubes in order to become familiar with not only the game they are working on but what sort of things are possible in games:

- and many others (check TASVideos forums for people who find glitches in games that are similar to Ape Escape)
- I hope all this helped! Good luck and let me know if you need anything else (✿◠‿◠)
