One looks like a younger Rainbow Dash, maybe Kid's age. The other... is eerily hard to make out. The photograph has faded unevenly, the image of the mare in the flower dress is almost gone.

We need to use to Amulet of Atonement, just like Daring Do, to turn it back on. Before Quetzalcóatl can manifest with all her dark power."

  38. [2015-01-21 13:24:13] <Little_Gloom> 3A blazing silver-blue light erupts from the lock, enveloping the powder horn. The horn is pulled from Golden_Dream's grasp, spinning in the air. In a bright flash that casts stark shadows across the walls of the pit, the horn transforms into a key!
  39. [2015-01-21 13:24:18] <Little_Gloom> 3The key is large, with an ornate handle shaped like a cascade of teardrops. The light from the lock focuses into a beam, drawing the key into itself.

  50. [2015-01-21 13:26:33] <Little_Gloom> 3The ship charts a course over the jungle canopy that takes it almost directly above the ruins of the Fortress of Talikon. There is no movement below. Not from the statues. Not from the vines. Not from the turrets or missile batteries... which, when looked at through binoculars or a spyglass, have clearly been opened and their innards raided.

  61. [2015-01-21 13:34:44] * Noble_Heart nods her head and frowns. "The map will likely be essential as well, yes. Doubtless the tunnels are still quite complex."
  62. [2015-01-21 13:35:00] * Get_Lost "if we had a steam engine and a coule of months i could have built a full fledged over nine thousands whatever digging robot... but okay, let's take the easy way for once..."

  65. [2015-01-21 13:35:21] * Bookwright "Right. And the map. Who knows? Maybe we'll be lucky and we can just shift rubble out of the entrance tunnel. Won't take as long as digging a new one."
  66. [2015-01-21 13:36:00] * CopyCat smiles. "And our friendly neighbourhood pirates are fixing up the golem for us!" She tilts her head, pondering aloud. "I wonder if they've finished already..." She turns to Mwana Wameli and grins at the zebra cabin colt. "Yus!"

  68. [2015-01-21 13:39:42] * CopyCat pats Get_Lost on the back. "Maybe you can attach a death ray to it! And then it'll be all *Hummm* *Be-chuuu!* Take that Mammoth tank!"
  69. [2015-01-21 13:40:53] * Golden_Dream coughs a little, cheeks flaring up. WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT STOPITSTOPITSTOPIT. "Erm. Yeah, let's err. Let's go get th' golem, then!"

  76. [2015-01-21 13:46:43] * Golden_Dream smiles a little, looking at Get with yellow eye. "So, you know. Maybe we could peek in on 'em."
  77. [2015-01-21 13:46:50] * Shatara pokerfaces. "It's perfectly normal to be a fraid of statues that are trying to murder you..."
  78. [2015-01-21 13:48:31] * Bookwright "I dunno about statues, but I always found monoliths rather off-putting. Big black slabs... Ooh. Just... makes me wanna throw stuff."
  79. [2015-01-21 13:48:44] * Get_Lost shrugs "if you say so..." doesn't look convinced... probably, avoiding the murderous statues both times didn't help her disbalief

Jugeote once again gives her service as a translator as Kifaa explains how to command the golem. This, of course, leaves Shatara as the only one to have understood the relatively simple instructions. So she is the once that Kifaa thrusts the gem-encrusted control plate to.
  88. [2015-01-21 13:59:36] * Get_Lost looks interested "so... does this thing know some sick moves?" looks skeptical "alright, let's see how it fares! parlay... beatbox!"

  94. [2015-01-21 14:01:24] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The golem stands at attention, then begins moving about the bridge, roughly at Shatara's guidance.
  95. [2015-01-21 14:02:00] * Bookwright puts a hoof to his chest. "Aw, you /do/ care!" He assumes a proud stance. "Let it be known far and wide that Golden Dream is the very best pony at thinging stuff!"
  96. [2015-01-21 14:02:20] * Get_Lost follows the golem. it doesn't dance.... preposterous! why did you build a golem in the first place if you didn't want it to brakdance! what a waste of good mojo!
  97. [2015-01-21 14:02:24] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The captain comes out, followed by Mwana. She addresses the group, and Mwana begins to translate... only for Parlay to stop booping and jump in.
  98. [2015-01-21 14:03:14] * Shatara tries to make it wiggle a bit for Get_Lost.

[2015-01-21 14:05:19] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The captain says (per translation), "I understand you want to test the golem on the rubble of the fortress below, and would like us to wait here until you are done. I won't have my ship and crew dally long, but you have your hour. Provided we get a share of anything interesting you find."
  100. [2015-01-21 14:05:34] <Mare-Do-Well> 3She motions for a couple of the pirates. "We'll lower the golem down on the treasure lift."
  101. [2015-01-21 14:09:09] * Golden_Dream shrugs. "We'll work out th' cuts later. Odds are we ain't gonna find much other than granite and iron, anyway."
  102. [2015-01-21 14:09:22] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Despite it being shaman-worked stone commanded through a plate of enchanted gemstones, Shatara finds controlling the golem to be nearly identical to remote-guiding a non-autonomous robot.
  103. [2015-01-21 14:13:26] * CopyCat cheers at Shatara and the golem. "Dance magic dance!"
  104. [2015-01-21 14:14:10] * Get_Lost cheers at the golem too! finally some good use of zebra voodoo!
  105. [2015-01-21 14:16:43] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Shatara manages to get the golem to dance, sorta. It doesn't seem designed for that kind of movement. But he can make it shake and shift about.
  106. [2015-01-21 14:17:51] * Golden_Dream pats Get on the back. "Now, let's test this here thing out."
  107. [2015-01-21 14:18:13] * Golden_Dream then hops on Noble's. "Shall we?"
  108. [2015-01-21 14:20:28] * Get_Lost nods, then whispers to golden "the sooner we thest the robot, the sooner you can test the colt...."
  109. [2015-01-21 14:20:48] * Noble_Heart nods her head, spreading her wings to descend into the ruins.
  110. [2015-01-21 14:21:39] * CopyCat stretches her wings, nodding for Get_Lost to climb aboard. "Yeah, test that golem/colt!"

  112. [2015-01-21 14:24:00] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A few minutes later, the group is standing in the broken rubble of the Fortress of Talikon, beneath the shade of the pirate airship /Cutlass/.

  114. [2015-01-21 14:25:18] <Mare-Do-Well> 3All around them, the unsalvageable remnants of the Legion's war machines and the statues of petrified zebras.
  115. [2015-01-21 14:25:25] * CopyCat lands gently, after descending beside Noble_Heart so their passengers could continue teasing/batting at each other on the way down. "Last stop, the Talikon ruins!"
  116. [2015-01-21 14:26:32] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The captain and Mwana are staring down from above. Maybe just watching. Maybe in reaction to the colt-testing comments made moments ago.

  119. [2015-01-21 14:30:15] * Golden_Dream continues to make her polite, yet firm displeasure known to Get_Lost. By continuing to flail her forehooves at her when she gets close.
  120. [2015-01-21 14:31:39] * Get_Lost decides to keep a couple of pony lenghts from golden. best solution to the problem yeah. solaris and problem solving: so working
  121. [2015-01-21 14:34:35] * Bookwright stands well clear of the golem. After all, he doesn't have a hard hat.
  122. [2015-01-21 14:37:57] * Get_Lost "okay shatara, try using it on a boulder... i'd suggest not to break the statues"
  123. [2015-01-21 14:38:22] * Shatara guides the big smashy thing into position.
  124. [2015-01-21 14:38:55] * CopyCat watches eagerly.
  125. [2015-01-21 14:39:30] * Noble_Heart levitates up the book to check the map and does her best to guide Shatara's tools to the right spot. "We believe this area here should be correct."
  126. [2015-01-21 14:39:38] * Get_Lost then, makes a sly smiles "let's see how good are thes zebras with... brutal penetration. she has no eyes, but there's at least a pony that could svear she's getting a glance"

  128. [2015-01-21 14:43:35] * Golden_Dream glares at Get_Lost. WHERE THE FUCK DID BRUTAL PENETRATION COME INTO THIS. She crept up to Noble and shuffles around to fetch the map. She leaned in close. "Noble, do you have a beatin' stick that I can use t' start hittin' them with? I swear I won't break it."
  129. [2015-01-21 14:45:34] * Noble_Heart blinks, looking down at Golden Dream. "We do not believe that beating that little colt off with a stick will endear you to him." She smiles a little. "We do have some weapons which might be suitable. But We have doubts that you could lift them. No doubt there will be something in these ruins you could use, if you are resourceful enough."
  130. [2015-01-21 14:46:28] * CopyCat smirks even louder.
  131. [2015-01-21 14:47:17] * Bookwright "Besides, it's my understanding that some ponies find being lightly beaten with sticks to be... arousing. There's no reason why some zebras shouldn't feel the same way. You might just encourage him!"
  132. [2015-01-21 14:47:22] * Get_Lost offers her opinion "best weapon against a colt? eyelashes." smiles, apparently not really caring she has no eyelashes, or eyes, for what matters, anymore
  133. [2015-01-21 14:51:03] <Mare-Do-Well> 3With Noble_Heart studying the map and providing directions, Shatara sets the golem to work. It takes about half an hour of digging before the golem penetrates the tunnels below.
  134. [2015-01-21 14:51:48] * Golden_Dream looks back and then looks at Noble with a sense of urgency. "It ain't Mwana I'm gonna start beatin', it's th' folks that're teasin' me!"
  135. [2015-01-21 14:54:49] * Get_Berry smiles at the cattle prod mentionin "uh, nasty..."
  136. [2015-01-21 15:01:32] * Noble_Heart frowns. "We do not believe they mean anything bad by it. It is just the way they are to their friends, it seems." She leans down lower and whispers. "Though that doesn't make it any less rude..."
  137. [2015-01-21 15:01:59] * Get_Berry well, since nopony looks brave enough, get turns on her night vision and peeks inside the tunnel
  138. [2015-01-21 15:02:51] * Bookwright snaps the book with the map closed and gesticulates happily with it. "Nice aim, Noble Heart. Maybe you should go into the mining biz!"
  139. [2015-01-21 15:03:36] * Noble_Heart straightens up. "We will stick to botany and protecting Our friends. Thank you." She moves towards the opening and lights her horn, peering into the darkness.
  140. [2015-01-21 15:05:24] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost's nightvision allows her to see clearly in the darkness of the tunnel. The lava tube travels a short distance before opening into an underground room, part of the Talikon Fortress.
  141. [2015-01-21 15:05:51] <Mare-Do-Well> 3In the other direction, the lava tube meanders off into darkness.
  142. [2015-01-21 15:06:28] * Bookwright "Watch your, um, eyes, Get Lost. I'm lighting my horn."
  143. [2015-01-21 15:08:26] * Get_Berry nods and the visor turns from green to pink "alright, go on. i switched on magical concentration"
  144. [2015-01-21 15:08:46] * Get_Berry "looks like there's a room down there."
  145. [2015-01-21 15:12:52] * Golden_Dream narrows her eyes. "Alright, Noble, Bookie, you take point."
  146. [2015-01-21 15:13:18] * Noble_Heart nods her head. She descends into the darkness, her horn glowing brightly.

The slab, which the caravaners know from experience is meant to descend from the ceiling to trap people behind it, is slightly off-kilter and has wedged itself in its frame with a foal's height of clearance, revealing rubble-covered stairs.

[2015-01-21 15:27:33] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The lock is absolutely ancient, far older, and made with stone tumblers and mechanisms that will not give way to the feeble pryings of bobby-pin and screwdriver. But Get_Lost swiftly estimates that the mechanics are similar enough that her lockpicking skills should be able to defeat the lock provided the right tools or assistance.
  158. [2015-01-21 15:28:53] * Golden_Dream avoids looking at a good half of her friends. She decides now's a good point to pull out her flashlight and take a drink of water.

  174. [2015-01-21 15:47:30] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost and Golden_Dream happen upon the same idea: Get_Lost could try guiding one of the magic users in picking the lock telekinetically. It would be tricky as all Tartarus, but it should be possible.

  188. [2015-01-21 16:07:42] * CopyCat concentrates and her horn starts to glow, linking her senses with Get Lost's. After a few moments she starts to speak. "Get_Berry, turn off your eyes for now. See through my senses and guide my efforts. My movements will be your own."
  189. [2015-01-21 16:09:11] * CopyCat sits in front of the lock and bows her head, reaching out with her magic and acting on Get Lost's command at the speed of shared thought.
  190. [2015-01-21 16:12:58] * CopyCat and Get Lost fumble their first attempt, needed to get used to the weirdly disjointed senses, but together they soon manage to manipulate the ancient mechanism and release the lock.

  192. [2015-01-21 16:13:50] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost guides CopyCat. Working together, CopyCat and Get_Lost defeat the ancient lock. Tumblers rasp into place, and the whole lock turns with the grinding sound of stone on stone. A deeper rumble fills the room, and the doors part, dust tumbling down between them. They each slide about about a quarter of the way open before the ancient mechanism fails.

  197. [2015-01-21 16:18:37] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The shadowed room beyond is a fair-sized chamber with six asymetric central pillars. Each is carved with familiar runes. Get_Lost quickly announces that the runes have that same magical "current" that you have seen before in the obelisks of the Shield of Rasdon.
  198. [2015-01-21 16:18:59] <Mare-Do-Well> 3To reiterate the connection, there is a small, pony-sized obelisk sitting just off-center of the middle of the room. It is made of gold.

  201. [2015-01-21 16:19:49] * Noble_Heart blinks. "We have entered plenty of ruins before. In this very valley no less. Why should this be different?"
  202. [2015-01-21 16:19:50] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The walls of the room are lined with military crates. The zebra Legion was using this room as a storehouse.
  203. [2015-01-21 16:20:57] * CopyCat starts to rummage in crates. Crates contained prizes!
  204. [2015-01-21 16:21:02] * Golden_Dream whistles. "... Well, fuck. I guess we are gonna have t' work out a percentage deal." She mumbles to herself, starting to rummage through the crates.
  205. [2015-01-21 16:21:34] * Golden_Dream starts thinking about all the ways she could word out an argument to get the best possible deal.
  206. [2015-01-21 16:22:02] <Mare-Do-Well> 3On what parts of the walls that the crates and boxes don't obscure, there are symbols and glyphs much like those on the walls of the Temple of the Quetzalcóatl Empress. Save these tell a very different story.
  207. [2015-01-21 16:22:40] * Noble_Heart moves up to take a look at the glyphs out of curiosity.
  208. [2015-01-21 16:22:52] * Bookwright sucks on his teeth. "Ooh, right. The cut. Hmm. Maybe we should just give them the gold statue?"
  209. [2015-01-21 16:23:30] * Bookwright leaves Golden_Dream to the looting and pillaging and begins inspecting the runes on the walls.
  210. [2015-01-21 16:24:09] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The glyphs depict the defeat of the Quetzalcóatl Empress and Her sealing in Tartarus. They show the building of the Temple of the Quetzalcóatl Empress, this Fortress and the obelisks.
  211. [2015-01-21 16:25:52] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The glyphs continue on the ceiling, and it is there that Bookwright and Noble_Heart see the image of a zebra holding the Amulet of Atonement. The zebra is depicted using the Amulet to...
  212. [2015-01-21 16:27:56] <Mare-Do-Well> 3...they're not quite sure. But there seems to be some sort of connection being made between the zebra, the Amulet, and what they believe to be a depiction of the golden obelisk surrounded by pillars.

  218. [2015-01-21 16:32:10] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Inspecting the glyphs further, Noble_Heart comes to the realization that the golden obelisk is the heart of the Radiant Shield of Rasdon. And that someone must activate it. A sacrifice must be made, facilitated by the Amulet.
  219. [2015-01-21 16:32:46] * Golden_Dream blinks. Oh. "... Shatara," She exhales, as if trying to laugh and failing due to due shock. "Did we die and go t' gun heaven?"

  221. [2015-01-21 16:33:39] * CopyCat wears a pile of linen on her head.
  222. [2015-01-21 16:33:48] * Noble_Heart frowns and tilts her head to one side, then the other. "We believe that this is the place we have been looking for. Doubtless the zebras knew where it was for a long time before Daring Do came here." She furrowed her brow. "But it may involve a more problematic sacrifice than we expected..."
  223. [2015-01-21 16:35:18] * Bookwright "What kind of sacrifice? Define 'problematic'."
  224. [2015-01-21 16:36:13] * Noble_Heart shakes her head. "We are not certain."
  225. [2015-01-21 16:39:03] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream pries open an ammo crate, and is rewarded with shotgun ammunition, and lots of it! (84 shotgun shells, 73 shotgun slugs and 35 magnum rounds)
  226. [2015-01-21 16:41:13] * Golden_Dream blinks, then gets to her hooves. "SHOTGUN SHELLS. SO MANY SHOTGUN SHELLS." She ran her hooves through the shells.

  229. [2015-01-21 16:45:58] <Mare-Do-Well> 3CopyCat digs into another crate and finds more cloth! Armored cloth, in fact. ( 5 mesh-weave cloaks ) And, at the bottom, very special cloth -- a sleek cloak of black silk with a gemstone clasp.
  230. [2015-01-21 16:47:22] * Shatara tries not to drool over the heavy rifle. Fails. Tries not to nom upon it. Succeeds!
  231. [2015-01-21 16:50:36] * CopyCat lifts up the various cloaks and ooohs and aaahs at their prettiness. Especially the super sexy little black number with a gemstone clasp.
  232. [2015-01-21 16:55:24] * Golden_Dream starts to just nerd out over the cannon of a rifle. "Fuckin' hell, Shatara! Is that a Type 3?" She looks over it a little more. "NO! That's a Type 3c! Holy shit, this thing was fuckin' built t' fuck up late-war power armor! It was so good at that the boys back home called it th' Blue Flash of Death, 'cause th' last thing that they saw before their systems crashed was a bright blue flash!"
  233. [2015-01-21 16:55:46] * CopyCat smiles and waves around the mesh-weave cloaks for her friends to see. "I found new things for us! These feel quite tough. But this one," she rubs the black cloak on her cheek. "Is soft and silky." She looks up. "Who wants one? There's enough for everybody!"
  234. [2015-01-21 16:56:47] * Bookwright "Ooh, I want a cloak! I like cloaks."
  235. [2015-01-21 16:59:14] * CopyCat passes mesh-weave cloaks to each of her friends before fastening the black one around her neck. Fashion trumps bullet-proofness.
  236. [2015-01-21 16:59:33] * Shatara nods slowly, continuing to stare at the weapon. "The zebras did like their elemental bindings...and shooting lightning bullets at machines makes terrible sense...

"Musta stocked up on shotgun ammo t' deal with th' local fauna." She looks back up at Copycat and shakes her head. "... And now we have one of those!"

Additional weapons count: two combat shotguns (sadly both in heavily used condition), six machetes (all used), five knife spears (also used) and a minigun. Medical supplies total: eight healing potions and two super restoration potions, as well as three doctors' bags worth of miscellaneous supplies.
