  1. ~~What is CISPA?
  2. CISPA is the acronym for the H.R. 3523: Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011. CISPA is reminiscent of the previous bills SOPA and PIPA. CISPA
  3.
  4. effectively authorizes any company - including ISPs (those guys that give you internet), social media websites (such as Facebook) and search engines (think Google) - to gather
  5.
  6. information on you.
  7. This information called 'Cyber Security Information' can be gathered without informing the individual that is being observed, and the individual is not entitled to be
  8.
  9. privy to the reason of the observation. Companies that collect Cyber Security Information under the bill are exempt from all legal action. Furthermore companies are allowed to
  10.
  11. share the gathered information with the government and certain other companies without any repercussions. Companies collecting the information are also required to file a
  12.
  13. privacy report with the government every year.
  14. The key danger in CISPA is that it uses incredibly vague language and gives both the government and companies a large amount of room to do whatever they want with
  15.
  16. private information. For the sake of freedom and privacy CISPA must be stopped.
  17.

  50. CISPA can be stopped, but only with your help. The most important thing for us to do is to raise awareness. Tell your friends about CISPA, tweet about it, reddit about
  51.
  52. it, talk about it where ever you go. Share this link so that others can read this and know what they are fighting.
  53. Sign the petition against CISPA at https://act.demandprogress.org/sign/cispa_facebook/
  54. Did you notice that Facebook supports CISPA? We did. Stop using Facebook, tell your friends to do it too. Whether you just stop using it for a while or delete your
  55.
  56. account you are helping.
