  1. Hi Colin and the BSDNow team,
  2.
  3. While not pure BSD, Windows 10 users can now use tarsnap natively in Windows without having to install Cygwin. I have included some backup and restore snips below to show that it works as intended. As the Windows drives are exposed under /mnt you can backup your Windows directories without any hassle.
  4.
  5. Simple steps are:
  6.
  7. Set Windows 10 into developer mode
  8. Enable the Windows Subsystem for Linux (Beta)
  9. Go through the steps to get it working and perform all necessary updates with apt-get
  10. Follow the tarsnap instructions for Ubuntu/Debian to install all necessary tools to compile and install
  11. Compile and install
  12. Setup your key and start backing up.
  13.
  14. As you can see, super simple.
  15.
  16. That's about it. Ping me if you have any questions and see you at BSDCan later this year.
  17.
  18.
  19. Cheers,
  20.
  21. Jason
