- >Be anon
- >You fucked up.
- >You don't know if you'll ever be able to show your face around your family ever again after what you pulled.
- >Your car begins to vibrate as a low bass sound hits your ears.
- >You pull back onto the center of the road; its not the time to think, focus on driving.
- >You shouldn't even be driving right now; the family reunion goes on for another two days.
- >It gets hard to see, but its hard to tell if the rain got heavier or if its the tears you've been fighting off this whole time.
- >After fumbling around for a few seconds, you put the wipers at full speed.
- >Doesn't help much, so you turn on the brights.
- >The light doesn't go far before its consumed in the dark of night.
- >Whats the point in trying anymore?
- >The only people you could ever reach out to will just shun you.
- >They're never going to forget what you did, yet they will never speak of you again.
- >You see a pair of lights further down the road.
- >Is life really worth living; knowing that the only people you could ever rely on never want to see you again?
- >Its hard to see through rain and your tears, the only visible thing being the not-so-distant headlights from the other vehicle.
- "Fuck it."
- >You pull your vehicle over into the other lane, seconds before you pass what is now obviously a large truck.
- >The truck driver had to time to react before you slammed into him, gas pedal glued to the floor.
- >There is nothing but light, and then darkness.
- >Beep... Beep... Beep...
- >You hear what sounds like some form of life support.
- >"He appears to be fine, other than the fact the was in a coma when you found him. Where did you find him again?"
- >"Just laying on the side of the road, near the outskirts of Ponyville."
- >"Were there any magical items near where you found him?"
- >"Nothing."
- >Ponyville? Where the hell is that, and how did you get there?
- >The last thing you can remember is driving into a truck.
- >How did you walk away from that, especially without injury?
- >Well, there's only one way to find out at this point.
- >You slowly open your eyes, the bright light assaulting your contracted pupils.
- "The fuck?"
- >Your whispers caught the attention of the two miniature horses in front of you.
- >One of them is white with a pale-pink mane and tail; while the other one is a minty-green with a light-baby blue and white mane and tail.
- "What is this place?"
- >They both just stand there, mouths agape, until the white one breaks the silence.
- >"Umm.. W-well you're in the P-ponyville medical center, in Ponyville, Equestria."
- "And how exactly did I get here?"
- >"Nopony has any idea, even Celestia couldn't figure out where you came from."
- "Cele... you know what? Don't tell me, it wont help. Since you can't tell how I got here, I guess there's no way back..."
- >The greenish one speaks up.
- >"Umm... what should we call you?"
- "My name is Anon E. Mous."
- >"Well i-its nice to meet you, Anon. My name is Lyra Heartstrings."
- >"And umm... I'm Nurse Redheart. Do you have any pre-existing medical conditions I should know about?"
- "Well, I'm allergic to horse fur."
- >At this, Nurse Redheart's stethoscope falls to the floor as she jumps with a mixture of fear and surprise.
- >Her hoof is pressed against her chest and she is breathing hard.
- >Its also obvious that Lyra is holding back her laughter.
- >After a moment, Nurse Redheart looked at Lyra, and could see that her snout is scrunched up.
- >She just glares at Lyra, clearly unhappy with the joke.
- >This just makes it even better to Lyra; it isn't long before she starts to crack.
- >Nurse Redheart turns towards you, shooting daggers from her eyes.
- >"Well, if you're willing to make jokes about your-
- >Lyra's laughter cut Nurse Redheart's sentence short, which prompts Nurse Redheart to glare at her again.
- >She calms down after a few moments, clearly starting to feel a litte uncomfortable with the Nurses' stare.
- >Nurse Redheart turns back towards you, still aggravated with your shenanigans.
- >"As I was saying, you must be healthy if you're willing to make jokes."
- "As healthy as can be. Now, where am I going to be staying?"
- >"Lyra and I spoke about this; she agreed to let you stay with her, at least until you can get your own home."
- >"I figured it was only right since I found you."
- >You spin yourself so that your feet are on the floor beside the bed and stand up.
- "Well, thank you Nurse for taking care of me. Now, Lyra, show me the way."
- >You follow her out of the medical center and onto the earthen streets of Ponyville.
- >The first thing you notice is the smell.
- >Or, the smells, rather.
- >An assortment of flowers, from roses to tulips, graced your nose with their enchanting scent.
- >Herbs and spices from restaurants are floating through the air, making your mouth water.
- >The smell of candy and freshly baked pastries drift in and out of your nostrils, tempting you every which way.
- >Then you notice the colors.
- >The inhabitants, ponies you assume, are a full spectrum of colors.
- >The buildings are all unique in their own way, yet blend together in a magnificent manner.
- >Then comes the sound.
- >Birds are singing their songs, as if they are single choir.
- >The friendly chatter coming from the ponies feels upbeat and welcoming.
- >Then comes touch.
- >The warm sun is washing over your body from above.
- >A cool breeze occasionally rolls over your body, abating the Sun's heat.
- >Its a sensory overload, taking it all in.
- >You hardly notice the cozy-looking bungalow Lyra is leading you towards; except you bump into a small, decorative fence outside the home.
- >"Well, this is where you'll be staying; let me show you in."
- >Looking down, you notice something new about her.
- >Shes a unicorn.
- >Now that you think about, you saw other ponies with horns.
- >It doesn't seem out of place in a land of colorful talking horses.
- >You also notice a strange marking on her side, towards her tail.
- >It looks something like a golden lyre.
- "Hey, whats with the marking near your tail?"
- >"That thing? Its what we ponies call a 'cutie mark.' It symbolizes out special talent."
- "Are you born with it? Seems kinda like cheating."
- >"Nah. We have to figure out what our special talent is to get them. If you couldn't tell, mine is playing the lyre."
- "Nice little place you got here; how long have you been here?"
- >"I've been living in Ponyville for a couple years now, but I only just recently moved into this house."
- >She opened a door pulled out some blankets and sheets with... her... glowy golden thing.
- "What the hell did you just do?"
- >"What do mean? I just just opened the closet and got some sheets out, nothing special."
- "Yeah, but you did it without touching it. The stuff just started to glow and move around."
- >"Wait, you don't know what magic is?"
- "Magic? Where I come from, the only 'magic' we have is parlor tricks, it ain't real."
- >She shut the door and turned down the hall.
- >"No magic? That sounds pretty boring."
- "There's plenty of stuff to do in my world without fancy magic. Although, it is pretty cool."
- >"Telekinesis? That's basic stuff. There's way neater stuff that other ponies can do."
- >She opens a door, revealing a room with a bare mattress resting on a low-lying bed frame.
- "What do you mean by 'basic stuff.'"
- >"More advanced magic users can do things like teleport, or give themselves wings, or even to other ponies that don't have wings."
- "Wait, ponies that don't have wings? There are ponies that can fly?"
- >Still using her magic, she begins to make your bed.
- >"Yeah, they're called pegasi; that's enough about Equestria."
- >She put the finishing touches on the bed and turned around to face you.
- >"Why are you wearing clothes? Were you some kind of formal event before you got here?"
- "Sorta, but humans were clothes all the time, since we don't really have a fur coat or the like."
- >"Really? Well, we might need to get you some clothes then."
- "I don't think that anyone will have anything my size, or shape really."
- >"I know somepony who can probably custom-make something; that will have to be tomorrow though, its starting to get late."
- >Sure enough, you look out of the window in the room, and the edge of the moon was starting to peek over the horizon
- >"Goodnight, Anon."
- "See you in the morning."
- >With that, she shuts the door with her magic and walks away.
- >You strip yourself down to your boxers and slip under the covers.
- >The beds a little too small, but you can deal with it.
- >It's morning now, and you're awake.
- >You have no idea what time it is, and you don't give a fuck; it's too early in time.
- >You shift your feet to the side of the bed, as to get up.
- >Upon getting about half-way up, you fall back onto the bed.
- >The damn thing is really low to the ground.
- >Eyes still half-shut, you move to get up again; this time you manage to do so.
- >With your arms dangling at your side and your back hunched, you drag yourself towards the door.
- >You never were a morning person.
- >It opens to your clumsy grasp, and you start down the hall in search of a bathroom.
- >After a few minutes of stumbling about, you find an open door leading to a bathroom.
- >You step in, shut the door, and start looking for your toothbrush.
- "Ah shit."c
- >You forgot you are in a land of magical talking pony things.
- >After a pause, you splash some cold water on your face and take a whiz.
- >While heading back into the hallway, you look towards the living room.
- >Lyra is walking into a room next to the living room; maybe it's the kitchen?
- >The stomach is now in control, and it is hungry.
- >The beast within you pulls you towards Lyra; no mercy will be displayed for any meal.
- >Upon rounding the corner, you find that she is in fact in the kitchen, and find that she appears to be making something.
- "What's cookin'?"
- >She's stirring whatever it is with a wooden spoon that's grasped in her magic.
- >"Just some cinnamon oatmeal, nothing special."
- >Taking a seat at the nearby table, you continue.
- "Ponies have oatmeal? I haven't had that stuff since I was a kid."
- >"It's a pretty common meal around here;"— she put the spoon aside and turned the stove off —"was it common where you came from?"
- >She starts to put oatmeal into a couple of bowls she nabbed with her magic.
- "It's common in some regions more than others"— Lyra placed the bowls an silverware on the table —"but let's eat."
- >Breakfast goes by fairly quickly, and, for the most part, is taken in silence.
- >You put your dishes in the sink and decide to figure out what's going to happen today.
- "So, whats the plan for the day?"
- >"Well, it's Saturday, so I don't have to work."
- >She raises a hoof to her chin and looks towards the ceiling.
- >"Uhh... We need to go get you some clothes, and I should probably show you around town; maybe we can find you a job!"
- >A smile comes across her face as she put her hoof down.
- "Don't you think ponies might find it kinda strange for something like me to be working around town?"
- >She dismisses your worries with a turn of her head and a shake of her hoof. "Nah, they'll get used to it. Besides, stranger things have happened."
- >You shrug. "If you say so."
- >The two of you head out the door and onto the mid-morning Ponyville streets.
- >A few ponies give you questionable looks, but most appear to be happy with a new face in town.
- >This time, you notice a few pegasi dotting the sky, and some of them were pushing the clouds around.
- >Wait, what?
- "Uhhh... Lyra, why are the pegasi pushing clouds around?"
- >"That's simple, pegasi control the weather. They're the only ones who can touch clouds, so they move them around according to a schedule."
- >You just accept the fact and continue following.
- >It isn't long before Lyra leads you into what looks like an overdone carousel.
- >"Well, hello Lyra. Its a pleasant surprise to see you here. And, errr.. who is this that you brought with you?"
- >A white unicorn, with an eloquent royal purple mane and matching tail, is squinting at you behind some small red glasses.
- >"Rarity, this is Anon. He's that mysterious creature that showed up a couple days ago; I decide to take him in until he can get a home of his own." She's holding a hoof out in your general direction.
- >"Ah. Well, I must say it's a pleasure to meet you Anon. Now, may I ask, what brings you hear today?"
- "I need some clothes, Miss Rarity, and as you can probably tell, I'm going to need them custom made."
- >You can't help but call her 'miss' with the way she carries herself.
- >She raises her hoof up and stomps it back down as she raises her head.
- >"Well, you have come to the right mare! Let me just get you to step over here, so that I can get your measurements."
- >She leads you over to a small platform that is surrounded by large mirrors.
- >Using her magic, she begins to wrap a measuring tape.
- >You notice that her magic is a light blue, rather than a golden color.
- >After a few minutes of her measuring you and scribbling, she puts the measuring tape down.
- >"Well, I should be able to work with this. I'll have a few outfits ready for you tomorrow."
- "It is very much appreciated."
- >"Anytime, dear."
- >Lyra puts her hoof up to her mouth and lets out a small giggle.
- >"Come on, Anon; we can't stay here all day. I need to show you the way around town."
- >Once outside the shop, you begi-
- >"So, you're already hitting on the mares, huh?"
- >One of your hands immediately goes to the back of your neck, while the other sticks out in front of you, palm up.
- "What?! No, I was just trying to be respectful."
- >"What, and you're not going to be respectful to the mare who took you in?"
- >Fuck. You had no idea Lyra was so... insecure?
- "N-no... that's not wha-"
- >Lyra giggles a little.
- >"Relax, Anon; I'm just messin' with ya'."
- >You let out a grunt, followed by a small chuckle.
- >You are going to have to get her back for that.
- >Lyra takes you back to the house before going back into town, so you know where everything is, relative to the house.
- >After sightseeing for a couple hours, you notice what looks like a giant gingerbread house.
- >Pointing to the sugary structure, you ask,
- "Hey Lyra, what's up with candy-coated cottage?"
- >She follows your finger to where the gumdrop galore lies.
- >"Oh, that's Sugarcube Corner. If you can't tell by the name, they sell sugary stuff."
- >You begin to walk away, when an idea hits you.
- "You think they have any job opening?"
- >"With how busy they are, I wouldn't be surprised... but, uhhh, why does it matter?"
- "Well, I thought you wanted me to get a job, so that I can move out one day; unless you want me to live with you."
- >"No, of course I wa-."
- >You place your hands on your hips.
- "Are you saying you don't want around anymore?"
- >"Err.. N-no.."
- >Before she can say anything, a shit-eating grin slowly spreads across your face.
- >She notices the look on your face after a few seconds and stops fumbling about with her words.
- >"Are we even now?"
- >You nod your head.
- "Even. Let's go see about that job."
- >You can't help but notice that Lyra has a small smile on her face as you make your way towards Sugarcube Corner.
- >You enter the shop to find quite a few ponies either in line or at one of the several cafe-style tables.
- >The two of you get in line behind a brown pegasus.
- >Given your height, you can see a pink mare working the register.
- >She sounds energetic and happy, despite looking exhausted.
- >It isn't long before you're at the front of the line.
- >With a large smile, the clerk greets you.
- >"Welcome to Sugarcube Corner, where treat is its own feat! What would you like today? A cinamon roll? A bannana nut muffin? Ohh! How about a chocolate cake? Maybe a-"
- >"Hey there Pinkie-" Lyra interrupts, "-Anon here is looking for a job, and we're wondering if you had any openings?"
- >"Mmhmm. We're looking for somepony to be a waiter. Mrs.Cake said that if anypony is willing to take the job, they can have it! As you can probably tell, most ponies don't want to take such a busy job."
- "Consider that position filled, Pinkie."
- >She looks almost as if she would explode with joy.
- >"Oh, that's superduperwondefullyspectacular! Especially since you're new in town! There's so many things we could talk about too! Like-"
- >"Pinkie, I think we should get going," Lyra makes a gesture towards the impatient crowd gathering behind you, "there's quite a few ponies who would like to place an order."
- >"Oh! Ehehe. Sorry about that everypony!"
- >You head back out onto the streets; a couple hours still remain before it gets dark.
