- >It happened!
- >Norman finally asked me out; I can't believe it took him so long to amass the courage to do it.
- >From the first day, I always knew he had his eyes on me.
- >To be honest, his crush on me felt more like a joke at first, he acted in a way I'd only believe from Sweetie Belle. Looking at me from far away, then turning his gaze away as I looked at him, I had a great deal of fun teasing him with that.
- >Did he really think I hadn't realized he has a crush on me? I'm inclined to think so; because, when he asked me out, he seemed to want to show me something new.
- >"Ary- Rarity, would you like to hang out with me tonight? I want to show you something special" he said as his eyes cowered away from mine. Well, little man, if you confronted yourr fear of rejection, I may as well give you a chance; who knows, maybe, you're be a toad waiting for a princess to give you a kiss so you can turn into a charming prince.
- >Come on Rarity, you shouldn't joke like that, you know he isn't half as bad as rumors say.
- >I wonder what kind of date did he plan; anyways, regardless of his plans, I'm wearing my best clothes. for a date, looking fabulous is a must.
- >The doorbell is ringing, it must be him.
- >Okay, just a last look in the mirror; you look fabulous but not overdressed; perfect for a casual date, you look like you care without saying I'm crazy for you.
- >I open the door to see my gallant gentleman.
- >At least, those were my expectations, because he looks exacly the same as every day, jus a bit more groomed. I think I may have overdressed. No way! he should have dressed in a way in which he would sweep me off my feet; he's the one in the wrong here!
- >What is there to expect? He wears a beanie on a regular basis. Calm down Rarity, you said you were going to give him a chance; it's not like he won't have to fight for it, but you can show him a bit of leniency, the night is just starting after all.
- >The little discussion I had with myself in my mind almost makes me miss Norman's amazed face. I guess my efforts did pay off.
- >"You look so beautiful..." It was somehow surprising to hear him actually saying it, I knew he has a crush on me, but he's never really said such a direct compliment to me.
- Thanks Norman, you also look good.
- >After that little exchange, we get on Norman's car
- >The ride is made pleasant by small talk and a radio station playing oldies.
- >I feel at home, but a bit disappointed; why isn't he saying he loves me, or talking about how pretty I am, or whatever! This doesn't feel like a date at all.
- >I keep a business like smile throughout the whole thing.
- >We stop at the park and go for a walk. I must confess that it's really scary, to walk in the park at night; however, he looks so calm and collected that a bit of his tranquility rubs off on me.
- >I feel safe, but still, I wish he would hold my hand or did anything romantic. I'm starting to doubt he's ever had a crush on me.
- >We sit on a bench still talking about our families, friends, school, our dreams; nothing to do with love. The conversation goes on until Norman takes a look at his watch and tells me to look at the sky.
- >"Wait for it." He says.
- >A shooting star crosses the sky, followed by tens of them. This is wonderful, I can't believe he had waited for such an event to confess his love for me. He really made a huge gamble there, what if I had fallen for someone else. Well his gamble did pay off, he thinks I'm so special, he'd wait for such an event; as if me accepting his feelings was a miracle as great as this meteor shower.
- >"Umm... Rarity," here it comes "isn't the sky wonderful tonight?"
- Yes, it is a sight to behold indeed, and I owe this moment to you
- >"You know, that's not the best part of this night." Ohohohoho, he's going to say that the beauty of this starlit sky doesn't compare to mine, I know it
- Really?, what is it, then?
- >"You'll have to wait a bit longer for that"
- >Come on, Norman! Suspense is useless when I already know how this story is going to end. I'll still give you points for trying; you obtained a passing grade. All you need now, is to say you want me to be your girlfriend.
- >We walk back to Norman's car. Once there, he tells me to close my eyes and to keep them shut.
- >After a five minutes drive, Norman gets off the car and tells me to wait, I feel the smell of food in the air. I guess we're near a restaurant. Maybe he'll say he loves me while we're dining on a candle lit table. Finally something romantic!
- >The car's door opens once again.
- >"Okay, you can open your eyes now." He says as he gets inside.
- What's that?
- >"This," he says like a salesman, "is the best hotdog in town. I got it at that stall over there." He points towards some dirty looking shop.
- >We eat in the car, and then he drives me home.
- >He walks me to my door and says his goodbye
- >"Thanks for hanging out with me A- Rarity. Tonight was very special, all thanks to you."
- You're welcome, thanks for the invitation.
- >After a moment of awkward silence...
- >"See you tomorrow!"
- Bye!
- >He walks away without even trying to get a kiss from me!
- >I have never felt as insulted as I feel right now. How could you? Am I not lovely enough for you?!
- >I see him off with a smile, as he gives me a final look before starting his car.
- >I close the door and he drives off.
- >Was that even a date?
- >I can't believe he made me eat a hotdog from a stall in the middle of nowhere.
- >There's one thing that was made pretty clear after this date.
- >That was the best hotdog I've ever had.
