Report on frequency of members featured in OP

I looked at 27 threads’ OP pictures. Here’s a pie graph: http://i.imgur.com/5dzrJgF.png

There appears to be a bias for Yoona, Tiffany, and Seohyun. The other girls appear infrequently, if at all. Yoona leads the count with almost a quarter of the OPs, followed closely behind by group pictures. Not surprisingly Tiffany is among the top posted (also unsurprisingly, only after the trip fany joined us did she start getting OPs), tied with Seohyun. Very surprisingly, Taeyeon has only had 1 OP to herself. In 6 months of recorded data, Sooyoung and Yuri have never been featured. The “other” category includes members who only had one OP (Taeyeon and Sunny) and two or three members paired together (ex. TaeNy).

When I began I assumed the proportion of OPs would replicate the popularity of the members in the thread. This was in part true; Yoona and Tiffany are both fairly popular, and Sooyoung is fairly unpopular. However. Taeyeon bucks the trend completely. One would think that the most popular member would have the most OPs. Jessica, too, might be expected to have more OPs than she does.

It’s also interesting to identify correlations between OPs and other data, even despite there being no causal evidence. Yoona OPs tend to have an above-average number of posts. Some of the lowest thread ratings belong to threads with Tiffany OPs. Hyoyeon OPs reach the bump limit relatively quickly.
