	Marco had turned to the kitchen to bake Stars birthday cake, he was still going over last nights events in his head repeatedly; even though he had apologized did he not want to?. Marco wasn't sure of much anymore lately ever since he reunited with Star..but no it wasn't then, he hasn't been the same since he first had the nightmare. The sound of Queens of the Stone Age more specifically Make it Wit Chu echoed to the kitchen all the way from Star's room; she had been playing it on repeat for the last hour bu tat least she wasn't blasting music from lame boy bands anymore so its still an improvement.

	The cake was in the oven the first layer anyways; Marco sat down going back to thinking about the last few days, he's been doing a lot of that lately and yet he still can't make sense of whats troubling him.  For Marco this is very alarming to him since he's always had everything "organized" mentally he was also sure of what he was doing and what he wanted but its like someone went into his head found  the filing room and knocked down all the cabinets and threw out all files that were inside and scattered them everywhere. Before that dream Marco went to sleep thinking the next day will be a normal day like the one before and the one before that and the one before that; sure was Star was gone but she'd be back too and things would still be the same; god how wrong he had been.  Within the span of 48hrs Marco almost lost her twice, either to sexually aggressive psychopath or by her own hand he was not prepared for either; he always had plans for solving problems, but he never considered these two events they just didn't happen to him and Star.

Marco stared into the distance still lost in his own head; the worse part is what if he starts acting around her like he did around Jackie? The way things are right now he already feels like two Marco's trapped in a single body and they both have different agenda's one to maintain their staus quo and just be together like they used to do when they were kids and the other who just wants to be together. "Find yourself a girl and settle down. Live a simple life in a quiet town" Oh fucking great Marco thought, now he's humming that old Raconteurs song; whats happening to me? he kept thinking.

"Star sure loves that song huh?" Marco's father walked into the kitchen snapping Marco out of his funk.

"Oh yeah, or she doesn't know how to take it off loop," Marco said with a chuckle.

"I saw her new necklace, she was staring at it living room  for the longest time; your handiwork son?" he asked.

"Yeah I made it, guess I got some of your art skills in my DNA huh?" Marco said smiling. "Balances out the cooking skills I got from mom".

"I noticed the diamond too, and here I thought I was just trying to mess with you saying you had to get her a wedding ring; didn't know you already got her something better that must have set you back a few paychecks".

"Few months yeah; its no big deal just wanted to give her a nice present I don't think she would like a custom fanny pack like that one year" Marco kept his head down as he spoke. "At least I thought that's all it meant, I can't trust myself with anything anymore". Mr. Diaz approached his son and gave him a pat on the back.

"Something bothering you Marco?"

Marco told his father everything, even going as far as to tell him what happened between Star and him the night before; he would usually keep problems like this to himself, but now he felt like he had to talk to someone; and kicker is in the past that someone would have been Star but now she is the problem, when he was done Marco's dad just patted his head and gave him ma hug and somehow it felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.

"Mi Hijo I love you and all but sometimes you over think things too much and when you do they tend to blow up in your face, remember that Jackie girl? The way I see it your problems began when you realized that you and Star's bond can be broken. Horrible things can happen to you two but in the end of the day none of it matters as long as you two can eat nacho's together and watch TV" Marcos father explained even though Marco won't even make eye contact.

"Marco look at me," his father said in a calm but stern voice. Marco immediately did as he was told and raised his head.

"Whatever is going on in your head Hijo, its not gonna go away until you firmly decide is it her friendship you can't live without or her love? and only you can make that choice no one else."

Marco nodded, he sort of understood this before but hearing it come from his dad just sent the point home.

"For what its worth Marco when I saw her look at that necklace it was like the look your mother gave you when she first held you the day you were born...a look of pure unconditional love"

Marco's thoughts drifted back to the Raconteurs song.

"Settle for a girl neither up or down
Sell it to the crowd that's gathered round"

First Marco had to sell it to himself.
