  1. Post China/Anime Expo/SGDQ Pastebin
  2.
  3. China (June 11-July 1)
  4. ------
  5.
  6. Holy moly china was crazy. I went in really worried that I would be miserable but I ended up having a pretty good time. I got to meet a lot of cool people and see a lot of cool places. The food was pretty alright, but it was certainly bearable.

  8. Week 1:
  9. First week of training, was pretty stressful dealing with jet lag and just kind of felt really slow overall. Ended the week with a trip into Shanghai that actually owned. That weekend was really helpful in making the trip bearable the rest of the time.
  10.
  11. Week 2:
  12. Training was starting to pick up, the first real competition happened during this week and my group was pretty lackluster which kinda sucked. We had arguments about how to approach the problem (mostly due to regional differences in business practices which is understandable). Got sick starting thursday evening. Weekend number 2 was spent in bed except for maybe 4 hours on sunday. I went and got lunch and explored Wuxi by myself which was really relaxing and fun. I went into a mostly abandoned mall and got to see a bunch of school groups practicing performances in the empty areas. A few of them actually spoke english and were really nice.

  14. Week 3:
  15. One day of training and then 4 days of working on the final project/competition. This week freaking owned. I could not have asked for a better group to work with and we just really worked well together. All the other groups were constantly saying how stressed they were and the whole time we were just like "yeah were doing fine". To top it all off we won the overall competition for the entire 3 week training which was nice because towards the end I was kinda getting worried about how not stressed we were. It really validated the amount of work we put into the 3 weeks to win the competition. We also won a prize thats for our local regions which is cool because its actually a higher money value than the entire cost of the training so when my regional manager gets back in tomorrow I can tell him.

  17. Overall China thoughts:
  18. Food - Some good some bad, definitely not as bad as I thought it would be.
  19. People - chinese people were surprisingly nice. Especially the ones I got to work with. Most of the people I interacted with otherwise were also nice (hotel workers, restaurant workers, etc.)
  20. Environment - Probably the most stressful part of the trip was dealing with people who spoke no english or very broken english. Even with some of the people I worked with I found myself having to come up with really simple ways to describe complicated things, but it was definitely doable.
  21.
  22. I would maybe go back to china for a shorter trip (no longer than a week) but I also feel like I got to experience a lot of what I would want in China.
  23.
  24. RIP my work phone. I lost it in Shanghai :( Have to get a new one but its not a big deal.

  26. Anime Expo (July 1-4)
  27. -----------
  28.
  29. Anime Expo was amazing as well. It was really nice leaving china and going straight into vacation. I got to hang out with Anime Land and Cyghfer and bjw. The convention itself was amazing. The Love Live Sunshine event was WAY better than I expected, and just overall the convention was really cool. Hanging out with cyghfer and bjw watching nisekoi was hilarious. I got to buy a bunch of cool stuff as well.

  31. SGDQ (July 4-10)
  32. -----
  33.
  34. My first SDGQ after going to 3 consecutive AGDQ's. I really enjoyed this GDQ. The location was really good, there was plenty to do and I got to hang out with a lot of my speedfriends. I also got to meet a lot of new people which was really cool. I didn't watch very many runs at the marathon but I will probably go back and watch a few VODs. To me this event was more about hanging out with people and just doing fun things outside of the event as well. Stuff like Putt'er There, Mall of America and the Casino were awesome ways to get out of the hotel and do things with buds. As with AGDQ the arcade was awesome as well. I will probably get a pop'n controller sometime soon since I had such a good time playing it and because theyre relatively cheap. Glad that anime land was able to make it to a GDQ together. Hopefully we can do it again. Hopefully I will be able to go to AGDQ and see people that I didnt get to see as much last week and the people that couldnt make it to SGDQ.

  36. Coming Soon
  37. ------------
  38. Bought Project Diva Arcade Future Tone last night. Will definitely be playing it tonight, hopefully streaming it as well. 200+ songs will take me a while to get through so expect a lot of it in the future. Also Tokyo Mirage Sessions will be coming soon to my stream for sure since it came out while I was in China. Other things I want to play/stream include: Overwatch, Danganronpa 2/3, possibly Pop'n Music Simulator if I get a controller, and a few other secret game ideas. Gotta get all my expenses straight from China before I buy too many games though so for now expect Miku, Overwatch, and Danganronpa.
