  1. Totally official difficulty ranking from easiest to hardest AE1 time attack
  2. Definitely not just my opinion at all.
  3.
  4. 19:City Park
  5. 18:Crumbling Castle
  6. 17:Thick Jungle
  7. -These 3 are the easiest as you have to optimize only a few seconds of gameplay and then you have anywhere from 10 to 20 or even 30 seconds of mistakes throughout the rest of the run.
  8.
  9. 16:Specter's Factory
  10. 15:TV Tower
  11. -These 2 are also fullchains, but the execution on them are slightly more difficult. Notably, Specter's Factory requires a lot of fast gadget cancels and some good luck (and the initial chain is tight), but you have surplus of 5 seconds of mistakes during it. TV Tower is similar, and you can utilize easier strats for a more consistent ending.
  12.
  13. 14:Monkey Madness
  14. 13:Sushi Temple
  15. 12:Dexter's Island
  16. -None of these are fullchains, and though there are some fullchains left they aren't easy ones to pull off. Instead, these 3 levels are all quick time attacks with few technical aspects. The fact that the timer is ticking for a majority of them, however, makes them harder than the fullchains above.
  17.
  18. 11:Wabi Sabi Wall
  19. -Another short fullchain with time to spare at the end, though making it to the gong room without losing the opening is nontrivial, and you also have to have a good gong room to finish.
  20.
  21. 10:Snowy Mammoth
  22. 9: Crabby Beach
  23. -These are the longest 2 in game time, but they're pretty quick in real time and don't really contain anything that difficult. Crabby Beach has a few parts that take some getting used to, and both have a bit of luck near the end. The execution on relatively easy though.
  24.
  25. 8: Molten Lava
  26. 7: Fossil Field
  27. -A couple more short ones, Fossil Field is tremendously luck based while Molten Lava has a couple tricky parts that must go right.
  28.
  29. 6: Primordial Ooze
  30. -A cut above the rest of the first hub due to the ghost car glitch. Technically a possible fullchain but you have to play flawlessly and get a bit lucky.
  31.
  32. 5: Frosty Retreat
  33. 4: Coral Cave
  34. -2 more brutal fullchains, one using the RC Car several times and the other uses a guided shot while boost jumping. You do have a few seconds to spare in both of these, but the skill level required for these are insanely high.
  35.
  36. 3: Hot Springs
  37. - This fullchain is insane. So many BJ2IJs. So many cancels. So many little things. Did I mention you have to get lucky and make less than a second of mistakes?
  38.
  39. 2: Cryptic Relics
  40. - Lots of cancels, clever movement and no recovery strats. You even have to bounce a bird off a wall that it can go through for 2 spare seconds, which is required to make the chain last through to the end. It's not a fullchain, but it's very close and needs incredible optimization.
  41.
  42. 1: Dark Ruins
  43. - A minute and a half of complex and technical movement, luck right near the end, many cancels, brutal chaining, a guided shot, timed hesistation, balance beam walking: this time attack has everything in the game you'd need to worry about. That's why I think it's the hardest one.
  44.
  45. To be honest ranking any of these past Wabi Sabi was incredibly difficult, and even ranking 16th and beyond was very hard for me, since many of these are challenging but for different reasons. This is the best I can do, though.
