  1. Hatched in Flidith to a fierce hunter and a revered Druid of the Air, Kryll was a rather curious Aarakocra. From the time he began learning to fly, he yearned to explore the surrounding skies. Due to this natural curiosity and affinity with the air, his mother took him under her wing and began training him to join the Druids of the Air.

  3. One day, while flying in the south-eastern area of the Grandsea, the peaceful sounds of the ocean were drowned out by panicked neighing and hoof-stomping interspersed with avian-sounding screeches and booming roars. Ever inquisitive and not having heard such sounds before, Kryll darted away from his mentor to find out what could be making such racket. A griffon pride seemed to be harassing a ship carrying horses.

  5. "A floating nest of wood? Who would do such a thing!?" he thought.

  7. Swooping in for a closer look quickly turned tragic as an errant arrow fired from one of the ship's mercenary guards buried itself deep into Kryll's shoulder, sending him plunging toward the sea, screeching in pain and surprise. Swooping down, intent on saving the young apprentice, his mentor failed to notice one of the griffons breaking off from the fight as it spotted the easier targets the two Aarakocrans made over the well defended horse transport. Before being consumed by the waves, Kryll could only watch in horror as the razor sharp talons of the griffon tore into his mentor's back and wings, blood and feathers falling down around him.

  9. Unconscious from the pain and impact of slamming into the unforgiving waves, his battered and broken body was swept up by the current and washed ashore on the coast northwest of Coriselt where he was discovered by a Druid of the Land foraging along the oceanfront. Ever a kind and gentle soul, the druid, one Ryala Elensar, hauled the fledgling Aarakocra back to her Circle, where she patched up his wounds and nursed him back to health. Not knowing how to get home from this strange place, Kryll stayed and continued his druidic learning from Ryala. Surprised that he was already familiar with the basic concepts, even if somewhat different than her own, Ryala found Kryll to be an eager and enjoyable pupil, and his training progressed rapidly.

  11. After years of learning about and listening to nature, Kryll's natural curiosity and drive to explore reemerged, and, despite the fondness he'd developed for his adoptive home and family, he became ever more pensive and melancholy. Ryala soon recognized the forlorn looks he often gave to the sky and suggested that perhaps it was time for Kryll to strike out on his own, to blaze his own trail and to follow his own path. Emboldened by her wise teachings and words of encouragement, he set off to the nearby Halfling city of Coriselt to begin his adventure.
