Karel Richemont, or better known as Karel Arthur de Richemont is Misa de La Fontaine's personal assistant in the Medical Department. He is a neutral; could be good or bad in the series. Karel is also one of the survivors from Misa's homeland, vowing to protect Misa as long she is alive.

He holds a great hatred towards Commander Erwin Smith, for Misa had fallen for Erwin. Karel is a possessive young boy, however caring. He often refers Misa in her former title, which is 'Grand Duchess'. He shared the same personality as Moblit; loyal and responsible. It's just that Karel is much more possessive towards his superior.

[Appearance]
Karel has a girlish face, is shorter than the average boy of his age, and possesses a skinny and frail body. Fair-skinned and thin, Karel is not much to look at first when the story begins due to his timid looks. However, his better features are brought out in due part to the training he undergoes.

He is described to have brown hair, mixed with a bit of pink tint, and gray eyes. Karel wore huge glasses in order to keep his disguise.

[Personality]
Karel is often described as timid and tend to worry about Misa's well being all the time, however this is just a facade. Before living in the Walls with Misa, Karel is a very devoted young boy who strives to protect the Grand Duchess. Being in the army ranks, he is ruthless; and doesn't hesitate when killing people. One of the example shown that he said to a subordinate that he will not hesitate to kill if someone would dare to harm or bad-mouth the Grand Duchess.

It hurts for Karel to know that Misa sees him only as a 'young boy'; since Karel harbored romantic feelings towards her due to her kindness and caring personality. Knowing Misa had her eyes on Erwin, he developed hatred towards the grim commander. Karel is also twisted minded, who would seize any opportunity to sabotage Misa's relationship with Erwin.

Not only that, he is intelligent and observant; caring for nothing for anyone than only Misa. He even joined the Medical Department for Misa though he doesn't really care about the patients. Through his charm and charisma alone, he is able to fool everyone; making them believe that Misa is dead for good; and also Misa to leave the militaries; saying that she would much safer that way.
Loving and being possesive towards Misa too much; he'd faked Misa's death, preserving her body in an ice just to prevent anyone from touching her. He is also known to be rude to certain peoples.

However, Karel meant no harm to Misa, for he said that he is doing this for Misa's own good. His sense of Justice blinded him greatly and most likely led to Karels' personality transformation over time. But soon, he developed a caring personality to the childrens that Misa is taking care of.

[History]
Born in Château de Suscinio, Karel is one of the nobles who is supposed to defend the Royals. And he was assigned to protect Grand Duchess Misa de La Fontaine of Orleans. Even after the king gave up his throne and led a normal life as a farmer, Karel would still protect Misa without her knowing from afar.

Soon later when Misa became a leading General in the military, he joined her squad and often accompanying her into expeditions and battles. He remained behind the shadows; not making himself revealing. Karel escaped when Misa was captured by the king's soldiers, but return soon after to release her from the cell. After her depart, he followed her behind after a few days their homeland was destroyed and infiltrate into the Walls; beginning a new life along with Misa under a disguise.
