Invoicera our TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award winner continues to update their product and adds new features based on subscriber feedback. We would not be surprised to see this service give FreshBooks a run for their money soon, they just need to add a few more support options.

  67. Invoicera makes it easy to customize your invoice templates. You simply go into “settings,” and from there you can choose your template and change any field name you wish. This is also helpful if you need to change the language of an invoice. You can easily create an invoice in one of 11 included languages or change the field names to the language of your choice and that language will display. With this online invoicing service, you can also customize the terms for your invoices and estimates. For example, you can set the number of payment reminders, auto-billing terms and notification terms. Or you can add your own terms and conditions to be displayed at the bottom of your invoices and estimates. There are five invoice templates to choose from. Each can be customized, but you only have five color schemes to choose from. Once an invoice is created, it can be sent via email, saved as a PDF or viewed as an HTML file.

The time tracking module can manage projects and tasks, can be used to log work time and includes a team timesheet. It does not, however, have a built-in timer for tracking small units of time. Expenses can be tracked and taxed and set as recurring or assigned to a client. This service can also store basic item information, such as name, unit cost, quantity, a description and two tax options. Though we think Invoicera is most well-suited for invoicing time- or project-based services, it can invoice product fairly well.

  76. Invoicera does pretty well in this area. It can perform recurring billing, even recurring billing through PayPal, and it can be configured to send out overdue statements automatically. This online billing service can apply payments from a deposit, manage credits and accept partial payments. Invoicera has a feature called "autobilling," which is the ability to make automatic payments with a clients stored credit card information, this is perfect for those that bill by subscription. However, we would like to see this online billing service have the ability to apply one payment to multiple invoices and the capability to create and email customer receipts. Although, emailing receipts is not a major issue since the payment gateway will send out a receipt.

Recently this online billing service added the ability to do recurring billing through PayPal, which is a nice security feature because it means credit card data is saved with PayPal who provides excellent security for its users.

We like that this service will let you store two addresses in different cities. You can also add additional contacts to a business and custom fields. This online billing service supports customer portals, which means that clients can log in to their account to view invoices and make payments. This is a great added functionality which increases the odds that your clients will make timely payments. This online billing service generally does not store credit card and payment method information, unless recurring billing is set up; if this is the case, the credit card information is stored utilizing 256-bit AES encryption.

We contacted them regarding their security protocols and discovered that they go above and beyond many with 256-bit encryption, rather than 128-bit. They also have a PCI compliant site. Online transactions are secured with 256-bit SSL. In terms of payment gateways, they work with Authorize.net, which provides some of the highest security available when it comes to online transactions. Authorize.net even provides the level of security that is required for items as sensitive as medical records, and they are HIPPA compliant. So with what Invoicera offers and what Authorize.net provides, you can assure your clients that their data is safe being stored with this online billing service.

We also like how the interface is organized: from the dashboard you can see a basic overview of outstanding invoices, tasks to do and alerts. Across the top you are given a choice of invoices, estimates, time tracking, expenses, clients, items, staff and reports, and each one of those has a dropdown menu of choices. We liked this organizational structure. Some online billing services reduce the number of top navigations bar choices by combining areas in order to appear more streamlined, but in the end you end up going through more links to get to where you actually want to go. With Invoicera online billing, you can usually find exactly what you need through one of the dropdown choices

  113. You can contact Invoicera by email or by telephone, and they post a few FAQs online. Unlike many online billing services, Invoicera keeps their blog fairly up-to-date. On their blog they post update information, discount coupons and more. In our experience, they answered all of our email questions in a timely manner; however, even though we spent quite a bit of time looking at the product and on their website, their live chat feature was always “offline.” This is because their chat support hours are Monday-Friday 10:00 am to 7:30 pm IST and our office is located in MST. However, they do answer their email queries usually by the next day. Although we found this service easy to use, we would liked to have seen help files associated within the product.

  118. We really like Invoicera, it is easy to use and invoices can be highly customized, particularly in regards to how fields display and invoice terms. This online billing service supports more payment gateways than most, and they provide good security. We really would just like to see a few things, such as help files, a built-in timer, the ability to create receipts and the ability to accept one payment for more than one invoice. But really, these things are pretty minor, and Invoicera is continually improving, so we will keep an eye on them.
