,,OPEN HOUSE & New Assistant Director,19/08/2013 16:00:00,19/08/2013 19:00:00,General,,,,,"World Ballet is pleased to announce and welcome Genoa Belson as the Assistant Artistic Director and Ballet Mistress of World Ballet School. Belson joined World Ballet in the 2012-2013 season as a Company Artist.  As a ballet dancer in her own right, she has a repertory ranging in leading roles such as the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and Medora from Le Corsaire.  She also performed many original classical and contemporary works, many of which were created for her. At the same time she has been teaching students of all ages for nearly a decade and loves sharing her passion for dance.

Her classes are notable for developing strong technique, musical acuity, and performance focus. Her passion and dedication to teaching and nurturing the artistic growth of young dancers is inspiring. At World Ballet, Genoa will follow Artistic Director Henry HernandezŸ?? own syllabus created for World Ballet in 2008 based on the Vaganova method.  Ÿ??Some of my goals at World Ballet include taking on some of the work in the production side with the company, teaching classes, polishing the repertory and helping the dancers to perform their best. I also hope to give students good, solid early training through the school, while also helping to kindle their love for dance.Ÿ?  Genoa says.
World BalletŸ??s preparations for the 2013-2014 season are under way, too. Hernandez and Belson are working on dividing their duties which include assisting with casting, leading rehearsals, and teaching Company and School classes. Hernandez will continue cultivating World Ballet success, which has thrived under his direction for the last five years.  This year he is using his international reputation to form new collaborations to take the company on the road to South Georgia where the troupe will perform their version of the Nutcracker starting this November and completing the last two performances in Tallahassee at Lee Hall Auditorium December 7thand 8th . Henry is also looking forward to creating the new Rock Ballet with challenging and new cutting edge choreography for the company spring performances.

Ÿ??I look forward to working with Genoa in carrying forward my vision of World Ballet School and World Ballet Company to continue and to develop a lifelong understanding and appreciation for the art. At the same time we offer complete dance curriculum trainingŸ? says Henry Hernandez, Artistic Director of World Ballet.
