Barnardos New Zealand is a not for profit charity whose main overarching goal is to “challenge and empower families, communities and society to make Aotearoa New Zealand the best place to be a child” ( ). In Barnardos 2013-2016 strategic report there are many key areas of the businesses that are outlined where growth and innovation are expected. The key areas of improvement that are outlined in the report, that will be addressed here are, the desire to work with other organisations to better help the children of New Zealand ( ), improve services that make a difference for children ( ) and to become a more financially stable organisation ( ). The ideas suggested that will look at improving these areas of the organisation are closely tied in with core ideas of entrepreneurship, particularly strategic management as well as innovation, particularly in a technological way. Four key strategies will be introduced that will help to address the three key aims that are outlined in the report, The creation of a smartphone application, The implementation of a self-fundraising system, Creating a corporate partnership with a bank, and partnering up with trade organisations to help create jobs for youth. All of these ideas will be interlinked with one another; in particular with the smartphone app we will be proposing to create. The report will also outline funding suggestions for each idea, as well as any temporary and permanent personal requirements there may be for each strategy.
