  1. 23:17 <lexvegas> fearnor: this is signal coming in from the radio to the PC as an audio input
  2. 23:18 <lexvegas> so if you have a strong signal coming in over the air, what your PC receives over the signalink is blown way out
  3. 23:18 <KM4IXK> 27 more to go, almost halfway there.
  4. 23:19 <fearnor> mmph
  5. 23:20 <KM4IXK> Don't you be mmmphing me boy.
  6. 23:20 <KM4IXK> i'll turn you into the grow house police! ;)
  7. 23:20 <snitch_> uh oh
  8. 23:20 <snitch_> task force comin
  9. 23:21 <fearnor> again, problem is that whatever software you use needs to tell the driver what sample rate/channels it wants
  10. 23:21 <snitch_> they shoot dogs on sight
  11. 23:21 <KM4IXK> I shoot most dogs on sight
  12. 23:21 <KM4IXK> if it's not an immediate neighbor. i add it to the pile.
  13. 23:21 <fearnor> digging further into it
  14. 23:21 <snitch_> i'd like to shoot one of my immediate neighbors
  15. 23:22 <fearnor> http://e2e.ti.com/support/data_converters/audio_converters/f/64/p/2426/221004
  16. 23:22 <KM4IXK> fearnor i would NOT advise digging into the dog pile.
  17. 23:22 <fearnor> here's one possible answer
  18. 23:22 <fearnor> the difference is the input levels: microphone vs line
  19. 23:23 <fearnor> It's a Windows 7 only issue. As PCM290x has no input volume, windows 7 "provides" one. In digital form.
  20. 23:23 <fearnor> The samples are just overscaled to produce the gain. To get a satisfactory sound quality, you have to set the recording levet to about 3%.
  21. 23:23 <fearnor> if someone can post that, cuz fuck reddit
  22. 23:23 <fearnor> Any products identifying themselves as USB Microphone inputs without programmable gain controls get treated with additional digital gain, within Win7.
  23. 23:24 <fearnor> also, sounds like it only affects 2902, not 2904
  24. 23:25 <fearnor> http://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/index.php?showtopic=69453 similar
  25. 23:27 <fearnor> for the record: i was wrong. this IS a windows bug.
  26. 23:29 <fearnor> http://www.ti.com/lit/an/sbfa020/sbfa020.pdf
  27. 23:29 <fearnor> and that's TI's note that documents everything about this problem
  28. 23:32 <KM4IXK> kill it with fire
  29. 23:32 <fearnor> i posted on reddits :P
  30. 23:33 <KM4IXK> thats about the same thing i think
  31. 23:33 <KM4IXK> when you're done, kill all wspr weenies too.

  33. 23:45 <fearnor> ahahhaha
  34. 23:45 <fearnor> much love for redditors
  35. 23:45 <fearnor> pointing out its a known issue gets downvoted
  36. 23:47 <Trinity93> http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/07/28/1406408/-The-video-of-the-police-murder-of-Sam-Dubose-is-apparently-so-bad-Cincinnati-is-preparing-for-riots
  37. 23:47 <snitch_> who the hell wants to live in Cincinnati anyhow
  38. 23:48 <fearnor> Trinity93: video doesn't matter. BLM already is prepared for riots, so there'll be riots
  39. 23:48 <Trinity93> wkrp in Cincinnati.....
  40. 23:49 <snitch_> the federal agents that protect the Hoover Dam requested enough ammo to fight a battle
  41. 23:49 <fearnor> why shouldn't they have enough ammo for a battle
