  1. ITEM #: SCP-5683
  2.
  3. OBJECT CLASS: Euclid
  4.
  5. SPECIAL CONTAINMENT PROCEDURES: As of ██/██/20██, SCP-5683 is uncontained. As such, current containment procedures are designed to minimize exposure of Foundation personnel to its effect.
  6.
  7. A transcript of SCP-5683 is to be stored alongside Research Assistant McCullough's physical copy of this documentation at Site-██. Access is to be granted only by Dr. Lanche or by Site Director ███████. Under no circumstances are any class A or B personnel to be granted access; this includes Dr. Lanche and Site Director ███████. No physical copies of this transcript are to be made; at any given time, no more than one digital copy is to exist, and it is not to be stored on any device with wireless networking capabilities. In the event of Research Assistant McCullough's death or incapacitation, another deaf member of Foundation personnel is to be entrusted with the transcript until further arrangements can be made.
  8.
  9. No Foundation personnel are to watch the television network Nickelodeon. All Foundation-owned set-top boxes are to be rendered incapable of receiving signals from said network. In particular, no Foundation personnel are to watch the cartoon 'The Loud House.'
  10.
  11. Any personnel known to have been exposed to SCP-5683 are to be subject to procedure 5683-Aleph. If symptoms of SCP-5683 exposure are still present following the procedure, then their employment with the Foundation is to be terminated, with amnestics administered as per standard protocol. Note that this will not nullify the effects of SCP-5683.
  12.

  19. DESCRIPTION: SCP-5683 is a song, consisting of notes ranging from 5 to 60,000 Hz, extending both above and below the human hearing range. Adult humans who hear SCP-5683 are subject to an anomalous memetic effect, which manifests within four weeks. The effect is both physiological and psychological in nature. The most common symptoms include:
  20. ■ Reduced aggression (100% of male cases; 80% of female cases)
  21. ■ Increased sexual drive (80% of all cases)
  22. ■ Decreased motivation in situations involving undesirable work (70% of all cases)
  23. ■ Increased attraction to the opposite sex, regardless of former sexual orientation (70% of all cases)
  24. ■ Playful behavior around children and increased positive attitudes towards children (about 65% of tested cases)
  25. ■ Reduced antisocial behavior (60% of applicable cases)
  26. ■ Changes to the subject's vocal folds, allowing them to spread SCP-5683 to others by singing or humming (changes successfully allow transmission in 50% of all cases)
  27. The combined result of these symptoms usually manifests as a desire to find a romantic partner and produce children. This may involve significant changes to the subject's lifestyle; however, subjects prevented from making these changes often become violent (10% of applicable cases) and/or suicidal (80% of applicable cases.)
  28.
  29. It is notable that 100% of Foundation personnel exposed to SCP-5683, but not subjected to Procedure 5683-Aleph, have resigned from their positions within six months of exposure; intitial research indicates that the same is true for about 20% of employed civilians. As such, it is critical that Foundation personnel not be exposed to SCP-5683, lest the Foundation become understaffed and thus nonfunctional. It is unknown what the long-term societal effect would be if civilian populations were to be exposed to SCP-5683.
  30.
  31. Deaf subjects, non-human subjects, and children are not affected by SCP-5683. Adult subjects who hear only part of the song are usually subject to its effects, but to a lesser extent than subject who hear the song in its entirety.
  32.
  33. Procedure 5683-Aleph has been designed to treat subjects affected by SCP-5683. The procedure involves repeatedly, and over time, exposing the subjects to a distorted version of SCP-5683 accompanied with images of [REDACTED]. While images implied to depict [REDACTED] were also originally included, it has since been shown that their inclusion actually reduced the procedure's effectiveness. See document SCP-5683-053 for more information on this procedure.
  34.
  35. ADDENDUM: On ██/██/20██, Agent Chris Savino of Mobile Task Force Eta-10 ("See No Evil,") who had been embedded within the television network Nickelodeon, created a digital copy of SCP-5683's transcript without authorization. This copy was later adapted into the theme song for the network's show 'The Loud House,' which premiered on 01/05/2016. Savino has since eluded Foundation neutralization attempts, and has been declared a Person of Interest.
  36.
  37. While the resultant song is of reduced effectiveness, partially because most civilian electronics can't play the song in its full complexity or range, this constitutes a containment breach on a massive and permanent scale. SCP-5683 has been declared uncontained.
  38.
  39. A total of ███ Foundation personnel were exposed to SCP-5683 before current containment procedures were established; Procedure 5683-Aleph was successful in reverting ███ of these cases.
  40.
  41. ADDENDUM: As of ██/05/2016, MTF Eta-10 has begun deployment of counter-memes, based on Procedure 5683-Aleph, to negate SCP-5683.
