- By the time they reached the cottage, the anticipation had brought the couple into a frenzy of sorts. William pressed Red's body against the door, wrapping his arms behind his back and around his waist, and kissed him passionately. Red grew breathless at the attentions, pulling William's head still closer.
- "Unlock the door." Red murmured through the kisses. William glanced around; it was late enough that there were no signs of life close by.
- "There is nobody here." He said calmly, sliding his right hand under his shirt to feel Red's bare back. Red couldn't help but hesitate; although he had grown very comfortable with their arrangement, he was not comfortable with the thought of their neighbours becoming intimately aware of the nature of their relationship. After all, they were the only normal people he had much contact with.
- "No. Let me in. Then you can have me." Red grinned, trying to be playful. William's grip loosened a bit, as he pulled the key out of his pocket and turned it in the lock. It opened with a **click**, and William allowed the door to swing open, staring at Red.
- "Okay." Red shrugged a little, walking into the entryway. He turned around to look at his companion; he stood, motionless, at the threshold. William's behaviour was strange, but 'strange' wasn't out of the ordinary for him. Red began to unfasten the last half dozen shirt buttons that had not yet yielded to William's affections, waiting for the man to come in to resume their activities.
- "What? Am I doing something wrong?" Red asked, beginning to feel uneasy.
- "I am just admiring you."
- "I thought you wanted to do a lot more than just admire me?"
- "What do you wish for me to do?"
- "I want you to kiss me again."
- "If you are lucky, I may yet." William said, with an uncharacteristic playfulness that led to Red making the connection.
- "You... you can't, can you?"
- "Pardon?"
- "You can't come in."
- "What do you mean?"
- Red grinned, drumming his fingers on the side of his head. "I remember now! Vampires need to be invited into houses."
- "You truly believe the myths?"
- "If they weren't true, you'd be in here by now."
- "You would believe that I would not be able to enter a house that I am leasing with my own money?"
- "Apparently not. Come on, if you can come in, then co-" Red paused, realising what he was about to say. "You would come in if you could. If you don't, then it must be because you can't."
- "Very well. You have got me. Please, may I come in?"
- "Yes, you may enter, oh great and powerful one."
