  1. http://europe.forum.stalker-online.so/
  2.
  3. -This leads to the main forums for the European (English) Version of the site.
  4.
  5. http://europe.forum.stalker-online.so/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=4453&start=0&lng=en
  6.
  7. -This is the thread to download the english version. The installer itself is a little over a gigabyte, and once you run it, it does everything else for you.
  8.
  9. Notes:
  10. -In order to play the game, you have to register onto the European forums, etc etc. Then head over to: http://europe.stalker-online.so/ and login after clicking on "Account" on the top right, using your forum info. Once you do that, you'll find yourself at a small account window. There, you'll be able to set up your GAME account, which is what you'll be using to login while playing the game, not your forum info. Once you register for your in-game account, you should be ready to go, if you have the game installed that is.
  11.
  12. -Do not have the same name or password as your forum account when making your in-game account; they conflict for some reason and the game will not allow it.
  13.
  14. -When you finally download the installer and install the game, you'll be given three icons on your desktop; keep them.
  15.
  16. -One will be a useless icon titled "Account Registration", which will be useless if you followed the steps and made an account already.
  17. -The second will be "Stalker Online (English)", disregard this icon, as you will be loading your game up using the launcher. Every time. This startup doesn't work, so it's always better to use the launcher.
  18. -The third finally is the Stalker Online (English) Launcher, which will check for updates, and then inform you if your game is ok to "Enter the Zone"
  19.
  20. Some tips:
  21. -If you manage to get to the login screen, if you see any Rouski lettering, that means you downloaded the Russian installer by accident, which is a problem since your EU account cannot run on the Rouski version of the game.
  22. -There have been reports of the game not accepting your login information, even if everything was done correctly. As far as I know there isn't a known solution for it.
  23. -The game has weather effects, the most notable one is rain; it is unusually loud in comparison to everything else in the game, so adjust volume settings in-game or through your Volume Mixer or whatever the fuck your OS has for sound control.
  24. -If you feel your game experiencing slow downs, commonly due to weather or being raped by a gorillion dogs, then adjust the settings in the Options Menu accordingly. Also, the Advanced Settings button does not currently work, so you have a drop-down list of 4 preset quality options.
  25. -Audio is a bit strange, as you can hear rain inside very large buildings, as clear as though you were outside.
  26. -Check out the controls in the Options Menu to get a feel for everything, and make adjustments if you want. Example being that crouch is set to "C", making it tough for a touchpad-based laptop.
  27. -In order to have cursor control in-game, hold down the left CTRL key. Your standard MMO windows such as equipment, territory favor, etc etc all have their own Hotkeys, and also an icon under the minimap. Get a good grasp of them.
  28. -Dying works similar to some MMO's, where you can teleport to a safe area if you choose, or wait a short time and revive on the spot, but with a 1/3 of your max hp. That health cut is a debuff that can only be removed by visiting a safe haven such as a town. These debuffs STACK, meaning 2 stacks will cut your health even more, and the more you die and attempt to "Wait the respawn out", the timer will increase with each death.
  29. -There are three ways to heal:
  30. -Healing items such as medkits.
  31. -Standing near a fire, most commonly a hollowed out drum burning.
  32. -Waiting it the fuck out, which can take a while.
  33. -Fireplaces not only heal you much faster than the other two options, but it also gives you a Well Rested bonus that can stack the longer you stay within the fire's area. This bonus gives you a % bonus in your movement speed, which is VERY useful for a young and inexperienced stalker trying to explore the wastes. The effect doesn't get better with more stacks, as far as I know; it just increases the duration of the bonus by a minute per stack.
  34. -DO NOT WASTE YOUR AMMO. This cannot be stressed enough, especially early on. Your bullets are what make you delicious Rubles, and without bullets or rubles to buy more bullets, you must beg from other players which is just a bad thing to avoid.
  35. -DO NOT BUY A WEAPON OR ATTACHMENT WITHOUT FIRST CHECKING THEIR AMMO AND COMPATIBILITY. You may find yourself spending tens of thousands of rubles on that new fancy AK-74, only to find out that you have none of the ammo, likewise for attachments, you may find yourself buying a flashlight attachment for your fancy PM only to find out they aren't compatible.
  36. -You are given a storage bank, use it. It does not store money currently.
  37. -You do not lose anything upon death, you only get the negative debuff that cuts your hp, so do not worry about carrying large amounts of rubles.
  38. -Your inventory has a slot limit and a weight limit, but if you occasionally organize and sell your loot, you'll never run into management issues.
  39. -Following up from the above statement, some items do not stack upon pickup, which is a minor problem. They can be stacked by hand, but it's not a big issue.
  40. -Quests do not have any map markers, other than specific locations on the map where a marker might say "Police Station", and a mission might say "Find _______ Building that lies between X and Police Station". The game is somewhat focused on exploring and not following little arrow guides, so expect to brave the unknown wastes if you don't exactly know where the mission objective is.
  41. -Some quests are repeatable, example being one a hobo gives you at the Station, he wants 10 Mutant Puppy Heads for 860 rubles, which is a great deal.
  42. -Did I mention dogs? They will be your primary source of income at the start, as the hobo repeatable quest is great to grind. This is mostly for buying ammo, as ammo for your starting handgun can be bought for 200 rubles, each purchase giving you 27 rounds. Eventually you can get enough rubles to ditch your rusty PM for a brand-spankin' new one.
  43. -Crafting is a bit iffy currently, so unless you know the exact components, and have the level for it, either sell the things you can loot off of radios, trash, etc etc., or store it in your vault for later use.
  44. -Talk to everyone. The game will not directly tell you if someone has a quest for you or not, you must talk to them if you wish to find out.
  45. -Your guns will degrade over time, and not in the general sense of the phrase. Your maximum durability will begin to decrease with usage, even if you repair it with a tool or by a vendor. Simply put, do not expect to keep one gun forever.
  46. -There is only one Armor Vendor in the first region, and he's in the Station. You will get a windbreaker, aka "Windcheater" for free by doing quests, so feel free to buy yourself a Rouski hat and some starch pants.
  47. -Enemies have a respawn time of about 1-2 minutes, so if you're clearing a house/making your way through an apartment complex/etc etc, do not linger where there are high populations of enemies, as they will spawn on you and fuck your mouth.
  48. -Did I mention dogs? The pitbull, calico, white looking dogs, one of the variants of the "Mutant Dog", which is a stronger form of the "Mutant Puppy" can wreck your shit in about 2-4 hits depending on if you have any armor on. If you somehow manage to piss off an entire troupe of them, YOU FUCKING RUN OR START BACKPEDALING AND SHOOTING.
  49. -The majority of the first region is PVP safe, so feel free to ask around for a few stalkers to join you in your travels, or for help. Now the second region, on the other hand....
  50. -Keep a medkit on you at all times; they are very cheap for their uses and will SAVE YOUR ASS during long expeditions in the Zone, where a fireplace may be few in number and far in distance, meaning you'll have to cut your trip short to hobble back to heal. Each one from the doctor in Station gives you three uses. Do not use them consecutively, as they will give a diminishing amount to you, so give it a few moments before applying a second one.
  51. -Leveling is weird in Stalker Online, where there's three types of Experience. Once you reach a certain amount of a specific xp, you will unlock 10 level points, and 1 skill point. The level points are used to move the green bar to the right, with each square being 10 points. Skill points are used to UNLOCK any ability that you have completely passed over with the green bar, meaning that you must use both, and not just assuming that the green bar unlocks it.
  52. -Typical MMO's have a Friends List, or some variant. In Stalker, this is either broken or not implemented yet. There is however a guild window, but you need to establish a guild by giving some guy in the Police Station a gun and a few bulletproof vests. Crazy, I know.
  53. -Teamspeak, Skype, or some other variant of VOIP is very useful in this game due to the lack of a friends list.
  54. -Do not be afraid to explore; you lose nothing if you end up dying at the end of a long journey of finding new places, except the wear-and-tear of your equipment for using them of course.
  55. -The English version of the game is practically Rouski-free, meaning that it will NOT be like DayZ: Coasts of Canned Beans, but always keep your guard up and if you do manage to stumble into a PVP zone, either run through it, don't enter it, or man-up and go in.
  56.
  57. I hope this is of some use to you.
