Session synopsis Oct 4 2015

The session began where we left off, just prior to assassinating “president Jackson” and being attacked by turncoat Tipsco soldiers. Immediately, the team set about finding a way out of the Whitehouse, as the entrance was now surrounded by enemy troops. Using his seismomancy, Julian found a secret underground passage that the team elected to follow. Inside they found a presidential emblem, not unlike Gustav’s that belonged to every prior president of the united states, contained in a box marked “IN CASE OF EMERGENCY”
After toying with some ancient mechanisms, the team escaped the city via the Washington memorial and set off to see the leader of Tipsco, Chris Turpin, who the team believe to be one of the lizard men from the whitehouse. On the way back, the team saw a news report from the Starrlight media group, outing the team as the killers behind “president Jackson”’s death, and telling all bounty hunters that a 500k dead or alive bounty had been placed on each of their heads.
After meeting with him and deciding that he wasn’t a lizardman after all, and that the men assigned to help the team were, the team formulated a plan of action.
The team was split into two camps, to go to Oasis, where Alexio believed the illuminati to be based, and the source of many of the states’ mysteries or to LA, the home of the starlight group to clear their name and find out some juicy information on their shadowy enemies. Eventually the team decided to head for LA, opting to gather as many allies as they could before the big confrontation. With a course of action decided, the team used one more of their special tickets to board a train to the west coast.
On the train, the team received an urgent beacon from the Ark, from Simmonds. Upon contacting him and opening up the portal, the team were shocked to find Katlin tied up and gagged in the portal chamber, surrounded by the team’s allies.
Simmonds laid out the charges, Kat was caught trying to bury a presidential emblem in the forest near to the portal site, thereby outing herself as a member of the illuminated brethren. Simmonds contacted the team for permission to kill the traitor, an accusation Kat denied.
After some grilling, Kat claimed she was indeed a member of the Illuminated brethren, and was assigned to the team in order to monitor them. However, she claimed to have no knowledge of the lizard people, the events of the battle of red’s fall or any other schemes, insisting that the order of the illuminated brethren was  an organisation of peace and law, steering the states in the right direction from the shadows for centuries. After finding out about their atrocities, Kat claimed to have attempted to cut all contact and pretend like nothing had happened.
This story satisfied many of the team, except Simmonds and Sam, both of whom had lost friends at the hands of the Illuminati. Eventually, the team decided to leave Kat under the constant watch of Sam, who was to inform the team of any suspicious activity and execute her if needs be. Simmonds, Sam, Kat and Skullcrusher to do a second investigation into the strange lasurite crystal in Oakley. The team also opted to switch out Hadron for Cherelene, seeing as her performance skills might be able to win the team some favours in LA.
In Starrlight territory, the team did battle with some mysterious anti-magic mercenaries called the Hessian Company, looting special antimagic weapons and armour. The team also took part in a talent show, the reward being an audience with the enigmatic Max Starr, leader of the Starrlight Group.
Alexandra and Cherelene both gave “explosive” performances, winning a place in the finals, along with many others, such as a magician named Malcom the Magnificent.
