  9. -=< Woke up in a rush >=-
  10.
  11. I was covered in sweat, but my skin cold to touch. Must have been another dream. Thank the gods that I can't remember it.
  12. I step to the sink for a drink of water. Despite having no idea what the dream was about, my hands are shaking and my heart is pounding.
  13. It must have been worse than most.
  14.
  15. Awake now, can't sleep again. Go for shower.
  16. advances down hallway. hears noise, a hollow creaking. Imagination? Spare room has been empty for two years.
  17. Slowly opens the door. Switches on the light. The room is different than before. Painted bright with rainbows and love.
  18. Child in a cot, swinging slowly from side to side, boat-like on a stormy ocean of memories and pain.
  19. Suffocating a wimper, advances to the cot. Staring up at her is a baby. A loving, joyous smile. A tightness clasps shut in her chest.
  20.
  21. -=< Flashbacks and memories >=-
  22.
  23. Her newly born child, and her loving husband. They had been together since teenagers for ten years.
  24. The child was a boy, and had been born on her birthday. It was the best gift she had ever recieved.
  25. A year passed and the child was beautiful. They loved it with all their fragile hearts.
  26. She wasn't working in order to care for the child. It was one day whilst the husband was at work.
  27. She had left the child alone whilst she was sunbathing in the garden on a particularly nice afternoon.
  28. It was only half an hour later when she re-entered the house. Her child was dead.
  29. The husband didn't blame her. Not out loud. He left anyway.
  30.
  31. -=< Back in the room >=-
  32.
  33. The child stared up at her now, beautiful eyes of heartbreaking sky blue.
  34. It had all been her fault. Had she been there it wouldn't have happened, of that she was certain.
  35. Husband appears behind her. Taunting dialogue. Protagonist apologises through the tears.
  36. Baby speaks also. It blames her. It tells her she was a terrible mother.
  37. The child tells her he was wrong to love her so. A waste of his perfectly good heart. The husband says the same thing.
  38. Screaming she runs from the room.
  39.
  40. -=< The parents >=-
  41.
  42. She is about to run out of the house, but when she reaches the living room there are some figures on the sofa.
  43. Edging around for a closer view, the figures turn. Her parents.
  44. They ask her to come and sit down, and she does. They smile and tell her how they found an excellent place to go on walks near her aunts house.
  45. They ask her how the child is doing. They ask her if her husband is still running the bakery.
  46. She tells them that the child is dead. She tells them that her husband left her. She tells them that he closed the bakery.
  47. They tell her she was always a crappy mother and wife. She was always so self-centered. She never thought about those around her.
  48. She stops crying and looks at her parents. They are right. Everything was her fault. She was always in the wrong.
  49. She was a negative factor in everybodys life. Nobody that knew her was thankful for it, no matter how warm their smiles.
  50.
  51. -=< The kitchen >=-
  52.
  53. She made her way to the kitchen, leaving her parents behind her.
  54. It had to end. It was a miracle she'd found a man willing to marry her in the first place.
  55. There was only one solution to her, and it was in the knife rack. Pulling out the largest knife she held it up to her neck.
  56. She thought back on all the mistakes in her life. All of the selfish acts she had performed. All of the messes she had made.
  57. She thought of her husband, how perfect he had been. She had never deserved him. It had been selfish of her to marry him. He deserved better.
  58. She thought of her families dissapointed faces, looking down on her and her pathetic existance.
  59. She gripped the handle tighter.
  60.
  61. -=< Awesome ending >=-
  62.
  63. She woke up in a rush, covered in sweat but her skin was cold as ice.
