  1. From: Symantec Alert Notification [mailto:updates@news.symantec.com]
  2. Sent: 21 May 2016
  3. Subject: Urgent! Your Immediate Response Is Required
  4.
  5. Dear Partner,
  6.
  7. Your immediate response is required to avoid triggering "Untrusted"
  8. warnings from Chrome for your customers' websites.
  9.
  10. We would like to inform you about a new requirement in Google Chrome
  11. and how you can help your customers avoid getting "Untrusted" warnings
  12. on your customers' websites.
  13.
  14. What is happening?
  15. Google is mandating that on June 1, 2016 all SSL/TLS certificates must
  16. be published on the Certificate Transparency (CT) public logs in order
  17. for a website to avoid an "Untrusted" warning on Google Chrome.
  18. Symantec has identified that you have customers with one or more of
  19. Symantec(*) SSL/TLS certificates that have not been published in
  20. Certificate Transparency public (CT) logs. Unpublished certificates
  21. can be the result of your customers' prior selection to not enable CT
  22. during certificate enrollment, or purchase of certificate before CT
  23. was available.
  24.
  25. What do I need to do?
  26. In order to prevent these warnings from appearing in Google Chrome,
  27. certificates without Certificate Transparency may be included in a
  28. whitelist that Symantec will provide to Google.
  29.
  30. Therefore, we will be sending you an individual email per customer
  31. organization so that you can decide on behalf of each customer if you
  32. want to whitelist their certificate information to maintain a good
  33. Chrome browser experience for your customers’ websites. You can also
  34. decide on not having the information whitelisted.
  35.
  36. We need to receive your response on all the individual emails you’ll
  37. receive by May 27th, 2016.
  38.
  39. How do I Whitelist?
  40. In order to whitelist your customers’ certificates, click on the link
  41. on each email that you receive from Symantec and specify your
  42. customer’s preference.
  43.
  44. If you do not agree to include your customer’s unlogged SSL/TLS
  45. certificates on the whitelist by May 27, 2016, all unlogged SSL/TLS
  46. certificates not included on Symantec’s whitelist may trigger
  47. “Untrusted” warnings in Google, Chrome and may cause operational
  48. disruption.
  49.
  50. Should you miss the May 27th, 2016 deadline, or if your customers’
  51. wish to change their CT preference to avoid “Untrusted” warnings from
  52. occurring for a specified certificate, your customer will need to
  53. replace, revoke and install a new SSL/TLS certificate.
