This basilica is one of the three channels along which foot traffic can move between the inner gate and the magnificent entrance to the citadel itself. Sweeping around the western side, the ground underfoot is paved with large, meticulously cut rectangular flagstones. High walls rise on either side, lined on the outer edge with shop-fronts and on the inner one with a parade of wooden open-air stalls that offer a multitude of small wares and fresh produce. Garlands of bright flags zigzag overhead, strung from one side of the basilica to the other in a cheerful decoration incongruous to the biting cold that is a constant in the area.

Garlands of bright flags are strung overhead in cheerful decoration for this broad, smoothly paved basilica. Serving as one of the ways to get between the inner gate and the citadel proper, the outer curve of the area is lined with shops, and the interior side has an array of open-air stalls with trinkets and produce. The flagstones underfoot are large and precisely cut, arranged in a pattern of dark and light that delineate an interlocking geometric pattern. Beyond the shops rise the tall, grey stone walls that encircle the citadel.


Also some kinda graffiti about festive awnings would be nice!
