They're shitters, that's why. Any DPS in even low tier gear can solo channelworks. Kicking a lancer is like acknowledging that you can't finish channelworks without a little DPS assistance.

That being said, lancers offer more DPS support than almost any other DPS class in the game, the exception being mystic I guess. Best endurance debuff in the game, bar none. Strength and speed bosts on a semi-regular basis. Tanking in the second boss so you're not constantly kiting. Hell, I'd take a lancer. They're fuckin' idiots.
