  1. Adjustable Spectacles of Seeing
  2.
  3. A pair of enchanted glasses with a small dial on the nose connector. Lenses of Magical Seeing can be added to alter perception of light and color in magical ways. They may or may not be found alongside the spectacles. The spectacles and lenses placed within them can alter their shape and form to suit the eye placements, focus, and head shape of the wearer. A monocular variant is also possible. Spectacles that are not adjustable and have irremovable lenses are also possible, and considerably cheaper. Pulling up on the dial will reset the vision adjustment to default, which is usually pretty close to normal vision.
  4.
  5. Lenses of Magical Seeing:
  6.
  7. Each lens is a circular piece of translucent solid glass with odd spectral qualities. They offer vague, fuzzy depictions of their intended visual modifications unless they are clipped into the magical spectacles.
  8.
  9. List:
  10.
  11. LENSES OF TRANSPARENCY
  12. Used to see through objects. A simple magical cantrip can be used to prevent the Lenses of Transparency from seeing through a structure. Looking into a structure with no lighting on the inside will only yield disappointment--the object being looked through must reflect light. A careless individual wearing these may forget that there are objects in front of them, and walk straight into them--they essentially make nearby objects and surfaces invisible!
  13. Appearance: The lenses appear mostly clear with red concentric circles on the front and a white feather suspended in the glass.
  14. Adjustment: The adjustment dial can be used to change the distance of the clipping plane--that is, how far away to look through.
  15.
  16. LENSES OF SHADE AND LIGHT
  17. Acts as brightness exposure adjustment for the wearer. When worn, darkness can be adjusted into light or lightness can be adjusted into dark. While worn, everything takes on a desaturated tone. Colors are muted, the world appears mostly gray.
  18. Appearance: They are a foggy grey color, lighter on one side than the other. It can be used as a dim light or as a weak shade on its own.
  19. Adjustment: The dial will alter the brightness. When turned to bright, a dim light looks bright, and a bright light can be uncomfortably shiny or even blinding. When the dial is turned to bright the user has darkvision. But a perfectly dark room will still be dark. When the dial is turned to dark, bright lights appear dim. It can serve to protect from any light source which would be blinding, like a welder's torch or the sun, at the cost of turning everything else dim.
  20.
  21. LENSES OF SMELLOVISION
  22. Different chemical and alchemical compounds take on a distinctive color. Air of a given composition and smell will be colored as well. A minor telepathy spell mentally connects the colors in the image to their associated smells. Poison gas is purple, acid is green, etc.
  23. Appearance: They take on the appropriate color of whatever the lenses are "pointing" at. They also take on that smell. When examined closely, fruit flies can be seen embedded in the glass.
  24. Adjustment: Changes the gain on the telepathy sp/mell. Low: colors only. Medium: idea of color/smell relationship. High: actually smelling distant smells.
  25.
  26. LENSES OF SPECTRAL SHIFT
  27. Essentially acts as a blueshifting or redshifting filter. It can changes blues to greens, greens to reds, and reds to infrareds. Or the other way. And much more. The entire spectrum of color shown through the spectacles is shifted.
  28. Appearance: They have a rainbow reflection, splitting the light of anything reflecting off of them like a prism. Otherwise they are clear glass disks.
  29. Adjustment: The dial blue- or red-shifts the light. Very low: colors correspond to wavelengths of radio. low: color corresponds to wavelengths of infrared. Medium: Visible light. High: Color corresponds to wavelengths of ultraviolet. Very high: Color corresponds to wavelengths of x-rays and gamma rays.
  30.
  31. LENSES OF SPECTRAL RANGE
  32. Increases the range of the visible spectrum.
  33. Appearance: A foggy glass shows a roughly rainbow refraction, splitting light of anything travelling through it.
  34. Adjustment: Low: Reds turn to yellows, Greens stay greens, and Blues turn to cyans. High: Red becomes infrared, blues become ultraviolet. Increasing the dial further pushes these colors towards radio and gamma rays respectively.
  35.
  36. LENSES OF TIME
  37. These lenses allow the user to see into a different point in time.
  38. Appearance: Normal, clear lenses with a clock face etched into the middle. Faint, glassy cogs turn on the inside.
  39. Adjustment: Turning the dial backwards allows the user to see further and further backwards in time at the same location they are in the present. Turning it forwards produces fuzzy, vague images of the future. Each twist forward increases the fuzziness until it is a grey blur of nothingness.
  40.
  41. LENSES OF TELEVISION
  42. These essentially cause the user's eyes to function as telescopes or binoculars. The field of view is decreased but the light gathering and magnification increases. A spatial enchantment affects the user's eyes to allow their own eyes to change focus more than they normally would be able to. (There's only one dial, when there ought to be two!)
  43. Appearance: Perspective is altered for these lenses. They are slightly too large when far away and slightly too small when close up. It's only a few percent, and the effect lessens with distance.
  44. Adjustment: The dial changes the magnification and light gathering. Negative values are possible, but essentially worthless.
  45. Variant: Lenses of Microvision. Same idea, but it functions as a microscope, and the perspective trick with appearance is flipped.
  46.
  47. LENSES OF PERIPHERY
  48. Very oddly shaped, these lenses allow the user to see objects to their side like a bunny rabbit or deer might with its side-pointing eyes. The effect is actually entirely mechanical--the only magic is a telepathic enchantment to reduce the visual stress and confusion associated with the use of these lenses.
  49. Appearance: Each "lens" is a set of two lenses in a small brass metal box which attaches to the spectacles. The dial adjusts the angle between the two lenses.
  50. Adjustment: Field of view can go from the normal humanoid 110 degrees to an enormous 300 degrees. (you can see almost all the way behind you)
  51.
  52. LENSES OF TRUESIGHT
  53. Grants the wearer Truesight, an ability to see pretty much everything, including magic. Very powerful spectacles.
  54. Appearance: Glowing, bluish or purplish lenses.
  55. Adjustment: Doesn't really do anything.
