  1. The dawn broke over the town once more, and the sunlight glinted off of the ringing bells from a chapel. The funerals were yesterday, although it felt like the burials transpired mere minutes ago. Time had really begun to run together under the pressure and weight of loss after loss, and you weren't sure how much longer it would take before you would crack.
  2.
  3. Although, cracking would be merciful. To pass into death unknowing would be better.

  5. The oracle, in all her wisdom, had become blinded by grief, shouldering the weight of too much, ready to give in to it all. She sat upright, poised in front of her mother's grave, weeping above the flowers she clutched in her shaking hands.
  6.
  7. Soon, she felt the presence behind her, the one she knew would take her life.
  8. Her weeping ceased, though she didn't dare face her assailant.
  9.
  10. ---
  11.
  12. Her body was found laid next to Roxy's grave, the very flowers she had brought to honor her mother clutched to her chest. But they were not the ones she had brought with her.
  13. You look to the still freshly packed earth of the grave and see many, many more flowers covering it.
  14.
  15. Confused, you inspect Rose's body, hoping to understand, hoping to see.
  16. There is another, single wound in her chest underneath her cold folded hands, and underneath the blue flowers.
  17. You stare for a while, pondering, and that's when you notice a glint to her side.
  18. It was a slightly damp piece of parchment, its letters penned in gold ink.
  19.
  20. "We can't all live. We can't all survive, not like this."
