  1. Dear Sirs,
  2.
  3. We are NuSphere Corporation - the owners of PHP DBG, php debugger
  4. extension.
  5.
  6. It has come to our attention that you are using the name "php dbg" for your
  7. PHP extension in forthcoming PHP 5.6. We would like to point out that the
  8. name "PHP DBG" is copyrighted by NuSphere and Dmitri Dmitrienko for our
  9. PHP debugger
  10. extension, being in production for more than 13 years now. NuSphere
  11. extension is shown in phpinfo() output under the name PHP DBG with our
  12. copyright.
  13.
  14. We believe that your use of the name "PHP DBG" would be infringing our
  15. intellectual property rights and also will create confusion with many
  16. customers of NuSphere as well as many users of community version of
  17. NuSphere's PHP DBG distributed at http://www.php-debugger.com/dbg/
  18.
  19. Given this we would like to request you to kindly rename your extension to
  20. avoid the usage of PHP DBG or it's close derivatives. Your assistance with
  21. this matter is highly appreciated.
  22.
  23. Sincerely,
  24. Board of NuSphere.

  31. derived from this software without prior written permission. For

  33.
  34. You have not received such permission.

  40. One other note. Nowhere on http://www.php-debugger.com/dbg/ is the name
  41. "PHP DBG" ever mentioned. Your product is referred to as simply DBG,
  42. probably to avoid violating the PHP license. I would have downloaded the
  43. source code and checked further, but none of the download links on your
  44. site work.
  45.
  46. Also, some advice. This is probably not a fight you want to start.
  47. "Company goes after PHP project over the use of the PHP name."
  48. You are going to get clobbered in the court of public opinion.
  49.
