  1. Why is Call of Duty Ghosts a bad PC port?
  2. Let me enlighten you! (Please note, I am NOT talking about game balance. Only the PC port)
  3.
  4. 1 - No Field of View (FoV) options. Locked to 65. INFINITY WARD WILL NOT EVEN ANSWER IF WE ARE ALLOWED TO SAFELY CHANGE THIS.
  5. 2 - No FPS (frames per second) options. The game even allows you to set your monitor refresh rate to 120Hz in options, but it is capped at 91, therefore it's a pointless setting.
  6. 3 - Terrible optimization, including microstutter on SINGLE video cards. The microstutter has since been patched out, but it is still EXTREMELY unoptimized, to the point that Battlefield 4 runs better maxed out than CoD Ghosts not even on maximum settings.
  7. 4 - Game uses up to 4GB of video card RAM for absolutely no reason. I do not mean 4GB as in two x 2GB cards. I mean 4GB per card.
  8. 5 - Game requires 6GB of RAM to even LAUNCH, however uses only 2GB of said RAM. Why? The game has hard coded 4GB of "null" into its RAM requirements. Therefore, it wants 4GB of your ram to do absolutely NOTHING with. But you can't play it with having that extra RAM for it to do nothing with.
  9. 6 - Game has aim assist if you plug in a controller. This is BOTH SINGLE PLAYER AND MULTIPLAYER.
  10. 7 - Visuals are very inconsistent; some maps look brilliant, some maps look worse than MW2/CS:GO. Also, each map has a different drain on one's FPS.
  11. 8 - Game does not have 9v9 game modes outside of ground war.
  12. 9 - Extinction mode is even more unoptimized than multiplayer.
  13. 10 - Extinction mode has Xbox 1 d-pad icons for abilities, and does not show PC buttons. One must figure out which killstreak button corresponds to which Xbox d-pad button and learn them by heart in order to use abilities at will. Also, the game has Xbox 1's green-circled, green-coloured "A" button to confirm upgrade of skills in-game. This takes place even with controllers set to "disabled" in options menu, and no Xbox 360 or Xbox 1 controller plugged into the machine.
  14. 11 - Game does not yet have the promised dedicated servers and instead runs on peer to peer system.
  15. 12 - Game crashes for no reason.
  16. 13 - Game crashes video card drivers for no reason.
  17. 14 - If run in borderless windowed mode, and one clicks on any program OTHER than Call of Duty: Ghosts, the icon disappears from the taskbar and programs must be minimized until Ghosts is the focused window in order to return to the game.
  18. 15 - Reports of game running worse in fullscreen than in borderless windowed.
  19. 16 - People having varying performance in game. My laptop can play on max, whereas someone with three GTX 680s could not go above medium without getting under 60 frames per second. This is different from unoptimization, which should be across the board. This is just retardation.
  20. 17 - Game has MW3 and BO2 emblems available for users who have played/prestiged once/max prestiged in those games, however it is unavailable to PC users because *apparently* CoD elite (which was released for PC with the launch of CoD Ghosts) and steam account checks yield absolutely no information of your stats to this game's developers. Even though Treyarch and IW have access to their previous steamworks-enabled games' players' stats and can adjust/reset/etc said stats on PC.
  21. 18 - Game cannot be alt-tabbed out of in fullscreen mode without bringing up steam overlay.
  22. 19 - Game has mouse acceleration and mouse stuttering issues for many users.
  23. 20 - Main menu lags immensely. Random stuttering was present, however has been fixed with its first patch. Worth mentioning that it once existed, however.
  24. 21 - Main menu has to "load" new guns when changing loadouts in create-a-class, where your soldier will toss the old weapon and grab a new one tossed to them from off-screen. This stutter when loading is not present on Xbox 360, therefore is a problem with the PC version of the game, and as such is included in this list.
  25. 22 - Game gets equal performance with SLI turned on or off, reported by many users. Another optimization issue, no doubt, but if it allows us to use SLI it should not have these problems. Games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut, which run worse with SLI turned on, have by default made the game use only one video card, even if you have SLI enabled, therefore Ghosts has no excuse.
  26. 23 - The "crouch" button in the game is in fact the "change stance" button from the consoles. If you hold it down, you go prone. There EXISTS a "change stance" button in the game, but it's pointless since the "crouch" button does the same thing. It also is an issue as since previously holding crouch never made one go prone, sprinting to do the slide movement mechanic requires holding crouch... if you hold it too long, you will cancel the slide and go prone. I know not if it happens on consoles, but it shouldn't happen here and has not done this since so far as Call of Duty 1 in 2003, 10 years ago.
  27. 24 - Game does not have dedicated lean buttons, and contextual lean MUST be used if leaning is desired, just like on the consoles. This is a massive step backward in terms of including lean on the PC version of the game natively, and is a huge slap in the face to PC users which have been told since MW2 that "the game is not balanced for lean" and thus leaning was never included, though modders have been able to re-bind it into the game within a couple minutes of digging into the game.
  28. 25 - Game lacks ability to use the console. If you do not know what it is, it is a feature which allows us to fine-tune things like sensitivity and maximum network packets (improves lag) etc, which has been absent since IW games since MW2. It may be a staple for IW games for it to be absent, but it is still a problem with the PC port of this game.
  29. 26 - Game has sliders without numbers for fine-tuning things like audio, voice chat transmit levels and sensitivity.
  30. 27 - Game tosses all its maps and assets in its main folder in steam and creates a massive cluster of files which should normally be sorted into sub-folders.
  31. 28 - Game takes huge amounts of time to start up even running on Solid State drives. Upwards of 10 seconds before you can even get the main window open. It's not a huge problem, but still unnecessary and terrible. Even consoles start their games faster. It defeats the purpose of buying expensive SSDs and fast RAM etc if the game does not take real advantage of it. To console users, imagine if the game somehow refused to accept input from your scuff controller paddles, or refused to let you use a mic you bought for chatting and insisted on you using your kinect mic, when there was absolutely no discernible reason for it to behave that way.
  32. 29 - Game does not create native-resolution textures above 720p unless "extra" texture quality is selected. This is a problem as the game is so poorly optimized.
  33. 30 - Voice transmit volume will ADJUST YOUR VOLUME IN WINDOWS depending on its setting, so for users who require a specific volume for things like Teamspeak 3, Skype, Streaming, etc who do not realize this (or cannot set it properly) will have huge problems. This is a bad side effect of the slider option problems.
  34. 31 - This game is 24.4GB for multiplayer and 7.5GB for single player. WITHOUT ANY DLC. Battlefield 4's SP and MP combined is approximately 23GB. There is no point to this. It obviously lacks the detailed graphics, vehicles, repitoire of weaponry and map size and variations that Battlefield 4 has, yet still requires much more space on one's hard drive. This is unnecessary at all.
  35. 32 - If using the FoV changer/FPS unlocker program and one gets "host" of a multiplayer game, the game will instantly crash as for some reason, the host is not allowed to surpass 65 FOV and/or 91FPS or the game will simply break.
  36.
  37. 33 - Finally, the developers are not responding to a SINGLE issue that has been listed above. They do not care, they do not tell us anything, they do not release patch notes, they simply have no interest and I also believe no knowledge of PC gaming or its gamers. This is the reason WHY Call of Duty on PC has few players and a declining playerbase over the years. There will always be people who purchase the game and even more people who simply refuse to *not* play IW games because they are IW and/or they "feel" a certain way. These people don't care what you give them, they will buy it. These people are almost the entire playerbase of IW CoD games on PC. These people are dwindling in number. The other players are moving to battlefield, playing Counter-Strike or simply not playing FPS games anymore. Because if you do not play some form of CS, BF or CoD, there are NO populated FPS games on the PC. End of story. And IW are not helping. If they would explain themselves stretched too thin or some such deal as to why the PC port was so rushed, and promised to fix it then started FIXING IT, then we would understand. We might even forgive them, as we are forgiving DICE for what they have done with BF4's PC version. But as it stands now, this is arguably THE worst part of the bad PC port: lack of care, feedback and interest by its developers. And that is why this has the longest post and is situated at the end of this list.
