Slowking WIP

Overview

Slowking's consistency as an incredibly bulky pokemon still has not changed much, but in a physical metagame, it can be harder to justify using him over his more defensive brother. However, there are still some very dangerous special attackers including three deadly ones who came back from the land of the uber metagame. Sporting one of the best defensive abilities in regeneratior, reliable recovery and an expansive support move pool, Slowking shouldn't be overlooked so easily. His base 100 special attack is very usable for a defensive pokemon and he has a few attacks that his brother can't use.

Moves
========
As this pokemon is specially defensive, scald is a nice move to help catch physical attackers switching in, as well as one of Slowking's most potent STABs. Power Gem allows Slowking to check a weakened Charizard-Mega-Y and finish it off, as well as allowing Slowking to check unboosted Volcarona and Thundurus-i, should ice beam not be on the set. Fire blast will nearly KO Aegislash in blade form and Slowking takes less than 50% damage from Shadow Ball. Ferrothorn is also forced to stay away or be permanently dented. Ice beam allows Slowking to win versus Latios lacking Choice Specs, Landorus-i, Gliscor and Thundurus-i, though Slowking needs a clean switch versus Thundurus-i. Lastly, Dragon tail allows Slowking to reset manaphy, even after a tail glow energy ball.

Set Details
========
The Specially defensive EV spread allows Slowking to take the majority of the special attackers in OU with the boost from the assault vest. A Calm nature just adds to the incredible special bulk Slowking has with this set. All of this Special bulk allows Slowking to survive two Solar Beams from Mega Charizard-Y.

Usage Tips
========
Slowking doesn't have much difficulty coming in against any special attacker as long as he still has his Assault vest. Against Volcarona and Thundurus-i, Slowking needs a clean switch but these two are the rare exception. Once in, Slowking can easily use one of his many coverage moves and capitalize on his bulk to force most special attackers out. Slowking may be forced out the next turn but Regenerator allows Slowking to shed most residual damage as well as any weaker hits he took. Regenerator allows Slowking to act as a scout against most special attackers and support pokemon while it also allows for Slowking to easily gain back health on double switches. Due to his low speed, special attack coverage and regenerator, Slowking can absorb most statuses in a pinch, only minding Sleep.

Team Options
========
Slowking enjoys having teammates that can take electric and bug attacks, so pokemon like Amoongus and Mega Venusaur pair well with Slowking. These pokemon can also absorb toxic and powder moves for Slowking, allowing for more leniency against the statuses Slowking would prefer not to take. Chesnaught is also a great partner, having great physical bulk as well as dark, electric and grass resists. Sylveon can round out Slowking's weaknesses, providing a resist to dark and bug while Slowking can resist steel and hit poison types for Super effective damage. Lastly, VoltTurn teams appreciate Slowking's ability to be a specially defensive pivot, and Slowking gets more opportunities to come in and switch out, keeping his health higher.

Other Options
########
Slowking is a viable trick room setter, having regenerator to allow him to recover without wasting precious turns of trick room. With a more physical spread, Slowking can also check Talonflame from sweeping through trick room staples such as Conkeldurr. Slowking can also hold choice specs and trick them to an unsuspecting pokemon. Even with a mediocre special attack stat, Slowking's coverage moves allows Slowking to take advantage of the choice specs while he holds them.

Checks & Counters
########
Conkeldurr does not fear a scald burn and can 2HKO Slowking with knock off, removing Slowking's item if he does switch out.
Rotom-Wash is not bothered by any of Slowking's moves and can force non-Assault vest sets out with the threat of volt switch.
Bisharp and Tyranitar can Pursuit trap Slowking if they can get in without getting burned.
Mega Ampharos easily comes into any of Slowking's attacks and force it out. Mega Manectric does fear a stab Psychic or Scald but does a great deal of damage on Volt Switch.
Scizor forces Slowking out but cannot come in without a clean switch as it risks being killed by fire blast or burned by Scald.
Greninja can force Slowking out and proceed to threaten most switches with incredible coverage moves and speed, but cannot switch in to Slowking's attacks often or it risks dying due to its low bulk.
