Writing is important for many reasons. In fact, writing skills are important for employment, especially for well paying jobs. Many employers require resumes from people who want to be employed by them. Possessing good writing skills is important in this aspect because many employers will take into consideration the writing skills demonstrated on the resume of the person who wants to be employed by them. Additionally, most colleges require resumes from people who want to attend their college as well. Like employers most colleges take into consideration the writing skills demonstrated on the applications of those who want to be admitted into that college. In college there are many writing assignments like papers and thesis that require writing skills. Also, a college education is necessary for most well paying jobs. Writing skills are also necessary to hold down a job, especially a well paying one, since many jobs require a lot of writing. Another reason writing skills are important is that they help us to express our ideas. The basic skills of grammar-spelling, capitalization, and punctuation are extremely important. They enable us to communicate clearly with one another. Writing makes us better explainers, persuaders, and thinkers by improving our communication skills, which are enable us to explain, persuade, and think. Since we live in a world of “text”, our writing skills are extremely important. Communication via email, internet-Facebook, MySpace, blogs, twitter, and cell phone texts all require the use or our writing skills, which makes these skills a vital part of our lives. Besides, possessing and demonstrating good writing skills provides others with a positive representation of us, unlike poor ones which represent us terribly.
