- ATLANTA (AP) _ The Atlanta Hawks unveiled their new logo on Friday _ a hawk in flight, its claws clutching a basketball.
- It replaces a stylized line drawing of a hawk's head in profile.
- The new uniforms, black for the road and white for home, feature red, yellow and gold trim along with the hawk.
- It's the first time since the 1972-73 season the Hawks have changed their logo, and the fourth time since moving to Atlanta in 1968.
- ``We tried to make it as animated and special as possible,'' said Tom O'Grady, the NBA's creative director. ``While the old logo had more of a corporate, classic feel, we believe the new logo has a very powerful and determined feel with a more focused look to it.''
