  1. Description: So a Lilim Admiral, a Dulluhan Marine, and a Golem Ambassador go church for Sunday mass. Chaos ensues.
  2.
  3. The rift between worlds only needed a little manipulation to become a full doorway. As luck would have it, Mrs. Queen of hearts and madness was the one responsible for opening these pathways between the two worlds. I asked why she made them and all she said was, “I did it to perpetuate my own amusement.” The queen of hearts is a loony but she is family.
  4.
  5. I turn around to address my three companions. One is my retainer, a Dullahan by the name of BLANK. She is wearing the traditional demonic armor of all Dullahan with the only difference being that it was painted to resemble the uniform of the Glilian Royal Marines. My second companion for this endeavor is a Golem that agreed to be reprogrammed to act as my secretary for this venture.
  6.
  7. “Ladies, in a few moments we will be marching through this rift to the King’s home world. But not even His Majesty remembers everything about ‘Sol 3’ and we have no idea what to expect once we end up on the other side.” I’m not about to lie to them about the great unknown. They need to know the facts.
  8.
  9. “Our mission is to make contact with the local government or otherwise scope out the area surrounding the rift. I say again, our intentions are diplomatic and peaceful. If we do encounter hostiles, we will immediately withdraw back through the doorway and seal it off. If we make contact, we are authorized to stay 24 hours before letting base camp know what’s going on. Any questions?”
  10.
  11. Now was as good a time as any to make sure the whole group was on the same page. “What if we don’t encounter any settlements?” I’m glad the Golem is asking that. What is her name? Doris, that’s it! “If no contact is made with the indigenous in 4 hours then we return with whatever information we have.”
  12.
  13. “Must I go?” That accented question is from my third companion. She is very lovely even though she is incredibly nervous. She moved to Glilia from Zipangu about three years ago. Blank is a Raiju, and in Glilia that means ‘Telegraph Operator’. The sexy lightning weasel is coming along because she is smarter than everyone else in matters of Morse Code and doubles as a living battery.
  14.
  15. “Because we need to let Base know about any progress we make and that’s your job as Army Senior Comms Officer. And don’t be so worried. In all likelihood the mission will be uneventful and you will have 4 hours to play with yourself and sexegraph with your husband.” At least the Raiju and Thunderbirds don’t deny it.
  16.
  17. At that the Raiju was a little more perky in more ways than one and we all proceeded through the doorway.
  18. I look around and it’s the same on this side as it is on the other. It’s a few hours after dawn just as it is on Terra and there are trees all around the doorway. Everyone can hear a bell ringing far off in the distance. My retainer isn’t sure whether to grab for her sword or her pistol. “Sounds like we will make contact after all.”
  19.
  20. I place a hand on her shoulder and try to set her at ease. “Stay calm, it’s not the Order. The King was adamant that they have no influence on this world.”
  21.
  22. Everyone starts hearing popping sounds and turns in the direction of the door. Bugs are landing on our Sr. Comms Officer and getting electrocuted. “Damnit, girl. I thought we were getting shot at!” The Dullahan is quite pissed and I’m trying to stifle grin. The Golem is laughing uncontrollably while the poor Raiju walks off with her equipment and spool of telegraph line. Popping all the way.
  23.
  24. So we all are making our way towards the cause of the ringing and arrive at a clearing in the trees. The Raiju is working on unfolding her chair and telegraph table while the rest of us are taking turns looking at a church on the other side of the open field.
  25.
  26. “Ume, is the connection working proper?” I ask as I hand the binoculars to the Doris.
  27.
  28. “Roger, Base just sent confirmation and I am debriefing them of the current situation.”
  29.
  30. “Good. Everything is…”
  31.
  32. The Marine is looking back at he with a worried look. “Are you alright, Milady Admiral?”
  33.
  34. “…Going smoothly.” I begin rubbing my temples to relieve the pain “I have come up with a headache. Nothing mission critical. Carry on.”
  35.
  36. “Ma’am, there doesn’t appear to be anyone of a threat at that church. I see two flags. One is white with a blue square in the top left corner, inside that is a red cross.”
  37.
  38. “Curious. What does the other flag look like?” That one doesn’t sound familiar so I hope the other one gives us a better idea of what to expect.
  39.
  40. “Larger blue square in top left corner with many white stars, everything else on the flag is horizontal red and white stripes.”
  41.
  42. “That sounds familiar…” It is on the tip of my tongue. If only this damn migraine wasn’t affecting me right now.
  43.
  44. “It must be the flag of the USA.” The Royal Marine beats you to it. However you were not going to let the next piece of info slip past you.
  45. “That means those people are… ‘Damnyankees’. Lets push forward and say hello.”
  46. Doris objects, sighting that I physically don’t look good and my condition is getting worse by the minute.
  47.
  48. I tell her that is rubbish and begin to press forward through the clearing. The two of them fallow after me as Ume sends another message back to Base and tells us to pick her up a souvenir.
  49.
  50. Keep moving forward. We are almost there.
  51.
  52. Another dozen meters or so.
  53.
  54. Straight ahead.
  55.
  56. Walk.
  57.
  58. Someone has noticed us and a commotion starts. In short time, a man steps out of the humble looking church and walks towards us. I certainly can’t object if he decides to meet us half way.
  59.
  60. “Hello, can I help you?” Is it the migraine or does he sound a little suspicious of us.
  61.
  62. Don’t think about the pain, just speak. “Are you the leader of this congregation?”
  63.
  64. “My name is Moss Rollins, I am Pastor of this church.”
  65.
  66. Eh, what?… Oh he introduced himself.
  67.
  68. Oh right, better do the same.
  69.
  70. “I am Vice Admiral Lady Fischer of His Majesties Royal Navy.” Good… keep talking. State name, rank and intention and then you can leave. “I am here on behave-behalf the peoples of the Kingdom of Galilia… Kingdom of Glilia. W-where can I make contact with the local gover…meant.
  71.
  72. I should get Nigel a nice pair of shoes like those.
  73.
  74. -
  75.
  76. “Grab the Admiral’s bicorn and meet me back at the doorway.”
  77.
  78. Am I on the ground? How did I get here…?
  79.
  80. “Sorry for the trouble, do you happen to have a map we could purchase?”
  81.
  82. “Doris lets go!”
  83. Good thinking about the map…
  84.
  85. -
  86.
  87. “W-what’s going on?”
  88.
  89. “Ume there is no time to explai…” What was that? “…back to the doorway!”
  90.
  91. Why am I so tired? This isn’t like… me…
