The difference between Russian and US military occupation theory:

In Russian army training, officers are told how to take full responsibility for civilian population on occupied territory - medical aid, epidemic prevention, fixing sewage, safe water supply, ensuring proper nutrition, etc. all at the army expense. you may deploy less troops or more troops depending on the military aim. but the aim is not just to take over the place with less own losses. the aim is to spend less resources in overall campaign, including managing the place after taking it over.

In US military training, the objective is to bomb the shit out of a place, leave it a smoking ruin, then pour in tons of dollars to be stolen by our puppet "leaders," while the people starve. Then we wonder where terrorists come from.
