  12. [18:19] <Ivan> Hello komrades~
  13. [18:19] <Cait> allo
  14. [18:20] <@KamenWriter> Alright one second.
  15. [18:21] <@KamenWriter> The year is 1917, Around the beginning of July. It's been a long, hard war for the Allies. Every single one of you knows at least one person that's been lost in the trenches, and still more and more people are sent off to the meat grinder every day. You get the idea that this new kind of war that Europe has been waging is completely unfamiliar to the old men running the war.
  16. [18:21] <@KamenWriter> Some of you may have even seen battle, and you know very well there is no glory in this fight.
  17. [18:22] <@KamenWriter> Or if you are young and haven't seen it yet, you may hold some hope that the wide-eyed shell-shocked expressions on the veterans doesn't mean what you fear.
  18. [18:23] <@KamenWriter> Either way, for the moment, Paris is beautiful, and you've been here on leave for the past week. Your marching orders say that by the end of today you will be on a train heading north towards Brussels and then on towards the western front.
  19. [18:24] <@KamenWriter> Ivan, you are set to move on from there towards Berlin to begin your life as a double-agent, but Cait, you know very well that you may very well end up in a battle like the ones that spread the poppies over Flanders Field (As a nurse, barf, but still).
  20. [18:26] <@KamenWriter> You are currently standing on a train platform. Ivan, you can be in your uniform or in plainclothes, but Cait, you are wearing your nurse's uniform and are expected to stay with the girls. You are looked over by a hard-faced nun who is looking you over and casting diapproving gazes over the girls who dare to look over at the soldiers.
  21. [18:27] <@KamenWriter> The soldiers however, are standing around with rucksacks, many are smoking, some have already pulled out strong drinks from flasks and have begun floating card games. There is laughter, but also fear.
  22. [18:28] * Ivan is dressed in plainclothes, though he stands with the bearing of a soldier. He has a shaggy Purrloin tucked under one arm and a lit cigarette between his lips.
  23. [18:29] <@KamenWriter> Ivan, you're probably some ways away from the soldiers in that case, keeping a low profile and watching things happen.
  24. [18:29] <@KamenWriter> Or at least far enough away to have plausible deniability
  25. [18:30] <@KamenWriter> A few civilians are waiting to board, but most are soldiers.
  26. [18:31] * Cait tries not to have her eyes rolled up into the back of her skull. She has a couple of pokeballs hidden in her nurses uniform; she doesn't get a chance to let them out very often.
  27. [18:31] <Ivan> Indeed, he's standing a little bit away from the soldiers, though he watches them now and then. He turns his head to look at the nurses and gives them a polite wave.
  28. [18:32] <@KamenWriter> Cait: Sister Mary Francis is a bit of a narcoleptic, luckily. You think that she doesn't get much sleep, and so while you wait for the train in the summer sun, she begins to snore softly
  29. [18:32] <@KamenWriter> Many of the girls loosen up and begin talking among one another, glad the nagging has stopped for now.
  30. [18:33] <@KamenWriter> Also, A MAN waved at you and several of the nurses giggle at this and whisper among themselves.
  31. [18:34] <Cait> "Do you think he was waving at someone in particular?" She whispers to one of the other girls.
  32. [18:35] <@KamenWriter> They chatter lightly, "I wish it were me. He looks dandy." "Swell-looking fella like that and here I am in white like an old lady." "Maybe he was waving at you Cait." Teeheeteehee
  33. [18:36] <Cait> "Well lets see then." She boldly waves back at the man.
  34. [18:37] <@KamenWriter> [whispering intensified]
  35. [18:37] <@KamenWriter> A few look intrigued, some look scandalized.
  36. [18:37] * Cait grins, "Think he's a soldier? He's not standing with the rest of em."
  37. [18:38] * Ivan starts and looks around a bit to see that no one is standing alone. He chuckles and waves at the woman again.
  38. [18:38] <@KamenWriter> "He's not wearing a uniform," says one of the nurses who is twirling a lock of black hair in her fingers, "What soldier doesn't wear a uniform?"
  39. [18:39] <@KamenWriter> "Maybe he's a contractor."
  40. [18:40] <@KamenWriter> "Building things? That's not romantic."
  41. [18:40] <Cait> "Maybe...ah! Now he really is waving at me."
  42. [18:40] <@KamenWriter> "If he's being paid to build things for the war, maybe he's rich!"
  43. [18:41] <Cait> "Pppth," She makes a rude noise of dissatisfaction, "Naw, that can't be it."
  44. [18:41] <@KamenWriter> This is obviously the most exciting thing that's happened since you all left the nursing course, which was taught by Nuns and stern sexless old married men."
  45. [18:41] <@KamenWriter> -"
  46. [18:42] <@KamenWriter> Sister Mary Francis is still asleep, and you know she sleeps like a Snorlax
  47. [18:42] * Cait is still grinning though, "Mary is still sleeping. I should go over and say hello. Well, I shouldn't, but I kind of want to."
  48. [18:43] <@KamenWriter> "Oh Cait, you're so bad." Says one of the girls, while gesturing for you to TOTALLY go for it.
  49. [18:43] <@KamenWriter> Others aren't so enthusiastic and hold hands in front of their mouths, "You'll get in trouble."
  50. [18:43] * Ivan exhales a puff of smoke, then looks down at his cat to speak to it. "Misha, nurses, da or nyett?"
  51. [18:44] <@KamenWriter> Misha graces you with a half-hearted Myurrrr before going back to sleep.
  52. [18:45] * Cait looks over at the girls, "Maybe he just needs medical attention. It would be Rude not to go ask!" She then begins to separate from the girls, walking up to the man, "Bonjour, Monsieur."
  53. [18:46] <@KamenWriter> There is a chorus of new giggles at this and they watch with rapt attention.
  54. [18:46] <Cait> "Are you feeling well today? Do you require any medical attention?" She repeats it in french again, if he does not speak English.
  55. [18:47] <@KamenWriter> (I suppose she would actually be Soeur Marie Francois, and not Sister Mary Francis :B Since, y'know, france)
  56. [18:48] <Cait> (whatevs :B)
  57. [18:49] * Ivan looks strangely surprised to hear French, despite being in FRANCE, but laughs again and smiles. "Ah, no, no, I am well. Perhaps bit nervous, da? How are you?" His accent on his English is strong, but intelligible at least.
  58. [18:51] <Cait> "Myself? Shipped off to parts unknown. Help kick the german threat out of europe in what ways I can. What of you, sir? You do not sound French."
  59. [18:52] * Cait 's english doesn't have a french accent to it, despite her fluency in french.
  60. [18:56] <Ivan> "German front? All of you?" He gestures with his cigarette at the nurses and soldiers. "My apologies, no lucky zhing zhere. I am headed home, but must go through same place."
  61. [18:58] <Cait> "We will be working as nurses for soldiers on the front." She doesn't sound too enthusiastic. "Home? so...russia, then?"
  62. [19:01] * Ivan runs his knuckles against his chin, sheepish. "Da, back to Russia. Not safe to continue studies so far from home. You are not French either, da?"
  63. [19:01] <Cait> "American."
  64. [19:03] * Ivan jokingly reels away with a laugh. "Amerikan woman! Why vould you come here?"
  65. [19:04] <Cait> "America joined the war, good sir. Is it not our duty to help our cousins and ancestors from Europe, as well as defend our homelands?"
  66. [19:05] <Ivan> "Duty is dangerous word, devushka. Is not duty to die in trench for ugly land."
  67. [19:08] <Cait> She exhales, "You sure you aren't a soldier?"
  68. [19:10] * Ivan holds out his arms, managing to keep his Purrloin propped up in one hand. "I see no uniform. When I get home, maybe zhey draft me."
  69. [19:14] <Cait> "You probably should. You act like one." She glances back, "Anyway good sir, I should be getting back."
  70. [19:16] <Cait> "Have a safe trip!" She turns to walk back to the girls.
  71. [19:17] <Ivan> "Should you? I like the company. And I think your keeper is sleeping." He looks around her to see if the nun is dozing. "Ah! I forgot, my name is Ivan! Nice to meet you!" He waves at her awkwardly as she turns away.
  72. [19:17] <@KamenWriter> Nun is still dozing, yup
  73. [19:20] <Cait> "Ah, Caitlin. Cait for short... And i really should go back BEFORE she wakes up."
  74. [19:20] <Cait> She hesitates, but goes back to the girls, grinning like a madwoman.
  75. [19:21] * Ivan nods and hums a few times in agreement. He goes back to smoking as Caitlyn walks off.
  76. [19:23] <Ivan> "Misha, cards with soldiers, da ili nyet?"
  77. [19:24] <@KamenWriter> "Myrrrrr," zzzzz
  78. [19:25] <Ivan> "You are never helping me, lazy kot." He wanders down the train platform towards the soldiers.
  79. [19:28] <Cait> "Nice guy." She says as nonchalantly as she can.
  80. [19:29] <@KamenWriter> "What did he say!?"
  81. [19:29] <@KamenWriter> The girls are on the edges of their seats
  82. [19:29] <@KamenWriter> "Who is he?"
  83. [19:29] <@KamenWriter> "Is he rich?"
  84. [19:29] <@KamenWriter> "Is he a contractor?"
  85. [19:29] <@KamenWriter> "What does he build?"
  86. [19:30] <Cait> "He didn't say what, but he was in france studying. He's Russian! Going back home."
  87. [19:31] <Cait> "He was a bit mysterious about it." She tells a little bit of a lie.
  88. [19:34] <@KamenWriter> "Oooohhhh."
  89. [19:34] <Cait> "He was saying he was thinking about becoming a soldier though."
  90. [19:35] <@KamenWriter> The girls seem satisfied at this and continue to chatter amongst themselves about it.
  91. [19:37] * Cait is satisfied as well; glad to have at least a LITTLE fun. She'll have to go back to daydreaming about fighting on the lines for now.
  92. [19:50] <@KamenWriter> Alright, if there's nothing else?
  93. [19:50] <@KamenWriter> The train arrives a couple of hours later.
  94. [19:51] <@KamenWriter> Someone has to poke Soeur Marie Francois awake, and she acts as if she was awake the whole time. The Soldiers pour into the front-most train cars, but there is still a civilian car towards the back. The Nurse's car is between the civilian car and the beginning of the soldier's
  95. [19:53] * Ivan takes a seat in the civilian car, fully prepared for it to be empty.
  96. [19:54] * Cait takes her seat, ready for a boring ride.
  97. [19:55] <@KamenWriter> There are a few scattered people within the civvy car, but you're right. You have most of it to yourself.
  98. [19:56] <@KamenWriter> In the nurse car, Soeur Marie Francois passes out seat assignments (Even though there is no seat number printed on your ticket, but Marie Francois is like that)
  99. [19:57] * Cait counts the seats and takes hers.
  100. [19:59] <@KamenWriter> And yeah, for the first hour, the train ride is uneventful. You can sometimes hear rauccaus cheers and laughter coming from the soldiers in the next car, but other than the trolley coming around and passing out refreshments, it's a fairly uneventful ride.
  101. [20:00] <@KamenWriter> Paris melts into the french countryside as you head out. After another hour, you begin to approach a tunnel.
  102. [20:01] <@KamenWriter> Pidove wheel through the sky. You don't see many Pidove in the wild anymore. They shoot Pidove because both armies use them to send messages.
  103. [20:01] * Ivan slumps into the window, face pressed partially against the glass. "If I'd known this vould be so boring..."
  104. [20:02] <@KamenWriter> Soon enough, the tunnel approaches. There is little light within the traincar, so you are plunged into partial darkness as you enter.
  105. [20:03] <@KamenWriter> And both of you see a strange figure in the gloomy darkness. It's the same figure, although you're both in the same traincar.
  106. [20:03] <@KamenWriter> *In different traincars
  107. [20:04] * Cait was about to make a funny noise now that Marie couldn't see any of them, but she blinks at the strange figure.
  108. [20:04] <@KamenWriter> It seems to be a man sitting in a seat nonchalantly in the row beside yours. He wears an army uniform, although it is of no army you've ever seen before.
  109. [20:05] <@KamenWriter> You can't make out much in the darkness. His face is completely obscured, but his uniform is blue.
  110. [20:05] <@KamenWriter> But in his pocket, bright as you please, is a pop of red color.
  111. [20:05] <@KamenWriter> You recognize it as a poppy flower, red with a black spot inside, pinned to his jacket.
  112. [20:06] * Cait looks around, wont someone say something about the strange man sitting in their car?
  113. [20:06] <@KamenWriter> No one else seems to notice the man but you.
  114. [20:06] * Cait slowly turns her head forward, oh god she's going crazy like dad.
  115. [20:07] * Ivan leans off the window and looks over at the man. He picks up Misha and sets the cat away from the strange soldier. "Hello?"
  116. [20:07] <@KamenWriter> No response, although Ivan can suddenly feel eyes upon him.
  117. [20:07] <@KamenWriter> Although he couldn't see the man's face turn in the darkness.
  118. [20:08] * Ivan shivers and looks about for the source of the WEIRD FEELING.
  119. [20:09] <@KamenWriter> Soon, however, light returns to the train car seemingly all at once. You have exited the dark tunnel. The man is gone.
  120. [20:09] <@KamenWriter> Ivan sees only an empty seat and Cait sees one of the girls chatting away with her seat-mate
  121. [20:10] * Cait flinches a little bit, but tries to ignore the fact she just saw something odd. maybe a ghost pokemon playing a trick on her. That's probably it.
  122. [20:10] * Ivan pokes his head out into the aisle to see if the man somehow changed seats.
  123. [20:10] <@KamenWriter> Nope. He's disappeared.
  124. [20:11] <@KamenWriter> However, you are distracted soon after by a sudden lurch in the train and a loud screech of brakes. All of the other passengers all suddenly talk at once, panicking.
  125. [20:12] <Cait> "What the bleedin heck?" She blurts out as she's bounced forward in her seat.
  126. [20:13] * Ivan nearly tumbles out into the aisle. He picks himself up off the ground. "Vat happenink?"
  127. [20:13] <@KamenWriter> You don't have much time to react before you hear a massive impact, and then feel it. Your world is spinning and you are consumed with vertigo as the train seems to lift into the air, flopping everyone around you around the train car like ragdolls.
  128. [20:13] <@KamenWriter> There is screaming, and then, all of a sudden, nothing.
  129. [20:14] <@KamenWriter> The world goes dark and you feel like you are nowhere.
  130. [20:14] <@KamenWriter> TO BE CONTINUED
  131. [20:17] * Cait is now known as Aeros
  132. [20:27] <@KamenWriter> You see some Pidove wheel through the sky. Odd. You don't see Pidove very often in the wild anymore.
  133. [20:27] <@KamenWriter> Oops
  134. [20:40] <@KamenWriter> Ignore that last line after the To Be Continued
  135. [20:40] <@KamenWriter> :B
  136. [21:55] * Aeros (nekodes@i.dunno.lol) Quit ( Quit: )
